Exactly. We put together a competitive roster, but it has too many older free agents. A great sustainable team develops through the draft, and reaching for positions is the best way to minimize your draft capital, so being flexible is key. Now we have a good roster, and Caleb's rookie deal gives us the money to do it. The next phase will be to replace those players with best player available over the next few years of the draft, and then we will be a real sustainable franchise. Hopefully, when the time comes, Caleb emulates his hero Tom Brady and leaves some money on the table so he has someone to throw the ball to. Poles knows this, and now that we have a real coaching staff who can help with player evaluations, the future looks bright.

He's an edge - big bodied like Allen likes. I feel like signing him instead of a larger name hints at us drafting an edge player early in the draft? Either that or they think Booker will continue to develop?

ANy RB (or QB) will do better with a better line, so of course i agree with you on that. My personal opinion is still that Swift isnt good enough, and I think he will at most split carries with a running back who isnt on the roster yet. Possibly he will do even less or get traded, but his cap situation says he stays this year and is gone next year. So I forsee him being RB2 behind someone we dont even know yet. But this is all just my guess. I KNOW he isnt good enough, I agree he will be better with a better OL, and the rest is just my opinion.

at first blush, he's a little guy, but he has some twitch to him. Maybe he could provide some of the slot role that Allen gave us last year.

There is no doubt that having elite measurables is a benefit, in other words the same OT would be better with longer arms. My only point was that you cant just look at arm measurement and determine that a guy cant play OT, because there are other factors too. The film you showed was definitely troubling. I dont think all of it was due to arm length, but some of it was, and it did show poor hand fighting for example too, and playing too high, and those are also problems. Im also not saying we should or shouldnt take Campbell. I need to see film on some other OTs first. Without knowing a lot, Banks intrigues me. But the answer is always there on the film, and this film didnt look so great for sure. Seeing it on film means more to me than hearing measurables is all Im saying.
