put him at left guard and move whitehair to center?

I do believe that some refs are petty tyrants. I do believe that some refs seek ego satisfaction and even revenge against certain players for personal reasons. I do not believe the refs try to throw a game for one team or another, or that the league is involved in anything like that.

I think all the good influence that Nagy had on the Chiefs offense is starting to fade. But I mean, he set them up for several years of dominance. Hes a genius. Be you!

I think we saw our team today. We saw the strengths, the weaknesses - the roster. For the first time we could see it because the game plan and play calling was regular. It wasnt inspired and genius, but it wasnt random and illogical. It was regular football. We have a way to go, and Fields has to keep developing. But if anything is clear from today, it is that you could see FOOTBALL for the first time since Nagy was here. Not overly cute fancy and out of rhythm calls. We have a lot to fix before we will be a contender, but there is no reason for Nagy to even return.

I just called... to say... you're fired.
-
yeah but when the running game is working so well, how can you only get 3 points out of it?! THAT is bad coaching.
-
If your concern is the psychological impact of fields getting hit on his future career, consider the psychological impact of being replaced. At least now he can fight through. Also, Ive seen nothing about Fields' demeanor that indicates he cant handle this. The team might play better week to week with Dalton, but we pulled the trigger on Fields. We ALL did, and now we have to see that through.

So then why didn't Pace play that card during the offseason? Count that as another BIG mistake.
-
as a coach, how do you get the performance you got from Herbert, and still not manage more than 3 points? It's not like Nagy has the answers and the players are failing him. Herbert had one great run after another, but once again, Nagy failed to create a rhythm out of the running game, and covert it into points. It doesn't take an expert to see this train wreck now.

I have a theory that Pace sees firing Nagy as disloyal - and that is absolute malpractice, and will result in Pace being fired as well. Unless the people above Pace have the same problem.
-
If youre going to fire Pace next year, why saddle the new GM with a coach he didnt pick? And potential coaches know this. So unless you promote from within (Pettine) firing Nagy and keeping Pace right now would mean Pace wouldnt have a chance at the top candidates for head coach. This failure of leadership happens above Pace, and should have fired them both last year, and really needs to fire them both this year, at whatever the most advantageous time for getting the best replacements are.

The lack of coverage on the first punt - coaching When your running game is on FIRE and you still cant put up more than 3 points. - coaching When they are blitzing your young QB hard and rather than leaving in TEs to protect him, you ask him to find hot reads among 5 players? - coaching When some leaves in some TEs for a couple plays and suddenly the passing game looks good, but then you never go back to it again - coaching When the defense quits and wont sell out their body because the offense cant score points or hold the ball - coaching. When ANOTHER of your players takes a swing at an opposing player AGAIN - coaching. Show me one thing Nagy does that helps this team. Tell me why he would be better than a bar of soap. Pace doesnt have the guts to shoot his babies when they go bad. And that's the essence of his job. So he goes down with the ship. Fine. His choice. He will be remembered as nice and loyal. There will be no Super Bowls for him. He had no business being GM if he couldnt do the hard work of handling or firing Nagy. He was a pussy. Didnt want people to be mad at him. Fine. Then you get fired. Unless the next level up has the same problem... Grrr.
-
no doubt if youre going to fire Pace, you let the next GM pick the next coach.
-
if you're looking to keep the current coaches but lose Nagy, then Pettine would be the logical choice for head coach. No one has to leave their current positions, and you get a guy who has done it before.
-
No I get it - you dont want to blow up something that's working. But I think we will see a difference between Fields' improvement, and rhythm and gameplanning. I dont think we are going to win 11 games this season. If we do, I'm open to looking at how that happened of course. But if we are 9-8 and Fields is doing it on broken plays, while the regular offense is out of sync, then Nagy HAS to go. Put it this way - Fields is not Nagy, so if Fields himself is growing, that's not a reason to keep Nagy. Nagy has to show something on his own too.
