Throwing around the term hypocrite isn't exactly correct. I'm sure many have heard of these instances as I'm sure many have not. However, if you read fully in the article, which by the way is a great read (thanks for posting), many of the instances were speculatory. In Halas's case, there were no actual charges or proof of clandestine activity. You need to stop defending Boston. They got caught. This isn't the 40's, 50's or 60's...we also all knew that Kennedy was cheating on Jackie, but the media wasn't what it is today. The Pats are living in the microscope era now, and that's how it is for all teams. I'd go so far to say, if right now, the Bears got caught doing similar, most of us would be crushed and fuming, not burying our heads in the sand saying, "everyone does it". However, since the Bears haven't won jack in the past decade, it wouldn't hold the same impact as the Patriots situation.

But in all honesty, I enjoy the draft far more! It's just that I can't seem to focus on the draft until I know what's went down in FA...
-
Regarding Brees and Griese, I don't think he erred. Brees wanted to start and the powers that be for the Bears weren't going let anyone but Grossman start. I think the decision to rely on Rex was wrong, but given that, it wasn't a bad move.

FA as well! There seems to be enough out there that the Bears should be interested in. Also...potential trade for McNabb. All that will dictate the draft basically...
-
I don't care for Lefwich...too much windup in his throws and very injury prone. I don't think he's an upgrade to Orton. Gandy could be a possibility though.

nfo, thanks for the timeline info! I agree with most your assessment. TJ I think was his FA steal. Ogun - Agreed... He hasn't quite met expectation, but he's ben very solid for us. I have no complaints. Tait - agreed... Moose - I see your point, but Moose did bring a veteran presecne to a really iffy WR corps. I do think it was a bust signing. after further thought. Clark - Regarding Clack, I think it was more of coaches fault than Angelo's. I'm not sure why Lovie and Turner don't feature TE's as much as they should. Heck, last year I was screeaming for Olsen to get more touches,etc... I honestly just don't get our coaching staff. DT's - I forgot about Walker! Bust there for sure... I was thinking of Toe and Adams... OL - I completely see your point on the short term element... But I can't fault Angelo, I think he saw the window, and that line played well the year of and before the SB appearance. I'll give you the quasi-fail grade ofr Angelo on FA! Here's hoping he can do better this off-season!

Conspiracy Thoery #123875381331 The league proably had much more and instead of opening the Pandora's box, they shedded it all. They hit the Pat's with a wrist slap and thought no one would press it. Turns out, like most things, the cover up, is worse than the admission... Should be an interesting off-season!

Can we get him on the Clemmens training regiment and switch him to linebacker? Probably cut him, but hold on doing it for a little while. He could be good to have in camp to help some of the young guys develop.
-
I can't recall the exact timeline...but did Angelo bring in: T Jones Ogun Tait Moose (which not great for us, still not bad considered) Clark The DT's last season Rueben Brown Fred Miller (before he got old with a quickness...)
-
Sold!

I hear ya. I wouldn't be surprised if he just retires. I'd like to look at Dhani Jones if possible. I think he'll be free and wouldn't be a bad roatation guy if we can get him on the cheap.
-
Not counting McBride and Graham, who were called to duty basically because of injury...it' took a darn while for Olsen and Wolfe to get decent looks. Granted, Olsen got hurt early...but I just didn't get why he wan't on the field more. I guess I simply don't trust our coaches in this area.

I think it's reasonable to expect he'd want at least a 4 year deal. I'd do it. It gives us until he's 35... It locks up a spot for a few years while we groom a replacement.

Chicago Bears News/Discussion Catch-All Thread
madlithuanian replied to kyyle23's topic in Bearstalk
I have a feeling that move was more due to Lovie... -
Why am I not surprised...

I guess, for me, I expect better form Booker becuase he was a #2 guy and generated similar numbers as Moose, who was a #1. I would expect a bump up if he were placed back in the #1 role. I'm not sure you can judge the guy well based on this season's 1-15 'fins... And I hate to keep flogging a dead horse, but Moose drops key passes all the time. Booker doesn't drop nearly as many. That means he's doing about the same, but with less opportunity. Not to mention, I just want a guy who wants to be in Chicago. Lip service or not, he's (or through his agent) saying the right things...
-
I follow... I guess we just agree to disagree in the end. ...I do recall a few more incidents regarding Moose passing the buck, but I honestly cannot come up with them. Maybe it's more perception than reality.
-
Wait! My rule book says you can't hook up with Anjelina! Only I can!
-
Give it time, the offseason's around the corner!
-
There is no rule...but it really just doesn't happen in reality.
-
Thanks for throwing out the local perspective on Parcells! Given all that, I'd tend to agree with you! I do tend to give him the benefit of the doubt over his career...but I think the move to get rid of Booker is simply cleaning house for Miami. I don't think it necessarly reflects on how "bad" Booker is as a WR.

nfo, you read my mind!

I'm not sure your point. Yes, it's all just media hype etc... But it is out there. It's not just a guy on this board saying, "Wouldn't it be nice..." There is some legitimate interest whther it's chest pounding or not... There is some basis to this discussion other than just board banter because nothing else is going on. Whether it's it cursory, just being freindly, or real interest...there is a story. Sorry to disappoint you.
