If you recall, Emery (Cliff Stein?) included clauses in Cutler's contract whereby the Bears had the option to free up cap money by guaranteeing more the next year. Sounds like they did that. No need for Cutlers agent, because it's not a negotiation, just an option the Bears have.

I think we draft Shelton, and Ratliffe plays at both NT and DE.
-
I think we are blowing a lot of smoke and will take a NT with the #7 pick. I think Ratliffe and Sutton are 3-4 DEs, not nose tackles. Furgeson might be a NT.
-
Also, you don't just evaluate players you are interested in, you evaluate ALL players so you can predict what others might do or think, for trades etc. Imagine if a trade for Cutler came up on draft day with Mariotta there for the taking. Regardless of what you think the right move is, you'd want to have done your homework to KNOW the answer definitively on short notice when the moment arose. Every team will do homework to see what they think of Mariotta no matter who their QB is. It's part of being thorough.

I agree 100%, I dont think anyone thinks removing BM will fix Cutler, I doubt they think there is a good chance THEY can fix him either. He's just gonna be our QB while we build this year, and if he surprises us, then great, and if not then we have a high draft pick to draft his replacement.
-
Yeah I'm fine with the move too. I think it was more about reeling Cutler in than anything else, but that's my personal theory. I feel that if Cutler and Marshall had each been trade-able, that it might have been Cutler that was gone.
-
Thomas Jones was a very good player for us. The draft picks were awful.
-
He has every right to talk up his new team. Some people have it out for him, personally I respect his talent, his work ethic, and how he handles himself given his personality disorder. I'm a fan of Brandon Marshall the person.
-
I dont post here much, but there is another way to look at the Brandon Marshall trade. Personally I like Marshall a lot. I respect him for how he works his Personality Disorder, and I believe he is talented and passionate. I understand why people are not happy about the trade. But there is another angle, and that is that we cannot seem to get rid of Jay Cutler. And the problem with Jay Cutler it seems is that he won't execute the play and make the reads, but instead locked in on Marshall, and played sandlot football. Between the lines I think a LOT of coaches have held their collective tongues while Cutler believed he was above it all. We read how Gase will look to limit Cutler and make him play in a system. I assume that if Cutler was a free agent, we would not be interested. Therefore, it makes sense to me that trading Marshall was the only move they could make to break up the band, and try to force Cutler to play in a system. BM has good years left, but he probably isn't going to be around when this build peaks anyway, so from that point of view it makes a lot of sense. I wish him well in NY, and I remain a fan of his and not if Cutler's. I truly believe that if they had the same cap hit, Cutler would be gone and BM would be staying.

He slammed Tucker as a Rooney Rule hire. First off the Rooney rule doesnt apply to coordinators. Secondly the rule doesnt require a hiring, it requires an interview. Im not even sure I support the rule frankly. But to say that Tucker is bad and only there because of his race is racist. If you guys are cool with racist statements then Im out of here. Good luck in your hateful little lives.
-
Nope. Racism is disgusting. Im not trying to have a political discussion, I didnt bring it up, Im simply not gonna sit around here while Terra says racist bullshit. Im not trying to have a broad based discussion about race, that has nothing to do with it. I am shocked at the apologists here. You simply dont care? WTF
-
I asked him to distance himself from the comment, and he refused. it was clearly a racist statement. Im pretty conservative politically. Im not one that goes looking for racism. I support the officer in Ferguson after what Ive read. That said, I have no tolerance for actual racism, and all Terra has to do is take it back, and he refuses to. So, it speaks for itself. Hes a pig.
-
Id like to ask the moderators to ban Terra please. He has been a total dick for years, but that was always about football, now this racist crap is over the line. DO the right thing or I and it seems a bunch of us will leave.
-
Listen you racist dickwad, I dont need to get over anything. All you need to do is retract your Rooney Rule comment, but you wont,. cuz youre a pussy who is too big to admit hes wrong -OR- youre a racist asshole. I dont care if I get banned here for this. I know right from wrong. Youre a major asshole, you racist freak.
-
Right the freak on.
-
Yeah this is a load of double talk horseshit. You mentioned the Rooney Rule, because you were talking about his skin, now you dont have the courage to either stand behind what you siad or distance yourself from it. Youre a freakin pussy. You really are.
-
You said he was a Rooney Rule hire. Maybe you want to distance yourself from that, or claim it more strongly, so far youre taking the third coward route.
-
Ive heard you say some pretty dumb things on this board, but this one takes the cake. Mel Tucker might be the dumbest worst football coach of all time, but it has nothing to do with his race. Even you should know better. You should be ashamed of yourself. As I see it you have three choices: 1) Retract your statement and apologize 2) Be overt that youre a racist and you stand behind what you said 3) do neither and be a total coward
-
He is a returner, and Weems was one of our best ST coverage guys too. Stands to reason a fast defensive player is a good choice to get down on coverage and make tackles too.

LOL GO Sulster!

He's not saying that he doesn't think about the Super Bowl, he just mispoke about the month. I am CONFIDENT that he thinks about, and wants to win the super bowl more than any of us want them to. I KNOW he's working harder every day on that idea than we are. Further, I have 100% confidence in Trestman's focus and ability on keeping his players in the right place to work towards a Super Bowl victory. If you want a kicker who does a better job kissing press butt over one who kicks the football, then I gotta wonder whether YOUR priorities are on winning the Super Bowl LOL Anyway, I dont think its an issue, and Im not particularly upset about it or this discussion Thanks for the distraction!
-
Do you think he got to be a few kicks shy of the greatest kicker in NFL history by not caring? These guys invest more hard work in themselves and football than I bet any of us do in our jobs or hobbies. You're calling him out on a misstatement, and attempting to make it mean something it doesn't, especially given that he was saying that they should be super committed right now. That was his point. This is silly.
-
If you want to judge his attitude then listen to what he said and the context he said it in. He was saying that he is fully committed to this season, even so early in the year. That this is NOT the time to take a vacation, but instead to be serious and work. The rest is some semantic voodoo that makes no sense.
-
LOL that anyone thinks Robbie was saying that he doesn't want to win the Super Bowl I mean come on. And LOL at the GMs in here that would cut him for that too. He's the best kicker in Bears history, and hes just a few kicks shy of the best in NFL history. He meant after the season.

Yeah, happy Father's Day to everyone!
