  1. Don't forget, there will be free agent money to play with. And I agree, we need a new player for Leno. He is AWFUL.
  2. Miller is still making immature mistakes every week. But he is also getting better every week and his talent is undeniable. I think he is going to be an excellent receiver next year.
  3. no point in arguing it now, but I believe strongly that in the future you will change your mind.
  4. we talk about blame. rightly so. just saw this on youtube, and I think the voters nailed it.
  5. I agree about the OL. It's so painfully obvious, anyone can see it. I assume that includes the staff. As for Montgomery, I couldnt disagree more strongly. In time, I believe you yourself will regret saying it. What I see is an incredibly hard worker with amazing vision and rare ability to make cuts who has ZERO holes. Give this guy even an average run look, and he will make you buy his jersey.
  6. right on. And we may have young players in the wings ready to step up too. Like Bars...

    Leno

I'm all for the growing steps this team takes. I just think it has to be without Leno next year. I suppose you can read what Im saying as complaining and negative, but underneath that, there is optimism and hope. Thats why I want Leno gone, so the team will be better. I gotta say, I think we havent seen the Lawrence Taylor type speed move that drops Trubisky because Leno has been so susceptible to the bull rush. Think how many times Mitch was throwing with Leno in his lap this year. I agree the last couple of weeks the pass pro has been better. But if you watch the YouTube "tape never lies" every week, and look at Leno, it's incredible how bad he is.

    Leno

hes not just losing physical battles, he is out of position and blocking the wrong guy over and over. He is better on the bench.

    Leno

yeah the penalties, but he is unable to even make a block. He is consistently AWFUL. Of course he isnt the only one to blame, but he is worse than we even think he is. With a halfway average OL, this team would have been 12-4 again, even with all the disfunction. Sure Nagy didnt call running plays, but this OL didnt block them either. Just a waste of a season. In fact, I will go so far as to say that If Leno was the 15th best OT in the game, just middle tier, we'd have won several more games this year.

    Leno

I'm just looking at some footage from the Cowboys game, and able to watch certain players rather than the ball on the second look. Gosh Leno is terrible. Just awful. I think if you had to find one player to blame the whole season on, he might make a good candidate. Of course it is more than one player, but Leno is probably the worst player at any position on our team. YUCK!
  11. It's because we traded up for him, and the national media had no first hand knowledge that anyone was trying to trade for the #2 slot. It's SO silly. But that's what narratives are.
  12. neat info about the three way tie. very weird, and totally inside. thank you!
  13. Tua is going to be a top 5 pick, he will not be there for our mid 2nd rounder
  14. Just for clarity's sake, I was arguing FOR the prevent, so that quote above is mis-attributed to me
  15. You know I've been one of the biggest Nagy detractors on this site this year. But I agree, he is changing. I could make the point that he has been stubborn and slow to change, and defend my position, but nontheless, I have to agree, he does seem to be making changes that need to be made. Hicks is back this week. Let's see if they can keep rolling.
  16. It's like buying insurance. You can not buy any, and then you pay nothing, but if your house catches fire, then you get nothing, or you can buy increasingly more expensive policies that cover your risk more and more, but also then you pay something out of pocket no matter whether your house burns or not. You can play regular defense, which is like not having insurance. You dont give any easy yards, but the possibility for a big play exists. You can calculate how likely you are to lose such a game based on how much of a lead you have, and how much time is left. OR you can play a big zone, and buy insurance. The cost is you give up 8 yards at a time. But you greatly lessen the chance that the other team will get a big play. And that lowers the odds of losing if you have enough of a lead and time is running out. And of course, all those 8 yard passes burn time too. There are times and score differentials that dictate when it makes sense to start running the ball safely and playing zone to use up time quicker than the opposing team is likely to make up the points. It's not fun to watch. It seems like they are coming back. But when we were up in the middle of the 4th and started buying insurance, the odds of losing went DOWN. The odds of finishing with a closer score went up, but the odds of losing went down. If you get 20 in blackjack, you stay. Yes a 21 will beat you, but hitting again is almost surely going to bust you.
  17. addition by subtraction. every one of their replacements has outplayed them. It's great to see the depth players stepping up. The two new tight ends have been looking promising. Lucas III is outplaying Massie. Miller is growing. He still has to mature, but he is a tough player and getting better. Even Nagy has settled into running bootlegs and power running schemes without pulling OL. I wish we had someone to sub in for Leno though. On defense, Pierre-Louis had a great game. Kwit is doing well too. Tolliver looking good as well. And we get Hicks back next week. Trubisky played well enough last week and especially this week that he will be the starter next year. So our early draft picks and free agency money can go to OL, CB, OLB, DE and TE. So Nagy has done a good job keeping the team on track. Dont get me wrong a big part of the obstacle they have had to overcome has been his fault too, but I think if they play well down the stretch here, everyone from Pace and Nagy to Trubisky probably saved their job for another year tonight. I still think Nagy and the OL have been the real problem, and Mitch is no hall of famer, but they do seem to be turning a corner. And getting Hicks back is going to make a huge difference. I sure hope Roquan Smith is OK.
  18. well we can take some solace in the fact that one way or another, those numbers are going to change drastically based on tonight's (and this weekend's) outcomes
  19. lol in the worst year of Brady's career, aging and without and WRs LOL Trubisky also threw more touchdown passes this year than Brett Favre did.
  20. The wild card race looks like this: SF 10-2 Minn 8-4 LARams 7-5 Bears 6-6 If we win tonight, we will be 7-6, a half game behind LARams (who own the tiebreaker over us) and 1 1/2 games behind Minnesota (and we own the tie breaker over them, but will play a second time) We are on the cusp of the playoffs, but a lot needs to happen for that to be real. Getting Hicks back will make a huge difference, but the Bears will have to pull this one out without him against a good Dallas team.
  21. I dont see how we can put awful players on the field just because their contracts are huge. I hope Pace doesnt think that way.
  22. that article also says the Bears have the 8th best pass blocking OL in the league. No freakin way. All you have to do is watch some. They are atrocious.
  23. yes. we need a lot of changes on the OL, no matter what our current OTs are being paid, they simply cant play. We have to replace them. and add a road grading guard, becausea converted DL is not gonna make it. I think Daniel and Whitehair are the only ones who will keep their jobs, and even they arent 100% safe.
