  1. I truly hope so! If we got good production out of our safeties, we could be a VERY scary team this year.
  2. So as you probably know, but for the benefit of the discussion, the Tampa Cover 2 is kind of a misnomer. Sure they play that zone, and others. But the thing that really defines the Cover 2 is that the front is a one gap front. Your comments clearly show you knew that already From what Ive read, they will not be changing to a 2 gap front. But Tucker did allude to changing some fo the run fit rules, i.e. which one gap a given position is responsible for. I like the one gap front. I think it's aggressive and maximizes the possibility for QB pressure, especially on running downs. That said, a one gap run front also lends itself to blitz packages. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw a more diverse scheme from Tucker this year. That said, being in a set zone while the front four gets fast pressure is certainly a recipe for interceptions. In zone, the players are facing the QB and reading him. I can't wait to see the new scheme, even if it's not that different, and especially how the new talent plays within it!
  3. I agree, our front office is doing a great job with the cap, and contracts. I do think we are ascending, and will be contenders soon.
  4. I think to go out and dominate in the NFL you need to have a chip on your shoulder. It's different than how we would talk to each other, but it's good to believe in yourself. I'm sure it's a mind game to try to consider yourself amongst the best in the NFL, so that he can verbalize that is a good sign that he's not over his head. And, he might be right GO BEARS!
  5. It sounds like Werder asked a Cowboy staffer "How much interest is there in Urlacher" and the guy said "not much" and from that he took it to mean there was some, and then had to backtrack. "So you're saying there's a chance?"
  6. Cool, for real, with no sarcasm. I really AM sorry I upset people, other than my intending to smack Jason over his response of course. And I'm sure he'll come back, which is also fine with me. i don't hate him either, he barked, I barked back, I'm pretty sure the transaction is done. It is for me anyway. The rest, we don't have to agree with, and Lucky, I do understand and somewhat respect the point you're making too. I may not be 100% on board, but I respect you too. I'm not mad at anyone here. Because none of this has to do with football. I would never call someone names just because they thought Urlacher had some left in the tank for last year. It's an interesting debate, and people are free to disagree. It was about behavior, and in that sense I agree with you Lucky. I was sick of seeing Jason be nasty and personal in all of his comments. I was offended, for different reasons and in a different way, but also having to do with civility and mutual respect amongst posters. My initial comment was symmetrical, I used the same word he was throwing around, but when he came back with the history lesson, I went for the rhetorical knockout. I'm a creative and colorful guy, and I definitely crossed some line when I did. On purpose of course, and I got my primary desired effect as well. But the unintended secondary effect was the chaos it caused, and for that I am both responsible, and sorry. I realize I made some people uncomfortable, and that was not my intention. So I just want to tell you it's extremely unlikely that you'd see more of the same from me. And 100% that it surely wouldn't be over a substantive disagreement about football. So again, to the people on all sides of this discussion, my apologies.
  7. Thank you to Lucky for showing us that offensive speech can be achieved without using profanity. I dont think that not being able to yell "fire" in a crowded theater has anything to do with whether or not I respond in kind to Jason's assinine name calling. What you didnt like was that I won, somehow you seem to think I should have measured my response to be symmetrical to his, but that's waht people who believe in censorship always think. But I'll tell you something else. I dont have a rep here for bad language. Im not a bully. But yeah, I was sick of Jason calling people dicks. So I called him one back. Then he got really mad and brought up something from YEARS ago, saying it was me who didnt let it go. Ironically it was also about censorship. So I smacked him. It felt good too. But no I dont go around doing it regularly, and you have nothing to fear from me. I like this board, and Jason is welcome on it as far as Im concerned, but he got what he deserved too. Now let's get back to football shall we?
  8. I agree with both.
  9. Um, I didn't dredge that old shit up, Jason did. Read the thread. But yeah, dont get in MY face about how you rewrote MY post? Ya know? Also, Jason was calling people "dick" left and right, so I returned serve, cuz I'd had enough of it. Jason is not a victim, let's be clear. As for drinking the Kool Aid, that has nothing to do with it. You can believe Urlacher would have helped last year or not, and have a lively discussion all without acting as he was. This wasnt about that.
  10. Cool And it's all good. It takes a lot to ruffle my feathers, and this was a long time coming with he and I. Now, can Cutler live up to the situation around him? I think he can, but the question will be one of discipline. I sure hope he has it, because I think we are building a Super Bowl team here. Maybe not this year, but then again why not? GO BEARS.
