  1. Good points! Your Berrian and Brown assessments I think are spot on. I'm still a little more of the mind to get OL's in FA and in the 2nd or 3rd.
  2. I think you're making some serious assumptions. One being that our coaching are "all knowing". If anything, they've proven otherwise over the course of time. I can think of a few situations like wiating for Olsen to get on the field as one of the most recent. I see your point about hester. But isn't there something called a learning curve? Hester won't get better unless he sees real action on the field. Same with just about any player. Did Hester get better because he was on the sidelines watching and practicing, or because he got in the game and felt how things really happened in game time? I think actual time on the field crushes practice time any day. No one has Hester talent...but that doesn't mean that Beelman and Hass shouldn't have seen SOME playing time. Maybe the coaches are right and all us fans, media, and announcers are crazy. It's possible, but doubtful. I don't fully trust Lovie's talent evaluation. Maybe that's just me. Good franchises tend not to be out of the playoffs early either...so when you are, it's time to see what you have. I loved that we were playing to win and did win. However, I still don't see how throwing in a couple unproven guys for a series or 2 changes that. I'm sure one of the O line guys could have used a few breathers, and one of the WR's could have sat for a few downs. I don't see this as that big of an issue to give these guys some time. Again, maybe it's just me. I never mentioned a thing about wanting to lose games to get better draft picks, I'm not sure where your'e getting that from. I was as happy as a cheshire cat these last 2 weeks! But I think my smile would have turned to Joker-like proporations had we seen some of our young guys get a few minutes out there and perform well. I guess now, we'll never know...
  3. I follow, but still think we need another LB. Briggs will probably walk as you mention, and there's a good chance Ayanbedejo may walk as well. Tack in that Urlacher does have a back issue and that Hillenmeyer looked much slower this year. I think it warrants a pick. I like who we've drafted at LB. I think a good one can be had in the 3rd or 4th. I agree that we don't need another CB, and think we're good at the D Line, but I wouldn't pass up a great DE if available. Ogun's not getting any younger and Brown could end up being problematic. I think we don't need a TE with Olsen in...and probably don't need a K or P either. Not that those count much! (No disrespect Robbie!) Other than that, I think the field is wide iopen for improvement. I'd love to trade down. I like value picks! I'm personally glad we're at least at 14 at worst. The top pay way too much for unknowns...
  4. Heck, that works for me for the most part. Although I'd rather the #3 go to a LB. I'm not fully sold on Brennan, but I think he as with a few others are worth the gamble. I honestly know nothing about Flacco... Ainge is the other guy I wouldn't mind seeing.
  5. So the reply will show up in the post's title. I posted a little thing on it on this segement and the "how to" section. As much as it's a bit odd. It's the only way that you get some verbeage in the titles so that there's an idea what the topic is about. I hope that made sense! I think it probably goes against normal internet protocal, but in this case, I think it's warranted.
  6. Agreed! The traffic here has really been phenomenal! Goes to show... Bears fans are the best in the world!
  7. It's understandable. No one likes them other than Bostonians....
  8. I've put this up in the resular Bears talk section...but in case this comes in hand for anyone else... When replying to a post, make sure to put your reply above/before the initial post, and your first sentence will show up as the "title/description." I hope that helps!
  9. I'm frightened to say this...but I see the Packers over the Colts. The only bright side is I think it'll catalyze his retirement thereafter. I just see NE losing to the Colts. They've been playing games too tight and still are a bit meager running. I see the Pack besting Dallas just due to experience and TO f'ing things up for Dallas somehow.
  10. Agreed...espcially on Hass. I really fault Lovie for that. They should have found a series or 2 for the guy. It's borderline silly. Same with Beekman. I'm convinced Lovie has lost some brain cells...or he thinks the entire fan base are idiots. I'm generally insulted by everything that now comes out of his mouth. Angelo's responses seemed genuine, thoughtful, and made sense. I aslo agree on Brown. I really want him back. He just needs to be restructured and used more sparingly. Ditto on Grossman. I think he wants out more than anything. With teams like Miami, Baltimore, Minny, SF, etc...potentially looking for QB's, there should be interest for him elsewhere.
  11. Agreed! I really liked that element.
  12. They're a poorly run franchise (SF). I'm sure the Pat's knew exactly what they were doing, laughing all the way to the bank!
  13. No problem! I hear ya! I did like the way the threads looked. But I'm over it, and like so much about the new board that it doesn't bug me.
  14. I'm still not sold on a guy that looked good for one season. Sure, he could be the next Brady, but the odds are agasint that. SD's circumstances were totally different. They got rid of a guy that had been there for years and finally started loking good. They chose to go with pretty much the overall #1 pick in the draft, not someone like Quinn who dropped much lower. I do think you're spot on thinking that they will field offers and if they get a doozy, they'll go for it. Kind of like when Minny traded away everything to get Walker years ago. I think only a 1st rounder is too light. Heck, let's not forget about Rick Mirer. He looked fantastic the year before we traded for him.
  15. Great points. I'm not sold on a guy who looked good for only one season. Someone will pay him though...
  16. True enough! Imagine if they didn't spend that though! They'd be right there with Miami hoping for one win!
  17. You must be referring to the Redskins.
  18. Kudos MilwBearMan! I love the post! I'm 100% in agreement! However, I'm conffused on your comments just on Ayanbedejo. What did he do? I missed it apparently... I always thought he wa a hard working guy,etc...
  19. Sorry if I'm late to the party on this one...but I just discovered if you make your reply to a topic ABOVE/BEFORE the "quote", your first snetence or so will be the "title" of your post! Again, if someone's already posted this, sorry. I'm just techinlogically slow and was away during the holidays. BTW - Happy new year everyone! May 2008 bring everyone health, weath and happiness!
  20. I think we need a day one QB regardless. Our 3 headed monster at QB isn't worthy enough to rely on long term. Either 3 can keep the seat warm while we groom a youngster. I think Orton should be the seat warmer, because my bet is Rex goes elsewhere. There's too many teams with the need, not enough good FA's, and Rex has been hammered here too much justly or unjustly.
  21. Geat post nfo! Well thought out as usual! I'm pretty much in agreement with your assessment. I have just a few areas of slightly differing opinion. RB - I think we can keep Wolfe...he needs to shift to WR as BearSox has brought up before. He could be like Gentry was. I think we need to draft a RB and give Benson competition since we're stuck with the bum at least nother season. FB - Kudos! We do need a good one! And I think we could find one in the draft. LB - Agreed! I think adding a guy like Jordan Beck in FA would be a good move to help the youth. ALthough I would also like to draft an LB high if a guy like Laurinaitis falls. S - I genarlly like your thoughts on MacGowan and Payen and Manning. We do need a vet as you mention. I'd be more than OK with Hamlin or similar. I think we keep Mike Borwn. Odd are he'll resrtucture. We just need to name him our starter, and then proceed to sit him immidately after. Putting him in for only a few plays a game until the playoffs or the road to the playoffs. Apparently I'm on crack regarding the draft. I don't want an OT unless we can get Long, which won't happen. Rd 1: RB/LB (Mendenhall/Laurinaitis,Connor) Rd 2: QB/OL (Brennan) Rd 3: OL/QB Later rounds: WR/FB/S/OL
  22. I believe so. I don't think we can afford him. Too many bigger problems to fill.
  23. ...and he needs a diet. ...and he needs a brain. ...and he needs a heart. ...and he needs good health insurance since he's always hurt. ...and he needs a one way ticket out of Chicago.
