  1. we have a professional organization now. its something I am totally not used to. great to see.
  2. amen brothers. shut them all down, get that draft pick and emerge as an actual football team!
  3. Oh yeah, Im not saying Jones isnt a keeper. Im just saying that he will get no special treatment. Poles will take the best option available. If he thinks that's Jones, then Jones stays. All Im saying is that none of these guys have a get out of jail free card. Everyone is under the microscope. We could have 5 new starters, or 2 new starters on the OL. Anything is possible from this point. Jones is just another free agent in the eyes of Poles at this point. That's all Im saying. That we invested a 5th round pick in him wont give him any extra love.
  4. every GM has an ideal allocation of cap dollars in mind for each position. We can find free agent for any of those slots at prices we like. Doesnt mean we wont stay with Braxton Jones, but we could cut him or make him a backup and it would cost us basically nothing, a 5th rounder on his rookie deal. If there is a guy out there thats great and costs what youre willing to s[pend on LOT you get him. In no way am I saying we should enter cap hell. What Im saying is we are wide open with cap space, and can afford players all over the place.
  5. Leatherwood was just an example, and goes for any player. Including Braxton Jones. if we can get a serious upgrade, then we will do it. It doesnt matter if you tried hard and did better than expected. We have a lot of cap room, and so I think anything is possible on the OL. We have no loyalty to any of these guys. Jenkins is a keeper on merit. The rest? Depends on what the options are.
  6. I dont see why he wouldnt spend money on 4 Free Agents if he thought they were good players at fair prices. They dont all have to be highest paid free agents. Why keep Leatherwood as a starter, for example, when you can pay someone $8 Million a year to be much better than him. With $160 Million+ to spend, you can afford that.
  7. I think Poles will look to free agency, and bring in more OL players than you think. There's no reason to stick with any of these guys if an upgrade is available. We have the bucks and there are a lot of good FA OL out there. I wish there were good WRs available, but OL help is deep,
  8. That's what I saw too. And too many times this year, I've seen Mustipher standing all alone, arms out, looking around while chaos burns behind him. On a weak line, he's a weak spot.
  9. true, and this goes for every position on the roster that doesnt start with a Q.
  10. yes brisker screwed up, but it was also an aggressive play call in the first place too. and that's good, I like it, but it shows the coaches are in evaluation mode instead of win now mode because they arent playing it safe. For example, if we were in the playoff hunt, Kmet never would have been asked to block their top pass rusher on an island.
  11. I think a new center will fix a lot of this. Its usually the middle guy who has to see the stunts coming anyway, and the center calls the protections too. I wouldnt be shocked if we had four new OL starting next year, none of whom is on the roster currently - especially by, say, week 8 of next year. Poles is an OL, he knows when it's bad.
  12. So in retrospect, Flus says Brisker hit the wrong hole, and had he executed the play the way they drew it up, he'd have blown up Hurts at the LOS. So, I dont think the staff is calling bad plays on purpose, but I do think they're being risky, which is a way to evaluate players and lose games without losing fire. So wrong blitz on purpose? I personally dont think so. But blitzing a lot which is high risk high reward? Yes to that, and against a team like the Eagles, that is enough.
  13. yeah but i dont see how the team we watched today could lose to both the Lions and the Vikings.
  14. sounds like it was a bad stinger, and he may have been paralyzed for a moment. That would explain the whole team standing around so somberly there for a bit. I hope its not anything that could more likely happen again.
  15. and to catch it! this is what I see from too many of our receivers, they are waiting for the ball to come to them, rather than attacking it. Given that Fields is still progressing, that ball's often coming a fraction late, so the defender is closing faster, and attacking the ball becomes that much more important.
  16. Despite having generational running talent, he really is a passer first in his mind. As the game slows down for him, he is going to become incredible. Job One for this staff was/is to develop Fields. If you think about where he was 14 weeks ago, this is a tremendous achievement.
  17. at the time, Poles knew he didnt have bullets in his gun and he was trying to create competition in the WR room. Well, weve seen the competition and Velus didnt win LOL
  18. he was taking flyers on WRs that have some attributes but didnt make the first two rounds. He knows you cant coach speed, but you might be able to coach a guy to hang on to the ball. But nope. Hands and speed are both attributes you have or you dont. I dont blame Poles for trying on a speedster, but I think we all see that it just isnt happening.
  19. Jones is a fumble waiting to happen every time he touches the ball. I dont see him ever being anything major for us. I dont think he makes the 2024 roster.
  20. Ive been thinking about this. How do you lose games to gain a draft pick while simultaneously evaluating your players fairly AND keeping them wanting to play hard and stay in the game? The answer is you call plays that isolate the players. You put Leatherwood one on one with their best pass rusher without a double team. Ditto Kmet. You blitz through one gap and leave the other one open. You tell the players "its on your shoulders, youre on an island, go win" and they probably love that. And you find out who your studs are, and you lose games. I think we will see a very different approach next year. Also, this has been Field's best game as a pocket passer. Again. He gets better every week.
  21. Hurts is a good QB and Fields is still growing as a passer, but I dont want to hear any more comparisons about Hurts and Fields both being running QBs. Fields is a far superior runner.
