  1. yup, well said. but if you are the #2 pick overall theres gonna be pressure anyway. I think the added pressure is gonna be good overall. as to people who are getting crazy about every throw, thats what a certain kind of sports fan does. they watch sports so they can criticize and seem superior. weve literally had members of this board say that theyd do a better job as gm based on the info that we all know, than the actual gm with all his resources and scouts. they wont ever understand that theyre wrong. theyll just bluster, so we ignore them. i am sure nagy isnt thinking about what jason thinks for example.
  2. i agree entirely. it is fair to say right now that Trubisky is the weakest link on the team. Heck if you were only going to play one game today with no future you might even think about starting Daniels. but this season is about Trubisky growing. they sure have surrounded him, and he absolutely is showing flashes. he needs to make fewer bad decisions, work on his long ball accuracy and just keep growing. and Im rooting for him. hope next week is even better, and after the bye week we ought to hit some kind of stride if he is developing.
  3. Mayfield was in the offense all last year too. Trubisky is just learning it. I saw a talk show where they compared Trubisky to a student driver slowing down traffic behind him. i think that's about right. We ought to see more good this week, and continued growth, and expect a couple head scratcher plays. maybe even game losing interceptions. what we need is to see 90% of the plays executed correctly to know that we are on track. That said, we have enough horses that we oughtta win this one, and i expect to see Trubisky mature each week.
  4. Last year was the rest of his college career. He is like a rookie in this offense.
  5. I think we all agree that Trubisky's game, as a whole this week, was not good enough. If you had a journeyman free agent like Mike Glennon with that performance, you'd can his ass. I think we all see that. But there is no franchise QB available to just go pick up. You've got to grow one. And here we have Trubisky, showing flashes, talent, long drives, and making mistakes, along with a new staff and new receivers. Am I making excuses? Nope. Trubisky as he was this week is not good enough. The whole offense isn't good enough. But seeing as how they all JUST GOT HERE, it seems prudent to give them a few more weeks and see what develops. I think the smart money says this offense looks a LOT better at the end of this season. But if it doesn't, then we can talk about that then. Right now, this is what you've got, and it's too early to say. If you're a fan, it's a good time to cheer and root for them to improve.
  6. yup, Trubisky showed it last week too. Right now the game is too fast for him. He is also showing all the traits you need, and the lightbulb could come on at any time, but right now, it's still too much for him at times. The offense is showing tho, sustained drives etc, but dumb mistakes are holding them back. Defense looks ferocious and when Roquan Smith wakes up in a couple weeks it's gonna be ridiculous. It will be fun to watch the team grow, but the offense looks like a baby predator right now. It looks cute sometimes showing the moves that will be deadly some day, and then it will trip over its own tail too. soon?
  7. I think Irving and Fitts are below Lynch on the depth chart. SO we have a 3 man rotation right now in Mack, Floyd and Lynch
  8. This is just superstitious thinking. What is the common logical thread? The uniforms? I can't say that they will win or lose, what I can say is that previous teams with different rosters and coaches have no bearing on the ability to predict this game, and even if they stink tonight, it STILL has nothing to do with it. It's like classical conditioning, they ring the bell an d now you salivate, but people who do critical thinking and not psychological pain avoidance would just measure the teams.
  9. Not with all these WRs we have now.
  10. I've been thinking about this, and I think Mack belongs next to Richard Dent. He can play any position, but I think he's more of a DE than a LB. I know this is a stupid point, but I'm a stupid person, and this is what i think about LOL
  11. this is a great way to see who is locked in, and for how long. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/yearly/cap/
  12. well, for better or worse, this is your team. these are the faces. this is a complete roster, more or less. Im optimistic. It's been a long time since we HAD a complete roster, and I think we may have an all star staff of young coaches. now lets go kick green bays ass.
  13. I don't mean to make too much of the Pace/New Orleans connection, but the last two teams I remember with four outstanding linebackers like this, were the 1992 Saints, and Fangio's San Francisco defense. I need to see it on the field, and there is chemistry and Trublisky's development yet to come, but we have the most upside/potential of any Bears team since 1985.
  14. Well said. I agree, Pace is doing a great job, and his final value will be determined by Trubisky. I don't agree that Trubisky needs to be franchise level starting this Sunday. I think this whole team will grow over the year, especially the offense. I agree that by the middle of this year, things ought to start rolling. So I think they have this season to gel into the team they are going to be. This roster has the possible, as yet unproven, ceiling to be a dominant team. I don't think I could say that about any Bears roster and coaching staff since 1986. They still have to put it together on the field, and it'll take time, and no one can say if they, and in specific Trubisky, will reach their (his) potential. But on paper, Pace looks to have done an incredible job of assembling this roster and staff. I'm very excited to watch it develop on the field. This should be a lot of fun.
  15. I agree with everything except the contract. Part of this is a new deal from him that they are negotiating now. YOu can bet it will eclipse Donald's deal, and he will be the highest paid defensive player in the league. And almost certainly worth it too.
  16. Lynch would make sense, filling the need at the same position. Amos is another possibility? White is on the list too. What if it was only one first rounder and Floyd? I'm not predicting that, but how would people feel about that?
  17. The Cubs built a winner by pushing several years' value back into one very rich year. We seem to be doing that in reverse. We've added next year's draft to this year. Our draft next year: 1) Khalil Mack (and he's not a rookie! he's a known quantity, and he's ready to play) 2) Anthony Miller we get them for an extra year (now) and we get them with a year's chemistry under their belt next year. The real price to be paid will be 5 years from now, when all these deals are ending or have ended, and we dont have those 2019 rookies in the pipeline waiting to step up. But is that really a risk? Miller will be there, a year early is no big deal. So you gotta make up some depth value either in good drafts of lower picks, or picking up free agents, some time in the next 4 or 5 years. Seem pretty good to me. In the NFL, everyone's got the same cap. In fact, if you had an expansion franchise with NO players on the roster, and simply let them start with a completely empty cap, they'd have a shot at ending up with a pretty decent roster. The teams that are in trouble arent those with bad players, theyre those with bad players who are under long terms deals. Like the team Pace inherited with Cutler. So we've been pretty facile over the past few years, keeping cap room, building, not being too attached. That ended when we signed Trubisky. Pace is choosing players and locking them in. If these are good players, if this is a good roster, then we are in great shape. If not, then we are stuck again. So the real question here is simply: is Khalil Mack a good player? Is Trubisky? Is Roquan Smith? Anthony Miller? Robinson and Gabriel? Hicks? Goldman? What about Fuller and Amukamurah? Ladies and Gents, this is our team now. Go ahead and buy your jerseys because the names aren't going to be changing for a few years. If you like most of those names, then we are in great shape.
  18. I think Pace is doing an excellent job.
  19. yup, he had a good game, and Fitts is looking pretty good too. Plus we haven't even seen Lynch yet. Wims made a case for himself today too. It's good for the team to get a good look at depth against starters before the cuts.
