  1. Im still not sure. He threw a go ball way short last week, but it could also have been because he had a hard rush coming in his face. Today they took Bagent off the field for the hail mary because of his arm, but then again I think our coaches are idiots. I would love to see Bagent show me some deep balls. That would help my question a lot!
  2. That's what I think too. If Bagent had a real long ball, he'd be a contender to be Bears starter next year, passing on the rookie QBs. He is an excellent backup though, I expect us to keep him for quite a while.
  3. Interesting that on the last play of the half - a hail mary - they put Peterson in instead of Bagent. I suppose thats a partial answer to the question of Bagents arm strength on long passes.
  4. Exactly. When you look at QBs like Montana and Marino - they played calm and fast. The numbers are flashy, not the athletes. Bill Walsh would love Bagent. Meanwhile, Eberflus mismanaging the clock again.
  5. Right. I'm not saying Bagent is, or ever will be a top NFL QB. I'm saying being a game manager is the floor one should accept for a QB. If you cant do that, all the extras and intangibles in the world dont matter enough to win games. That's what we need to have learned. Bagent is very crisp. And suddenly normal things like slant routes work.
  6. Yeah, Bagent may not be a superstar in the making, but the ball is coming out on time and it makes ALL the difference. It looks like a regular football team. When Fields is in there it never looks like regular football. Its always a crisis. Sometimes Fields does amazing things to win in those crisis moments. But it never looks calm and regular with 7 yard passes in rhythm. Bagent's performance is telling us something about how Fields isn't the guy. Whatever other skills our new QB has, I want him to have that kind of calm quick release.
  7. There was an article about Davis in the Tribune where they slipped and said that Davis' mother died - that's what that was all about. He was going to see her as she was dying etc. Why the hell they didnt tell us that and made Davis look like a head case is beyond me. Just more of that great non communication from the Bears office...
  8. Thank God. I had read (or misread) that it was Poles - maybe the source i read it from had it wrong, or maybe I just misread it. But given that, then I am fully in support of Poles - he's done a lot of good things. The only way he goes is if a hot shot coach wants control or his own guy, and if Poles doesnt want to play ball with that. I dont anticipate that though, so yeah, let's keep him. Thanks for setting me straight DABEARS and Stinger.
  9. I'm with you on Poles, but don't forget he had a trade signed and delivered to send THREE of our first rounders for Russell Wilson. Pete Carroll nixed it at the last minute or else we'd have no DJ Moore, no Darnell Wright, no first round picks at all this year or next...
  10. yeah the OL is starting to take shape for sure. we still need a couple players. But overall the roster is starting to fill out I agree. We still need a top 10 QB, and there are only 10 of those in the world, and half of them are gonna be top 20 next year LOL
  11. Fields is a stud. By all accounts he is the first one in and the last one out. He is disciplined, and trying his hardest. Everyone likes him. He has amazing physical tools. The throws a great ball. He's a tough kid. He wants to play through the injury. You really want to love him. But he's just too slow processing and has some extra movements in his release, both of which cause the ball to be late. His footwork still isnt set or natural, and he fails to identify defenses, blitzes and adjust protections and routes. If he could overcome those things, he could be a top 5 QB easy. BUt it's basically the core job of being a QB that he's missing. And for whatever reason, it doesn't get any better. The team around him has improved, and when they arent injured, the team itself looks like it is on the cusp of taking a step. But Fields is still slow. He still doesnt see the open guys in rhythm. When he does see them, he gets the ball there late. I love his moxie. I want him to come back and get better as fast as he can. id love to see him show me he understands the tempo, but I still havent seen it. Even in the Denver and Washington games, people were open, he got protection and he completed some passes etc, But it wasnt crisp. Compare it to Bagent's tempo. Now Bagent has his own issues, but in terms of making decisions and throwing with anticipation, In that sense, Bagent is a great example of what Fields needs to do. If he can do that, he can get his extension. But so far, I havent seen any real flashes of it. ANd certainly nothing sustained.
  12. I dont hate him as a person. He seems nice. He lies when he doesn't have to, but OK. What I can say for 100% sure that he is not a special head coach that gives your team an extra edge to win above and beyond the level of talent on the roster. And that alone is reason to get fired. You can be an average coach who is competent, and while that works in other jobs, it's not enough for an NFL coach. There are thousands of OK coaches out there. You gotta be looking for one that's special. And I can tell you that Getsy and Eberflus are not special.
  13. Yes that IS good news. Maybe Fields sees Bagent working in rhythm, and increases his tempo? It'll give the staff film to show him...
  14. I guess you can add trainer to the list of people that need to be fired?
  15. I agree. but you cant put two top first round QBs that are still both trying to ascend on the same team. I dont think you can anyway. And with so much draft capital and a year of high rated QBs, you kinda have to take one.
  16. I think we need to draft Caleb Williams and Drake Maye with picks 1 and 2, so we get at least one NFL QB. Ha. Im kidding of course. Its why we cant have Fields and Williams (or whoever) next year either.
  17. he had a quick release
  18. theres film of like a 5 year old Payton Manning, with a huge forehead, saying hes gonna be an NFL QB lol. It makes sense since his Dad was one, but still it's kind of chilling. They come from SOMEWHERE...
  19. yeah. Bust. seriously though, those throws on top of the rubber ball are pretty amazing - it's all arm and core. Im gonna need to see him against some 7th grade competition LOL
  20. yeah i dont think they are trading him now, just like they arent firing Eberflus now, but i think we are talking about after the season is over. You're totally right that he could come back and play well in a few games and increase his trade value. But if you pick a QB that you want to be your starter, you gotta trade or cut Fields - having them both around would be a recipe for trouble.
  21. unless more than one team wants him, but yes, at this point, he isnt worth much. he needed to stack a few more games to increase his value.
  22. I'm gonna need to see the kid under pressure LOL
