  1. Well, looking over the roster I saw 8 names that stick out as strong candidates for early cuts, so I would say the first cuts would be amoung these players as the first "bubbles": #01 - Zach Atterbury K #32 - Trey Brown CB #72 - Joe Clermond DE #43 - Josh Gettis S #15 - Ryan Grice-Mullen WR #46 - Leslie Majors CB #79 - Nick Osborn DE #49 - Marcus Stone TE
  2. A little more detailed explanation in legaleze:
  3. I think after last nights game, we can scratch Lloyd of the list of those on the bubble, and there is no way they cut Booker. So if this is true, bye bye Bradley.
  4. I think we will see RBBC - Kevin Jones will see a significant amount of time also. I wouldn't be surprised, if Jones is healthy, a 50/50 split in carries. Might be a good thing, as Rookies seem to wear down in the first year and wind up getting injured as a result.

    Welcome to 4-12

That being said, I'd love to see some continuity with our WR's. It seemed like we were constantly shuffling in Booker/Lloyd/Bradley/Hester and "Stone Hands" Bennett. With the exception of Lloy & Orton on the two minute drive, I didn't feel like any of these guys were in long enough to really show what they can do. I think that 2 minute drive did 2 things, assure Orton the starting QB position, deserved or not is debatable and I am sure will be argued here on the forum, and I think baring a reversal in the next two games, it appears that LLoyd has stepped up into a starters role, as he made some outstanding catches and could be a bargain at the price we paid.

I agree, I suspect, for better or worse, we will find out soon enough, Orton will be named the starter by Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. I also suspect they may then bring in another QB as a #3 option. Then we will be looking at OLmen that may now or in the near future become available.
  7. Hey, I have a spare room for you... you have to pay for the airfare, LOL

    Welcome to 4-12

Gotta agree with you there. A good OL will make just about any QB look better than they might be in that they will have all the time in the world (figuratively) to throw the ball to an open receiver, however, every OL eventually blows it and pressure is given to the QB to deal with. If Grossman &/or Orton can not deal with pressure from the defense, we are in a world of sh#t. Best find out now which one will survive the pressure and make good decisions. With that being said, I strongly suspect we will see an announcement very soon as to who our starter will be. I have to believe they would want that decision made before the start of next week's game.
  9. That catch was awesome, as the announcers said, if it were a regular season game, definately in every top ten play highlight feature on every sports channel.
  10. Yes, I agree, my RBs are marginal. I am hoping to strengthen them in FA pickups during the year, something I have been successful at in the past. I am basically hoping with 3 of the leagues top WRs - all with different bye weeks (important with this scheme) a strong QB, TE, & D, I can still out score my opponents.
  11. Crap, now I remember now you mention it about the birth of their daughter. Yep, senility!

    Welcome to 4-12

I honestly think the performance last night means JA & Co. will be looking seriously to bring in some additions to the OL. It only takes 1 or 2 solid players added to the OL roster to make a significant improvement. I will be anxious to see who he targets in the next few weeks. To me the obvious additions would be Brown & Miller from our earlier cuts, both with a simple 1 year deal, since they both are already acclimated with the players and schemes we run. Miller & Brown were both playing with injuries last year and that is tough to do especially when getting older. If healthy, both could be an upgrade for us either as starters or depth.
  13. With all the hype about how great Rashied Davis has looked coming into camp, thinking back, is this guy MIA? If he has done anything in the first two games it must not have been too impressive for I can not remember it, or I am more senile than I suspected.

How many of his passes where made while backpedaling away from the pressure coming at him? So much for mechanics.
  15. I posted my first draft in the fantasy forum section of the site if anyone wants to give me their opinions. Had 10th pick in a 10 team league so I had to change my usual strategy in the draft room with mixed results.
  16. Well, my first draft had mixed results. I like all the guys but am weak at RB and will have to hope some of the guys come through for me. I am fine, IMO, at all other positions. It was a 10 round draft and I selected 10th, as usual, LOL, and RBs disappeared quickly so I decided to go the WR route for big points. What do you guys think, good, bad, or just so so? QB Drew Brees - starter QB Marc Bulger RB Selvin Young - starter RB Kevin Smith - starter RB Kevin Jones RB Felix Jones RB Andre Hall (handcuff) WR TJ Houshmandzadeh - starter WR Randy Moss - starter WR Terrell Owens - starter WR Dante Stallworth WR Isaac Bruce TE Tony Scheffler - starter TE Zack Miller K Mason Crosby - starter D/ST - Chicago - starter

Looking pretty bad at this point. I think JA will be shopping around. Seattle's D gets good pressure on the Qb so this is a good test for the Bears OL and so far it is pretty dismal to say the least.
  18. We do not need injuries to mount up. Hope he is ok. Checking his knee, ouch.
  19. OK, let me get a grip on what is being said. JA sucks and should be fired; Lovie sucks and does not know how to motivate a team or coach; the coaching staff sucks and has no idea how to develop talent; the Bears are cheap and throw nickles around like man hole covers; we have no OL, QB, & WRs; Urlacher is over-rated; We should trade our talent on D to get players on O; etc... (sorry, I am getting sick trying to remember all the negatives being mentioned on this forum.....) GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO BEGIN. Then maybe we can take a deep breath, look back at all these concerns, and come down to reality. I think the reality is that the Bears are not the team they showed last year. Last year was a disaster, but not for the reasons some think, it was because of injuries for the most part. I expect us to return to the same team we were in 2006 that went to the Super Bowl. I think we have a chance to have a better offense than the 2006 team (not a great offense, but better than 2006). I think our defense is a top 5 defense. I think our special teams is number 1 in the NFL. I think we will kick ass this year!
  20. I suspect it will not be until next week that we see Jones or Dusty hit the field. They are being very careful with both players.

  22. Is your buddy going to sign up for the 10th team? If he doesn't sign up soon, ESPN will cancel the draft.
  23. Yea, Yea, dream on buddy, I am going for 5 1st place trophies this year, LOL 1st I find out I have to take an hour and a half vacation time to make it to the draft in time and then I find out you scheduled it during a Bears' game, ugggh I will make you pay, LOL
