I heard another mock last night on ESPN radio where Michael Floyd drops and the Bears dont take him. I just dont believe the Bears could pass on Floyd if he is there at 19.

Nothing 101 - but this is interesting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knitta_Please

I think the Pats scenario is more likely. They cleared 7.2 mil of space today. I wonder if its coordinated to be honest.
-
How about to the Pats for #27? They just cleared more cap space today, would be nice if the moves made by the Bears and the Pats were with this in mind.

I'm getting to the point of wanting to see Forte traded. http://www.kffl.com/gnews.php?id=776748-be...l-bush-addition He's been an overall good guy, but doesnt seem to really understand how the NFL works. There has to be something close to a #1 we could get for him. (of course he would sign the tender to facilitate the deal) How bout Tampa Bay? They have cash to give him.

Lawson played DE as a senior and managed 10.5 sacks. (he's also a 4.4 40 guy at 6 foot 5+) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manny_Lawson

I think the whole thing gets cool until after the draft. If you look at complete lists of FAs, there are a TON out there. http://www.nfl.com/freeagency I would guess they become the one year contract veterans that get signed later in the process. I thought last year, and still do this year that the Bears should look at Manny Lawson as an OLB who could also put his hand on the ground in nickel situations. There are also a lot of veteran OL available. I suspect the Bears hit the draft and then fill needs with low cost vets at that time...as for now I suspect it will be boring until the draft.

Its got to be Mario. The market is going to drive both players sky high for salary, yet Mario is the only truly elite player of the two. I also think the Bears have a real shot on Mario since his chance to pair with Pepp is truly epic and could be a historic combination. After Mario I think there are a couple of B tier guys that would help quite a bit like Meachem and Manningham. After that I think we have to hope Floyd is still there at 19. All in all, I believe you cant get close to good value for Jackson. He will be paid as an elite player when he isnt. I'll take Pepp version 2.0 all day long.

Bears given permission to speak to Jason Licht Again

As long as they all report to Lovie we are good. Dont want anything weird going on organizationally do we.... -
Why no talk of Saints personnel people?

Peronnel is personnel. Bringing them in right in FA is a good thing. Drafting them is a good thing. They drafted 3 probowl O-Linemen. They have drafted their arsenal of WRs. They havent been as good on D...but there are no perfect teams out there. There is no denying the Saints are talented, in particular on O. There is no reason for people not to be sniffing around there for personnel people any less than say the Chiefs. And FWIW 7th round draft picks that are good are a good thing. -

I can find it posed both ways when searching on the internet, and the lack of chatter on it supports the notion that there isnt anyone relevant available with the Saints...but my confusion on it still stands. Payton, even if he calls the shots with final authority cannot possibly be doing all the personnel work. I have to believe there is someone else there with some talent in evaluating players as well. -

That doesnt seem all that accurate to me. They have a GM in Mickey Loomis and a host of personnel people. I've been following this thing tightly via radio, twitter, rss and news sites, and I have yet to hear anyone talking about Saints people at all. Not with the Bears, not with anyone at all. Not a single mention. -

The question isnt even limited to the Bears. Not a single whisper across the league. Like I said, I wouldnt be surprised if the Bears hire a bum. I wouldnt be surprised if Ronnie Woo Woo was the new GM. Edit: Now that I think of it...the Woo Wood thing makes no sense. He's too high profile for the Bears. -
I havent heard one report about anyone from the personnel side of the Saints being interviewed or considered for a job. I find that weird. For a team that drafts well, can run the ball downhill and throw it all over the yard...why arent the Bears sniffing around them? Note: Not that I think it matters, the Bears seem destined and determined to hire a scrub. So the question may be rhetorical for the Bears organization.

I'm not suggesting you find starters here...but they should at least have the possibility of turning into something to be on the team, should they not? I still contend if you know the guy is nothing...you don't take him.

Who is going to trade for Knox when he just got folded up like a cheap wallet? Nobody knows what his future will be like. Healthy I think a 5th is a bit much. Why draft a LB if you know he could never start? Isn't that what street FAs are for? Isn't this part of why we have such depth issues?
-
Don't forget Knox's part in Jay's broken body.

Looks like problem #1 could be solved (at least an opportunity will likely be there) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-franchise-tag/

I dont like Lovie being forced on anyone either...but that decision could be made (and quite frankly might have been made here) by the owner. It's messed up but isn't really an issue tied to having a person in the pecking order between the GM and owner. Its just a bad decision being made by this organization.
-
Who cares if Ted is the next guy above the GM? Usually thats an owner...and they are not generally football people either. I don't get the drama over this point. The concept is hope that the ownership/decision-maker gets it right by hiring a football guy with a clue to run the football side.

I think Bill setting his son up for a job at the cost of the team is a warning sign as well. I may change my mind on Polian...but that doesnt sound very good to me right now.
-
Do we really want Polian? Polian's cupboard appears bare as well...and perhaps hes been on Manning's coattails a little much.
-
This is cool so long as Ruskell isnt the guy. Hopefully Timmy is carrying Jerry's stuff all the way to wherever Jerry is going.

Can I get me some Derrick Johnson to begin overhauling the LB core?
