  10. Wildcat lookout? Bears bring in Kent State QB Edelman for look By Brad Biggson April 14, 2009 10:38 AM | Permalink | Comments (7) | TrackBacks (0) The Bears brought in a quarterback to Halas Hall on Monday. But they might have other plans for Julian Edelman. Some clubs believe the Kent State quarterback projects as a wide receiver in the NFL or perhaps a contributor on special teams. He could run the wildcat also after becoming the second quarterback in school history to pass for 1,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. The first? Cleveland Browns electric return man Josh Cribbs. The interest seems genuine. Edelman worked out for the Bears at his school last Thursday and then the club flew him in for a visit to Halas Hall, a trip that likely included a medical evaluation. He is making the rounds this week. According to the Record-Courier, Edelman will visit Miami on Wednesday and San Francisco on Friday, the last day draft prospects can make official visits to clubs. The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly shown interest in Edelman also. He's a shade under 6-foot, 195 pounds and was clocked in the 40-yard dash at his pro day in 4.52 seconds. He's a good athlete with a 10-3 broad jump and a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump. He was a punt returner for the Golden Flashes and also was a safety on the punt team. Teams could be lining up to woo him as a priority free agent based on the late interest. We have added Edelman to the list of official visits and private workouts right here. More on another MAC player the Bears are keeping close tabs on soon. Check back.

  12. http://www.ticats.ca/article/cats-sign-ward-currie-ball CATS BRING THREE RECEIVERS TO TIGERTOWN Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import receivers David Ball, Airese Currie and LaShaun Ward. Ball, a 6-1, 200-pound native of Berlin, Vermont finished an outstanding collegiate career at New Hampshire with 304 receptions, 4,655 receiving yards and 58 touchdowns, setting a new NCAA I-AA touchdown record which was previously held by legendary receiver Jerry Rice. Ball previously spent time on the practice roster of the NFL’s Chicago Bears and New York Jets before joining the Montreal Alouettes in September of 2008. Currie, a 5-11, 185-pound native of Columbia, South Carolina was selected by the NFL’s Chicago Bears in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. Prior to turning pro, the 23-year-old completed an impressive four-year stint at Clemson, where he earned first-team All-ACC honours in football as a senior and was also a three-time All-ACC sprinter. In 2003, Currie won the NCAA East Regional title in the 100m with a time of 10.29. Currie spent two seasons with the Bears before joining the B.C. Lions’ practice roster in 2007. Ward, a 6-1, 200-pound native of Pasadena, California spent the past two seasons with the Arena Football League’s Los Angeles Avengers as both a wide receiver and a defensive back, recording 114 receptions for 1,775 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns. The California product has also suited up with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.

  15. Lets not get carried away here. This move has putt a huge buzz into the offseason but we got better at qb THATS IT. we have 1 OT whos barely played and another who has been hurt the last 3 seasons. we have done nothing to improve the worst wr crew in the league. on d we added an average at best s and need another lb and the only thing weve done with the line is add a new position coach and move idonije back to dl. theres still a lot of work to be done.
  16. We signed him the tailend of last season for special teams
  17. Meh, take it for what it's worth at this time of year. Last year Bradley was our #1 & we were hearing great things about Davis
