Your statement has some validity. Look at the positions listing in the hall of fame. One could extrapolate that OL is the most important position given the numbers of inductees... http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/positions.html I think we could still debate on when particular ones should be drafted...but your overall point of OL being the most important position on the field certainly looks to have merit.

Spoken with the eloquent sarcasm that only Mr. Wonka could pull off...

Who knows...It's kind of like calling an AP Clerk a Transaction Proccessing Coodinator. Same job basically...different title? Or maybe his last titale was a ruse for basically being waterboy. I'm sure it's a legit bump up.

Dent selected as Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist

I'd love to see him in! He's got a decent chance. I think Thomas, Keuch, Monk, Green, and Carter could be the inductees. -
Yeah...in drafts past I wanted to move up...but it seems like the risk isn't worth it. Especially with the price tag so high for unproven rookies. I guess Benson still leaves a foul taste in my mouth! It took a while to find that Concan pic! I always loved the scene when he got so blotto he hit the deck! Great Bergamn pic! I did not know that! She looked like she was in mad shape, so I'm not surprised! THe original film is a classic in my opinion. THe rest have been pretty awful...but the Milius one is just really spot on! I was always hoping they'd re-visit it with King Conan as an aging tale. But tha'ts been nixed by Hollywood and I think they're going for a re-boot. But, who knows...it could be good!

Exactly!

Not really. I just haven't liked what I've seen from the guy. But maybe he just needs more time. I just don't think we need another project other than if it were in the draft. If we don't sign Rex...then I think a case could be made to bring him in to challenge Kyle and Griese.

I suppose any team could end up being a trade parter. I just don't see it happening. I see the Bears trading down if anything.

Are authorities sure that was his wife? Sure it wasn't his sister? Or are they both the same?

Byrd promoted in coaching shuffle The Bears added a third wrinkle to the changes on the coaching staff as assistant defensive backs coach Gill Byrd was promoted to assistant DB’s/safeties coach. The club announced the move Wednesday afternoon when it also got around to officially naming Lloyd Lee the new linebackers coach, and announcing the addition of Eric Washington to the staff as an assistant defensive line coach. Byrd, a former Pro Bowl performer for the San Diego Chargers, has been on the coaching staff for the past two seasons and was elevated to assistant DB’s coach last season after serving as a quality control coach in 2006. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/01/by...ching_shuf.html

Thanks for the post! I'm printing and reading now!

I guess it's all give and take... Because their D was giving up more points than a basketball squad.

Duly noted! Can we get their scout?

I follow regarding Chow. But regarding Turner, you're a generous guy! How can you not see where the hate is coming from? You may not agree with it, but it's there out in the great wide open. I wish I could recall all his errors, but a few come to mind like running mighty mouse Wolfe up the gut on our own virtual goal line, passing when we should run, running when we should pass, not utilizing our only good receiver Olsen....I'm just at a loss for more at this hour. I'm sure if you give me enough time I can come up with more as I'm sure many other posters could as well.

We do need to realize that what Thomas is to OL, Hester is to KR/PR's...these guys don't come around all that often. Might you know if CLE overhauled the rest of their OL with FA vets? I've got no idea...
-
I know where you are coming from. I'd beg to differ that round 3 is just fine...but I definitely catch your drift. I think OL can be had in FA. We've actually proven that! It's not like this unit had been horrific for years. They just got old fast this season. Especially Miller. Time to change the guard...no pun intended.

Darn private Pyle!

per the Chicago Sun Times 1/15/08: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/01/be...on_with_le.html Bears fill LB position with Lee Lovie Smith will not be conducting job interviews as the Senior Bowl next week. Not for a linebackers coach, anyway. The team moved quickly to fill the vacancy created last week by the resignation of Hardy Nickerson, promoting defensive assistant Lloyd Lee into the position. Lee worked with the nickel backs last season and served as an assistant linebackers coach under Bob Babich in 2006. He was a quality control assistant for the two seasons prior to that. The Senior Bowl is a gathering spot for most coaches in the country looking for jobs, and the action heats up in Mobile, Ala., next week. This won’t be an opening to discuss there.

Another good one! Much thanks! Heck, I'd take Brohm! But I'm odd!

Thanks for the info!

Good plan nfo! I'd sign off on it!

Given that we still have Ron "The Burner of Hope" Turner....maybe it's moot. But would you want Norm? He did do some nice things with Vince Young last year...not so much this year. I think I'd make the swtich personally. What are your thoughts?

Good to have you here Miami! I'm sure Favre is due for a let down along the way...

Much thanks!

Thanks for the info bradjock! I guess we'll keep checking things out...I'm sure it'll be a floodgate of info in a month when the New England party's over and nothing else to talk football about!
