The Giants just beat the Redskins 34-28 and now control the last playoff spot. Does this mean that the Pack will make plans to go with then next generation of players to see what they have to offer this team next year? Do the Bears now have the luxury of not needing to leave their starters in for more than maybe the first quarter. We have twenty hours and counting before kick-off and to see if Al & John will talk about anything other than Brett's potential retirement. Two weeks until the divisional playoffs to see if we will be better than 2005 or 2001 or 1991 and get past the divisional game. Then we have the NFC Championship in 3 weeks and in five weeks is Super Bowl XLI. What will happen between now and then, only time will tell. What's your thought on what has transpired with the Giants winning over the Redskins?

I agree with Southsider2K5 on what he is saying. The interesting thing is will Lovie remember what he initially said when he had his introduction press conference that goal one is to Beat Green Bay? Here we go with the second game against the hated Pack and the regular season finale. Then the NFL did one better and made it a prime time game. Another chance for the Bears to prove to the rest of the NFL that they are the team to beat and to send Brett Farve out a loser for his final game of his career. I just hope that the starters do not get rested like they did last year in Minnesota and we wind up losing again on our turf. This is a time to make a statement that to get to Miami, one must get through the Windy City and there is no way that anyone should be able to do that.

Unless we are blowing out the Pack we need to keep everyone going strong and not rest on our laurels like last year in Minnesota. I agree with Brian on this as I am still concerned that come game time on either the 13th or the 14th that we come out flat and get beat once again in our own stadium. We'll see what happens however, IMO the starters should play the whole game and keep the Pack from making the Dance.

That's exactly my point Southsider. How are people supposed to choose just one on this team when there are two clear choices. Plus all the other rookies that are having spectacular years as well. Still not sure who I want. I love what Devin has done to change the games, I love that Mark continues to kick ass on a part time basis. Still not sure who to vote for overall.

Just remember that there will still be a little bit of time after the game ends to get somewhere to celebrate another victory and to ring in the new year. For myself, I like the fact that the game was switched as it guarantees it being shown locally here in Omaha NE. It also allows me to not have to go to some bar to watch the game as I would have had to do when I was still living in SoCal. Sucks to go to watch a 10:00 am kick off and not have the availability of a brunch and have to wait until almost half time to have lunch.

The last I had heard was that the fact that we have already had four prime time showings and are only allowed five in a season that they were not going to move another Bears game to prime time. If they do move this game, that would be real good. As we all know this is the longest running rivalry in the NFL and with no Monday night game next week, this would be a good way for the NFL to end the regular season.

It is getting hard to see how we are going to do in the playoffs. I am glad that we have another victory over a division rival however, when we get to the playoffs what will happen. Glad that we have an extra week to get a little healthier so that maybe just maybe we'll do well in the post season. There was some interesting facts today on www.chicagosports.com that stated the defense for the last two seasons has started out well prior to Thanksgiving and have stumbled a bit afterwards. Giving up only approximately 250 yards per game prior and almost 100 yards more after Thanksgiving. Glad Mike Williams dropped his 5th ball at the end of this game. What happens next week against the hated Pack?

A day like today makes me wonder whether or not Devin Hester is really worthy of being rookie of the year. A couple of abscent minded plays on potential returns leaves me wondering. Then there is Mark Anderson who continues to kick ass on the "D" line and excel. 12 sacks and counting this season and a critical sack and forced fumble to assist in getting this victory.

I have a friend who lives in Detroit and still is not able to understand why Millen still has a job. Here is another franchise that is out of whack and are being led by someone who is very incompetent in regards to professional sports and pro football. I agree with the fans on what they are doing however, I would even more consider to sell all their seats to the opposition's fans. Imagine a home game on the road for the Bears in Detroit? Wait a minute, why would any one want to go to Detroit in the first place.

I am attempting to see if we are real fans of the game besides of the best team in football IMO. I hope to see more people voting with their head vs. their heart. That is why I still have not voted in my own poll as I am torn by all the players I have listed. Each player is contributing to their respective teams and are posting quality numbers.

