  1. Yeah, a lot of people fall victim to the fallacy of sunk costs. You already spent the money - keep the best players, no need to justify the $ it's already gone either way. Plus when you cut these guys it's good for team chemistry. people get the idea that this isn't a cushy gig where you can half ass it. I like what Poles and Eberflus are doing. i imagine we will get better every year for a while.
  2. I figured the best we'd get at this point is a 6th rounder or something. If we get an IOL, they'd have to be able to make the roster or it's pointless. So if they can get someone of that quality, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Yup - HITS philosophy in action. Earn your spot, or see ya.
  3. Leatherwood never got any better. It's so surprising, he has physical skills, and he was highly drafted, but in the end, he's not a football player. We must be liking J'Tyre Carter and starting to trust him. I also think with Jenkins' injury, they see they will keep Patrick around, so that leaves Leatherwood as the odd man out. I'm surprised that he never developed, but Im not surprised we cut him today given that he didnt.
  4. Interesting that it's just one foot. Who knows what to believe about what's written in articles. Information is foggy for sure this time of year.
  5. If this helps any of the readers of this thread, two seconds of googling provided this article on the NIH website. The NIH is the National Institute of Health, a government agency that was leading the way to the deployment of the COVID vaccine, so they are no anti-vax source. You couldnt find a source closer to the center of the production of the vaccine than the NIH (along with the CDC of course, they work together). Nevertheless, even THEY say this: "The critical issue now is to concentrate on protecting individuals against illness through immunization. One of the causes for concern among the researchers, physicians, and generally the whole community from the onset of vaccination has been the adverse effects (specifically blood clots) that may be observed after the injection of the COVID-19 vaccine." So this is not anything that is being debated. Every side agrees. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9055170/ And for what it's worth, I would NEVER post anything partisan or political on this site. I surely have my views as we all do. But I dont want to bring that here. Thats the reason I am so dogged about this right now, its because I was very careful in my post to avoid anything controversial or political. I love this board, and I learn a lot here from all of you. Im not here to fight. I would rather shake hands and move in in actual mutual respect if possible.
  6. nope. not even close. If we want to avoid this topic, thats fine, but youre not gonna claim anything i said was wrong or even controversial while pretending not to say anything and suggesting we not say anything. I said nothing partisan or even at issue. The CDC agrees as do anti vaxxers. Nothing in that list was even slightly incorrect or debated. If this helps, I did not even claim the mRNA breaks into the nucleus or reprograms DNA or anything like that. But 100% mRNA does cause the body to create COVID vaccine in the body. That's its entire purpose. And Covid vaccine includes the spike protein, and the spike protein is linked to clotting. Nothing at all controversial in any of that. So you can either apologize for misreading me and then claiming I'm misfiring, or you can cite what you're talking about. I don't think this is the place for this debate, so if you want to avoid having it here, don't make short little put downs. But this hit and run, and then back to football is BS. Wanna just stop talking about it? Cool. But don't get in some last word non specific dig on the way out, especially when you're either wrong or you misread me. I think we can do a better job of mutual respect here AZ. You wouldn't like it if I spoke to you that way either.
  7. youre not totally wrong tho - it IS on NFL Network tomorrow.
  8. If you have NFL Sunday Ticket it is available there too. Preseason games didn't used to be - so that's a new thing. Hopefully it works. Its no longer a separate app on my TV, now its inside of the YouTubeTV app. I need to find my way around that app - so its preseason for me too LOL
  9. fair enough. I didnt think it was a joke, but youre right I could have missed it. if so, apologies to Killa. I do know that we are politically divided as a nation, and I wouldnt want to bring any disputed or partisan issues into this board. We are united by our shared love of the Bears, and there is no need to infect this awesome place with that divisive stuff, from either side. So I definitely wasn't trying to do any of that.
  10. Its on NFL Network (delayed) tomorrow at noon Chicago time
  11. there no tin foil to any of what was said. these are straight facts, literally no one disputes them. 1) The Covid protein makes people sick (it is a virus) and the spike protein in its shape is responsible for clotting and other side effects. Thats why people who get Covid have a lot of the side effects that come with getting sick with Covid 2) The Covid mRNA jab puts mRNA in your body where it programs some of your cells to make Covid vaccine. That's how it works. 3) Vaccines are a portion of the full protein, that is incomplete, so you dont get sick from it, but it trains your body 's immune system so it can fight the infection. In this case the portion of the Covid protein that is in the vaccine is the famous spike protein. 4) whether present in the blood by Covid infection or mRNA inoculation, the spike protein causes clotting issues. None of this is in dispute by anyone - from the CDC to the most anti vaxers. These are facts that everyone agrees with on all sides. The tin foil hat comment is just ignorant of the facts - and again, I have not said anything here that isnt agreed on by all sides including the CDC etc. Literally nothing here is in dispute.
