The combination of Caleb over/under throwing and getting passes batted down, the WRs dropping catchable balls, and the oline being door greeters, the Bears should have been better and the game Mayne won much earlier. It is game 1 and Caleb is the first #1 pick rookie QB to win his first game in like 14 years. I'll take it.

The Bears have some good draft capital that should go into both trenches next draft. It still doesn't help now, but it can be addressed with 4 top 100 players.

Ian Rapport reports Justin Fields QB is expected to start. I hope he plays well and excites his fan base and team to keep him starting. That draft pick would be sweater if it becomes a 4th.

Little nuggets, waiver claims start tomorrow at noon. The waiver priority remains the same as the draft order, which the Bears are 9th. So with the Bears being 9th and OT depth likely the need, is there any released players worthy? I think they are happy with Pryor and think Kiran can be capable in a few weeks. I see little movement unless they shop Herbert or a young DE. I still cannot believe they kept RB Homer and WR Carter. Velus Jones is listed at WR again too. Poles and Flus were loyal with keeping these bubble players...add E Hicks and Dom Robinson who may have been out performed in preseason to the list. Next year will be tougher yet. Figure todays group minus the 2025 draft 1st rd, two 2nd rds, a 3rd, 5th, a conditional 6th that can become a 4th (JF) and a 7th. Not all will make this team or Poles will trade up or out (future picks) with little roster room. Jenkins and Allen are the notable fa losses, and the Bears will have cap to resign one for sure and with magic both. I cannot remember a Bears team that has looked this bright with the window to last and add talent since maybe 85.

Fingers crossed we get TE Bates and DB Stewart and Moore. One of the QBs too.

I am surprised at this one. I thought Bates would make it because of his upside and Waldren preferring TEs.

I haven't seen it either, but from everything that I have seen, the chemistry is above and beyond from any of that I've seen before with QBs and team. The team/players came to him from the draft process and he took it in and has ran with it. I think we are in for a special run with a "lebron" era as much as it hurts to say.

I think i heard the announcer say he is similiar to Cordelle Patterson with his size and speed. He can be a solid/good returner and maybe see a few plays each game at RB. His end around last year was almost always a good gain.

I think Velus Jones helped secure him a job. Try to stash Wheeler on PS, cut Homer. RB: Swift, Herbert, Johnson, Jones and Blasingame. The injury to Larry Borum hurts since Kiwan is not up to speed, so this might be a position the Bears target in fa. Steward with sticky fingers put himself in the spotlight.

It's hard to hold a roster spot open for a guy in who won't be ready, so we may see him redshirted. He does have 2-1/2 weeks to get into shape before the season, so he has a shot to make it. After the first 3 or 4 games, they could call on him to dress on game day. If Jones stumbles, then maybe they see what he has. I just don't t see a reason to bring in another olineman unless he isn't available or you get a clear cut stud at C or G.

In other news, Atlanta promoted Ryan Pace to VP of football operations and player personnel.

Braxton Jones lined up as the starter Aug 10 his rookie year as a 5th Rd pick and been there since. Amegadjia has not missed anything other than the physicality portion of camp and will start getting that work in soon. I didn't say he will start game one or at all, but he will push Jones. If he cannot be in that position in 3-4 weeks, then IR him and bring in another body. If you look at Dukes competition, he played Clemson, Notre Dame, UConn, North Carolina, Wake Forest, NC State, Louisville, Florida State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Virginia...so it's not like they play nobody. He has 3 weeks before kickoff, I would not be surprised if he is dressing game 3 or 4 and if Jones falters he could get some action.
