LOL - thats a funny question. Value-wise, while I disagree with it, it makes sense to ask the question. But the league, the press, the fans and players arent computers, and IF Pace traded Mack, he'd probably get fired soon thereafter.
-
It might be time for the youth movement on the right side of the line.
-
I think a lot of the mental breakdown you see from Trubisky is because he doesnt feel comfortable in the pocket due to the OL play too. He isnt progressing as he should, but its not all because of him. Still, he isnt progressing, so it IS him in the end, but Im starting to think the path out of this isnt a new QB but new OL talent, which is easier to address in the offseason than a new franchise QB would be. That said, after a few more weeks of him, I might be really fed up.
-
Kwit isnt fast enough. he plays with a ton of heart. He is probably closer to the limit of his potential than any starter on our team except Mack. But his potential isnt that high. So I love the guy, but he simply cannot cover receivers, and the league knows it. Pagano hid some of that in his gameplan which was great, but kwit has already reached the limit of his capabilities.
-
Next year we might have a couple new OL, and they will be on rookie contracts, so we can afford to eat the bad vet OL money, even though thats not great.
-
thats how I read it.
-
the answer to all of your questions is "because the OL has been sucking" When I say Mahomes gets his receivers open, Im saying he looks off safeties. Daniel has done that too. Not as well as Mahomes LOL But in all cases, when you stare down your primary receiver, guys dont look open. Also, OTHER guys may be open and bad reads disguise it too. I think this is all on the OL and QB play.
-
I think what we are missing is a combination of the QB using his eyes to open up receivers, and the OL giving him time and space to do that. I think the WRs and the plays are fine. I wouldn't be shocked to see some new players on the OL, but I dont really know if anyone on the bench is really better than any of the starters. Except Long. He is done.
-
they are wide open because Mahomes uses his eyes to manipulate coverage, and find the open receivers. Notice how all the Wrs are in blanket coverage when Trubisky is in there, and the same receivers are open when Daniel is in there? Im not saying Trubisky wont get better, but this is who he is right now. And "some day" IS running out of time...

whatever the answer is, I hope Nagy is true to his word and watches closely enough to see what needs replacing. I love the family vibe he has fostered for the team, and standing behind people as they work through bad patches is an admirable trait, but sometimes you gotta make a change too, and I think and hope that this staff is able to do that.

round and round it goes... I think this loss and bye week came at the perfect time. I hope Nagy means what he says, and takes a critical look at his team and makes changes.

Id love to see it.

Schefter: Roquan Smith was not himself at practice

he looks OK. If it doesn't re-emerge, then cool. But if other stuff happens, people are gonna ask. For now, go kick some ass. -

no doubt Pagano kept Kwit out of coverage as much as possible. And when it was unavoidable, it was Pierre-Louis in there. I like Pagano a lot. -

Another possibility is that they sat him out last week as some low level punishment or treatment, and they already know he's back and don't want to tell the Raiders. -

Good analysis, his head might not have been right for some reason. And whatever it is, if it's a one off, and he's back to normal no one is going to care. But it is fair to wonder if it's something that will hang around. Depression isn't really about whatever issue it is that's making it worse at that moment. It's usually an underlying condition and the issues that come along are just triggers. Eventually little things become big reasons if it isn't dealt with earlier. Again, I think we all agree we all have no idea what it is. But I think it's normal to wonder, and to hope that it isn't something that will be ongoing. We all want to cheer for good Roquan, and we're all hoping, in different ways, that there isn't a bad Roquan that becomes any kind of issue. -

Im not speculating as in trying to guess exactly what happened (which is what speculating is) I was REALLY clear about not knowing. I was investigating the space of possibilities that the information contains. Not picking a specific one to assume, but instead playing with what little we do know to at least put boundaries on what KIND of thing it is. Anyway, it's national sports, and we are sports fans on a sports talk page all we DO is speculate LOL -

For sure lets hope whatever it is everyone gets past it and Smith goes on to be happy, healthy and productive. I have no desire to dislike the guy, or carry a grudge. I love the Bears, that's all. But it was something, and sooner or later something will come out. And if Roquan was a jerk and out of control, that's kind of a personality trait of some great MLBers too. I doubt Dick Butkis was all please and thank you every time. It's cool if he has a nasty streak. But he'll have to keep it in perspective and no go Antonio Brown on us LOL For now, its a small thing, and whatever it was, no matter how nasty, if it doesnt include police and it doesnt happen more as a pattern, we will all get past it of course. -
I just want to add that while signing Kaepernick would certainly bring distraction to a team, that a starting QB is about the most useful thing there is to a team, and these guys would rent out their grandmothers to win 3 more games a year. So if Kaepernick was a viable option at QB based on his play alone, more than one team would have looked to sign him after all this time. So i think we, and others are passing on Kaepernick on his abilities alone, before even considering the rest it.

It feels like maybe he was talking back to coaches. I have NO information. That's just what for me fits the data most likely. But Im just making that up, there is no evidence whatsoever. Or maybe he got in trouble with the law. Drinking, fighting, I dunno. Ok, making up stories off the top of my head: Maybe he was out at dinner or something and someone called him a bad word and he hit them, and then told the team about it and was honest. Maybe they dont know if the police will file charges yet. I mean, Im not trying to guess here, Im just trying to sort of define the universe of things it's probably in. I could guess that he was running around naked screaming that he was King George too, but it seems less likely LOL