  12. That's a good point too. The spike protein causes these clotting issues, whether they got there from a COVID infection, or from the mRNA shot that programs your cells to create COVID vaccine, which includes the same spike protein. Either way.
  13. So, Ive been operating under the assumption that Bagent's arm wasn't that strong. All his college highlights are short passes, accurate, but not especially zippy, and none downfield. Then I start reading today that he is considered to have a strong arm and accuracy is his issue. Now the guy had a 69% completion ratio in college, and threw 159 TDs and only 48 interceptions. You dont do that if youre not accurate. And I saw no evidence of a strong arm. So now I am confused. I dont see how this guy went undrafted unless there is a major hole in his game, and accuracy wouldnt be it - not with his production. It MUST be his arm. Do sportswriters really just get caught in an echo chamber and suddenly you find a bunch of articles all saying the same wrong thing? I will be very interested to watch him this weekend. I hope they dial up some long passes too. Hmm
  14. I just don't believe any of it really. Again, no offense to anyone here who posted the story, or thinks some or all of it is true - just my opinion.
  15. AZ, the story is that Davis didnt like getting written up for a loaf, and they wouldnt let him play until his attitude changed, and Eberflus took two weeks of taking him out to dinners (including what they ate) to convince him that its not an insult, but that coaching makes players better and now they are on the same page and happy. No disrespect meant to anyone, but B freakin S.
  16. very interesting. i hadnt considered clots. what a time to be alive.
  17. yeah I was thinking 3rd round / 4th round. and youre right, if you can keep him on the field he is coming into his prime. but you need a viable backup to roll with him, and that makes you wonder if youre not better off with another player in the long term. Its hard to walk away from talent, but I dont see the Bears investing a big contract in him after the 2024 season. That makes him someone you roll with this year, but next year will be his last before a big deal, and you might already be transitioning into another player depending on how the draft falls. And yeah, I agree, probably a 3rd or 4th rounder. You probably keep Jenkins on the roster in 2024, because you want that rookie to have a year to grow, hit the weight room etc. but he wont be your future plans in 2024. It's too bad too, because when he's healthy i think he's gonna be a beast.
  18. Yeah, he just seems bit by the injury bug. You gotta be looking to replace him next year.
  19. right, but then again, he practiced yesterday, which is a good sign!
  20. I think theyre being careful with guys, and if we had a game to play today, maybe only Jenkins and Claypool wouldnt play.
  21. I totally agree. I thin k this kid will help Fields. If Bagent had a stronger arm, we might have a QB controversy in Chicago. Of course he wouldn't be in Chicago, he'd have been drafted high by a team that needs a QB. The things he does well, he does very well. So well that everyone is looking. His stats in college are ridiculous. His speed making decisions, and his accuracy delivering the ball are top notch. There is every reason to root for this kid and think he might be a difference maker. But unless or until he shows that he can threaten the whole field, and deliver those out routes on a rope, there will be questions. If he manages to prove that a half second lead from quick decisions beats ball speed, Ill be a huge fan. Im rooting for this Rudy to become something special. I'd wear his jersey if he could do that. But, just like Sandborn's speed (or Kwitkowski's!) in time, the limitations are extremely likely to mean he won't be an NFL starter. Wouldnt it be fun to see him break the mold and prove this wrong? And all that said, hes absolutely a viable option at QB2! Id keep him for that.
  22. I was JUST watching this as you posted it! It's about as a good a job of QBing as you can have. I don't think he has a long ball though. Hes a great option as QB2, but if he had a stronger arm, he'd be a top NFL QB immediately. I will be rooting for him to find a way to show us that if you make your decisions fast enough, rainbows can beat defenses. Or maybe to show more arm than Ive seen from him yet. But the only reason Im even saying this, is because if it wasnt for that, this guy is amazing even as a 5 year starter. You just dont see QBs make the right choices so consistently and so fast. Like Mongo said, maybe some of it will rub off on Fields. He's got to be a competitive guy, and to see someone in your room killin g it like that is gonna light a fire, and inspire Fields too. Is he too young and limited for QB2? I dunno, I'd throw the dice with him.
  23. nah if Justin fails, we will draft Caleb Williams or someone - Bagent is a REALLY good QB, but he doesnt have the long ball, and if defenses can bring a safety up on every down, youre screwed.