  11. LOL yeah the Packers suck. For the record, Im not saying Jason should be thrown out. Im not even in favor of court mandated anger management classes LOL As for the rest, I think I was already pretty articulate, it doesnt need to be re-said
  12. I love this place. I am sorry if my fighting is causing trouble. I just had to say something, and then defend myself, but I CAN let it go. The whistle has sounded, so I will stop blocking.
  13. LOL yeah all the bitches that couldnt just accept your "authority" - isnt it obvious to anyone reading that if all these bitches were complaining about you, that maybe it's YOU? I mean it's not like everyone reading this doesn't already know how you are. Today it's my turn to be the target of your anger issues. For real, get over yourself. And yes, you did rewrite my words, and apparently you don't even have the moral courage to back your own sh-it up. Dick.
  14. And just so we're clear on how we got here, Jason was calling someone ELSE a dick on this board for the umpteenth time, and like a Dad at a playground, I felt it was enough. SO I called HIM out on it, which of course is unacceptable if its HIM lol at which point HE brought up his censor bullshit, not me. I am HAPPY to talk about the Bears. I dont need to fight, but you need a time out Jason.
  15. GOOD, I hope you leave. For the RECORD, Jason is lying. I made a post which was about FOOTBALL, and in it I made a NON PARTISAN political analogy. Jason, as an admin decided it was inappropriate, more because of the football opinion that he disagreed with by the way. But even still for an admin to delete a message is OK I suppose. Instead, he DID rewrite words. And he didnt mark them to say he had rewritten them. He made them seem as if they came from my mouth. He can say what he wants, and call me bitch all he likes, but he is lying, and I think these words apply to him more than they do to me. Jason, you are a prick, and I suggest you get on with whatever your next topic is, because you are a pissant and I will never consider myself to be even on your low level. You can pee all you like, but it smells like water to me, youre a child. What an asshole.
  16. Thanks. I can't wait for training camp. I am SO excited for this season.
  17. LOL I generally dont get mad at people for expressing a contrary point of view! My beef with Jason goes back a long way, and is based on a million examples Ive seen both to me and others. The rest of you are unlikely to get me angry. But yeah, Jason is a prick.
  18. Doubtful, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna take crap from a little punk like Jason.
  19. Yeah fu-ck you. You DID edit a post of mine, you rewrote words and attributed them to me, as a power hungry admin. Crybaby? Nah, Id just kick your ass if you did it to my face. You're a contentious and arrogant little prick. If admins dont like this language, lets start with the guy who initiated it. Seriously, grow some fu-cking hair on your balls before you try to challenge me. And IM a Crybaby LOL
  20. Im not SO surprised that an Alaskan speaks Hawaiian, after all theyre right next to each other down there in the gulf of Mexico, just look at any map. Sometimes you just have to take a minute to THINK about things, ya know?
  21. You know, you're absolutely right about this. They DID ask Marinelli to stay, and is they were doing that, it stands to reason that they were going to let him keep as much continuity as possible. The also DID offer Urlacher a contract, and it was better than any other offer he received. I think it's evident that the Bears were open to Urlacher returning in some scenarios. So to say they just turned their backs on him, it's really not the case. Some may feel that they should have given him $5 million and given him the season as his personal farewell tour. I get that, he was a hero and a leader on the team for a good while. But like all athletes, he got his glory on the field as the result of his ability and efforts, and when those fade, so does your value to that year's team. I don't think you have to let an athlete play past the point where they can contribute just to honor their legacy. I don't think you should have to overpay them either. No, the same ruthless competitive spirit of sports that made Urlacher what he is also dictates that a time comes to say maybe you're not what you once were. The Bears gave Urlacher a middle ground offer, but the person that really closed the door on his return was Marinelli, not the Bears. Once the decision was made to go with Tucker, it was right to let Urlacher go. He does have a history of speaking his mind when he's unhappy, and his declining play wasnt worth the risk OR $5 million off of the cap to rebuild a new defense. Look at how Peppers may have given up too. His play certainly declined whether by attitude or age. He was another stud that made the Bears awesome, but given his play last year, I am thrilled to have Jared Allen in his place this year. If you want to throw urlacher scenarios around, consider Peppers as a model of what could have been. And it's funny. I would MUCH rather have dinner with Peppers than Allen. But that's not the point. Winning is.