Incredibly I actually agree with Kyyle23 in regards to what seems to be a priorty for the draft. I think DB and OL seem to be at the top of the list right now. After that we'll have to see what is available as the draft runs its course in April. I still think that we need to find a better quarterback as well to get us to the next level.

I still do not understand what Tank needed with these guns especially since he was already on probation for gun possession problems from before. I wish that players would understand to respect the game and do their best not to create distractions off the field for themselves and the team. I also wonder what really lead to the raid on his home. To have that much in regards to police force there seems a bit excessive. I would love to find out what the real reason is for the raid.

Except for Devin and he still has three regular season games to play and increase his record total.

Sports Center talked about the ESPN poll from yesterday on Rookie Of The Year. I believe that Vince Young has a narrow lead on Devin Hester for the poll and I want to see what my fellow Bears fans think. Here are ten rookies who may wind up being voted for in the Rookie Of The Year Balloting. Who do you think will win the title of Rookie Of The Year and why? For me it is kind of hard to decide. I would love for a Bears player to get the title with Hester and Anderson putting up good numbers to warrant the selection. There are also eight others I have put here that deserve recognition as well. Let's talk about it.

Post game interviews of Lovie Smith stated that he was thinking of putting Devin out there on offense because he is so magical when he gets the ball. It may be something for them to attempt over the next couple of weeks. Devin definitely has added a lot to the team this season as a special teamer.

Do not want to have another Roosevelt Colvin situation. Hope Angelo gets off his ass and resigns Briggs to a respectable long term deal so that #54 & #55 and #92 can control the linebacking chores for quite a while.

AND THATS A BEARS WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
chitownman replied to NUKE_MINNESOTA's topic in Soldier Field
I have to admit that Grossman looked decent tonight however, this one game in a very few since starting out 5-0 that Grossman has looked all right. Defense struggled due to injury and now Tommie Harris is having surgery. Hester is very entertaining however, did not like his showboating at the end of his first return for a TD. Poor Robbie Gould as well, has missed two field goals tonight and that miss in NE seems to be affecting him a little. Glad to have secured a first round bye again. Next up Tampa Bay at home should be another "W" and then up to Detroit. Gotta taken em one game at a time. Teamed looked pretty good except the for 11 penalties however, some of the calls were extremely questionable. -
Update: Tommie Harris done for the year
chitownman replied to southsider2k5's topic in Soldier Field
If that is the case, IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is also stated on the Bears website as well. Glad that Mark Anderson has stepped up all year. Hopefully Alfonzo Boone, Ian Scott, Israel Idonije & Antonio Garay will step it up as well to make sure that we do not fall to far behind. -
Update: Tommie Harris done for the year

Tommie is definitely out for the Rams game and now they are saying that he has a hamstring pull as well which depending on the severity of it, may mean a couple of games after this as well that Tommie will be out. -
It just goes to show how much Da' Coach still loves this team and how in tune with today's game he really is. Wish he would reconsider coaching again and return to the sidelines where he belongs on the Lake Front.

I actually meet Tony in SoCal during the off week that the 49ers had one year and Tony is a very humble individual. Tony would bring some depth to the defensive backs or ideally solidify the DBs. Angelo should sign him before someone else grabs him. Tony is someone I was disappointed to see leave Chicago.

I agree with you again Drunk Bomber. Benson needs to shut up and learn to play the Pro Game and show some maturity in order to possibly get more playing time. At this point and time I would rather have Thomas Jones running.
-
Man; Drunk Bomber, we agree again. I do expect Griese to get some quality time over the next couple of games and I agree on the fact if HFA falls into Jeopardy something will be done at that point.
-
Has not been benched, he has been placed on the IR with an ankle injury which was hindering his play. Garrard will be back at second string come next season.
-
Unfortunately for the Bears. At this point come playoff time, it will be once again One & Done.
