  1. I also think Nicks here would be an excellent value.
  2. I just heard on NFL network that TB is wanting to trade Simms. I thought the kid was looking good before he went down with the spleen injury. I would love to have him in the mix with Grossman & Orton. If they did not want too much in return, I would pull the trigger on that trade quick!
  3. And please define "reach pick". I assume because some football publications said he would not be drafted until the 3rd round he is a reach? These were the same publications I am sure had Hester as a 3rd or 4th round talent and therefore roasted the Bears for reaching for him. In hind site, when the Bears selected Hester, instead of being roasted for "reaching" for him, they should have been praised for getting the steal of the draft. I was listening the other day to Charley Casserly talking about the art of drafting. (This guy should know a little bit about the subject) He said the better GMs in the draft rooms were those who did not worry about what their picks would be perceived by others. They evaluated players and when they found a player they were confident would help their team they targeted them making sure they did not miss out on getting them even if they had to draft them before what others perceived to be their "round value". I think that is exactly what Angelo did. Everyone (as far as I can remember) on the forum liked Forte before the draft. Angelo, Lovie, the scouting staff, all loved this guy. So they select him in the 2nd to make sure another team does not grab him before they do. I am thrilled they had the balls to make this move. There was no RB on the board remaining I would have liked to have more than Forte. We needed a 3 down RB. We got one. Tough, good speed, bruising runner between the tackles, highly productive in College, good blocker, good receiver, great character, and the stat I liked the most, in 4 years never fumbled the ball one time. If this was a reach, I hope the Bears make many more reaches as good as this one.
  4. Ok, I woke up after all the TV and chat room yesterday with blood shot eyes. Little out of focus. When I first read your post I thought it said: Hmm I didn't get to see any of the draft because I had PORN Better go do some eye drops, might be a long day, LOL
  5. Columbo was injured in his rookie year and eventually given an injury settlement.
  6. Most teams needing QB big time have taken one. However, Denver usually picks a QB every year and has yet to select one. I have to believe MIN would want someone to develop behind Jackson who I think sucks big time. Does DET have anyone behind Kitna worth shouting about? NYJ do not seem too happy with their QB situation either. Last time I checked Garcia was 37 and will need someone to back him up better than what they currently have. Was Carolina happy with their QB play when their starter went down? Just throwing out some thoughts.
  7. Please tell me what OLT was available in the 2nd rd that would be any more than a work in progress and a bench warmer for at least 1 or 2 years. By the end of the 1st teams were reaching big time for OL prospects because after the 1st 6 it was a crap shoot.
  8. My 3rd rd wish list: Roy Schuening (OG) Josh Johnson (QB) 4th Rd, best WR available After that address DT, S, maybe a blocking TE, in rds 5, 6, & 7 With our 3 compensatory picks get anyone who looks like they would be good candidates for our practice squad.
  9. Looked plenty fast to me. Seemed to have a lot of power. Looked like he had good vision and was able to cut back into the open lane. Looked like he could run over a tackler. Seemed like he hit the hole quick. Elusive. Played on a team with basically no passing game to keep the defense honest and faced a lot of 8 in the box yet was highly productive. Yep, a totally wasted pick, what was JA thinking of, LOL. Sure, we could have waited until the 3rd round. If he was selected by another team before we got another chance, then we could bash JA for that. We all agreed the #1 priority was to get our running game back on track. We drafted a highly rated OLT and a nice looking RB prospect 1 & 2. Posters are upset? What am I missing here? I LOVE THE PICK!
  10. Excellent turnout considering. Hopefully we have a few still looking to send in forms. (I wish I had waited, seems from reports on the TV I may have blown the #2 pick which would also make my #4 pick wrong. Ouch, sure hope reports are false, LOL. Need STL to trade out of #2!!
  11. Just curious, how many entries do you have so far? With the last minute decision to do the contest I am still hoping we have a dozen or more entrants.
  12. According the the Pick Value Chart Buffalo's #11 pick is valued at 1250. Our 14th pick is valued at 1100. We would have to give them our #11 and our second selection in round 3 (#90 - valued at 140) to swing the trade. 1250 points for 1240 points (maybe throw in our regular 7th rounder as well which is another 9.6 points making it 1250 for 1249.6)
  13. I agree, however, I just can not see JA doing this. I can see him on the phone now trying to make a move down the board. As long as we get 2 good prospects for the OL in the first 3-4 rounds with the first being one of the top OLT prospects we have all been discussing then I will be fine with us moving down. Needless to say if we got Clady or Albert, I would be ecstatic!
  14. Yes, what makes this contest so difficult is that players drop (like Quinn last year) and that reshuffles the order of picks, players we never suspected would be drafted in the first are selected in the first, again bumping the selections, trades, etc... I think many of us will have a good 70% or better rating as far as who is selected in the first round. However, I would be greatly surprised if any of us actually get 10 or more correct selections as far as where they are actually picked. What I would think was a no brainer selection for a team turns out never crossed the mind of that teams GM.
  15. No, unfortunately, they changed it so only the first 2 rounds are on Saturday and then they finish up 3-7 on Sunday. That change I do not like.
  16. Good job Ashkum - I will be around. Not feeling well, may have to take a break or two, but hope to be here as much as possible. I have been watching this draft since ESPN started televising it back in 1980's. I couldn't watch it when they first started televising it because they use to do the draft I believe, if memory serves me right, on Tuesday's. Once they moved the draft to the weekend in (??) i believe in 1982, I have watched every single year.
  17. Yep, good job Balta - Thanks for running the Mock Draft for TalkBears!!
  18. I am hoping to. I will have to see what can be done for hosting the contest, it requires almost daily uploads during the course of the season. If I can get access to webspace then I will probably give it a go.
  19. Just sent you my excel file for the contest. Thanks for taking the time to do this for the forum. All of us who migrated here from BearsTalk certainly remember ITC3's yearly draft day contest. It was fantastic that you decided to take on this responsibility this year.
  20. I wish I had hair like that. Come to think about it, I just wish I had hair, period.
  21. 29 (60) Green Bay Packers - Pixote GBP select Dustin Keller TE Purdue Next: 30 (61) Dallas Cowboys - The Prophet On Deck: 31 (62) New England Patriots - Neobear 32 (63) New York Giants - Neobear
  22. I have regained entry into the site manager for the chat room so I was able to edit the entry page so that when you type in your username it shows up ok. For some reason it was white text on white, ouch, now the text is black on white. TalkBears Chat Room Hope to see all of you who can make it join us for some fun during the draft.
  23. What the heck, I will give it a try. Should be fun.
