PFT just dropped this.... http://www.z-and-a.com/index.php?page=Pers...=Text_Engraving holy crap!
-
I would offer their choice of Tommy OR Lance, add Orton, and whatever pick 2nd round or lower. Or next years first...if I get a midrounder from them.
-
Im with you. I think so little has been done that something will have to give, most likely on draft day. If it all goes LTBE we run the risk of being a monumentally bad team this year IMO. THats what my other post was about...Im getting the feeling that something is either in the works, or the financial groundwork is being laid to attempt it.
-
I have no idea. Based on what I threw out there I think Dez Clark has some value. Kruetz has some value. We could move Ogunleye, Alex Brown, or Mark Anderson. I dont think anyone on this list is worth a 1 or a 2. Not sure any is worth a 3. What about packaging guys and later picks? Im not saying at all that I see anything that works...Im just wondering what could be happening, because I dont see the team getting better right now unless JA rolls a Yahtzee in the draft.
-
Just a note - Im not necessarily referring to a trade up per se. Or just a trade up in the first. Im talking about somehow managing to get MORE first day picks.
-
Does anyone else here think its possible that we may try to somehow acquire first day picks from someone, saving our cap space for this year on first day rookie deals and the potential need to re-up Orton? It seems rather odd that we dont appear to be using any of the cap space, and I dont see anyone on the new contract list other than the potential for Orton to get one. Other guys who appear to be in last years of deals are Mark Anderson, Dusty, AP, Ogunleye and Daniel Manning. If it IS possible...or you think it could be...who could we move on draft day to get picks in the 1st 2nd or 3rd rounds? I personally cant think of anyone we could offload of value other than Dez Clark and Olin Kreutz...and I cant imagine there being interested takers. We cant possibly be up to nothing. Can we? Do we honestly expect to sign more than one or two of the guys listed above to new contracts? It baffles the mind.
-
I cant help but call the guy Gerbil...its stuck in my head, I cant get his name right...so if hes not a Bear that's ok by me. I cant handle there being a Bear by the name of Gerbil.
-
Theres a fantastic post by someone named WMB who has the same idea Two of these guys makes a world of difference for this team.
-
I would. Im expecting him to sign for a lower cost in a 'prove it' contract. Hes a boom or nothing signing. He is easily replaced in this lineup by St Clair immediately...and whatever OL is best available at 18. You add Beunning to the depth there - and I am really happy with what I offered up in this post. With Williams Beekman Kreutz Brown Andrews you can go a number of different ways.... How about Max Unger replacing Kreutz or Beekman with St Clair or Andrews at RT? How about Oher at RT with St Clair at LG or swing tackle? How about Loadholt at RG, Brown at LG or Center? I think if the Bears went this route they are set up pretty darn well. Just my opinion.
-
Im not counting on Andrews. I want another lineman in round 1 - plus Im not accounting for St Clair. I think what I laid out provides a pretty talented, deep and relatively young OL.
-
Nope. Chris Brown. Hes got quite a punch. Yes - Jason Brown. I got excited and threw the wrong name out there.
-
With a ton of holes and FA about to begin.... I want Chris Brown ( C) and Stacy Andrews (T) Also on the list would be Leanard Weaver (FB) and Eugene Wilson (FS). Just puttin it out there. I dont count on Andrews to do much...but the return on investment would be great if he can return to form. As far as Brown goes...we could use an established OL that is big enough and tough enough to kick Pat Williams butt 2 times a year. We'll have the cap space and should use it somewhere...this would be my pricey addition. I would still pick OL in the first round in this scenario but then begin to add some developmental weapons around an O-Line that can help out. Williams Beekman Kreutz Brown Andrews Fill in a first rounder of your choice on that line. Then proceed to add WR in round 2 and possibly another on day 2.
-
Leroy Hill OLB from Seattle. Solid solid player. My list says Tank Johnson is a FA as well...just throwin it out there. Stacy Andrews OT CIN IMO as far as QB goes you draft one and let Hanie and the newcomer battle for #2. I might also go for a tier 2 FA leftover at G (but in this scenario Im assuming we draft at least one)
-
at least. Fractured shoulder blade. 2-6 weeks. This 'could' help the playoff cause. "Sean Jensen, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings DT Pat Williams (shoulder) will miss two to six weeks with a fractured scapula, according to head coach Brad Childress. "
-
Im with you for the most part...but we havent signed a $10M castoff. That guy is only here to roll $10M forward into next years cap. That money isnt spent...and will not be spent until next year...on a real player. (theoretically of course...since weve spent a crapload of cash on what looks like fake players)
-
Last week I was listening to 670 and they said Idonije was no longer going to be on the return units because he had become a target. Taub wants every guy to be able to make a play with the ball when it is kicked away from Hester. That didnt include Idonije.
-
No. I never said anything like that...in fact I said he should be paid as the top ST guy in the league (which he is) and have a load of incentives based on his success as a WR. I also said short term. 4 years max IMO. I recognize he should be there...he really needs the reps at WR. But IMO he has a ton of leverage on this...and while Im usually on the teams side...I think he is sorely underpaid...and as one of the most popular players on the team...we shouldnt risk an PR fallout...we also shouldnt risk his not being present for his own good and for the good of the team. I do wish it wasnt a surprise though...thats pretty weak.
-
I think its a decent move for him. Hes proven he is worth far more than his original deal...the cupboard was emptied and the Bears expected him to run with the 1's from the get-go. If Im the bears I make him the highest paid ST player and load a short term deal with LTBEs (WR related) that will either be earned by him, or rolled forward. Timing kind of sucks in that with the Williams signing I thought we were past all of the contract stuff for a while...but I think Hester has good leverage in this.
-
Add this wrinkle....Hester is a holdout as of today per ESPN, the Score, KFFL and others.
-
I can agree with keeping him around if we do indeed end up overly deep at another position...but in my opinion so long as he would be considered a number 2 or 3 - I would consider moving him. Also - signing KJ prior to dropping AP would cause us to lose any leverage in getting anything for AP...so thats give and take there....
-
Nfo - you allude to something I said a while back. AP is the problem. That is because his ST skills are significant and the number of RB slots isnt. I think if you are JA, you have to save Lovie from himself and find a way to move AP. Id like to think you could get a 7th or conditional for him. Once he is gone you have the freedom to sign a Kevin Jones if he is physically able...and then its hardly a matter for consternation.
-
AZ, Im not disagreeing with you per se... But what if Cedric Benson was such a bother to be around...far and above other players any of these guys have been around...that the response was just worse than normal. Not saying doing it is right...but its not like CB was a likeable guy on or off the field from day 1. Maybe its not a special kind of mistreatment by the D....maybe CB was a special kind of knucklehead.
-
Personally Im relieved. I think he'll be gone at this point. No need to try and root for him as it would have seemed to be my fate prior to this.

Terrance Metcalf to be played by Lavelle Crawford of Last Comic Standing
