Cowboys might be wining and dining Deion Sanders as he was in Dallas tonight at the Mavericks game. You know Jerry sees marketing and a good up and coming coach in Sanders. That would clear a bidding partner for Johnson. I think our biggest bidder for Johnson is Detroit, especially if they get close but lose in the semis or superbowl. I'd still like to see the Bears bring Johnson in and court him like they did with Caleb to see if his heart would be open to coming here.
-
Give him some eye glasses and call him Andy Reid. My choice A, Ben Johnson may not leave Detroit and is unknown as a HC. McCarthy has been in the league for a long time and has coached Montana, Favre, Rodgers, and Zak to name a few. Either one i am cool with. One we might have growing pains and the other may only last 4-5 years. I'm okay with 4 or 5, because if Caleb is not top 5 and leading the Bears into playoffs by then it might be time to reconsider.
-
We have 1 season of Jayden Daniels and I think we can say he will be as advertised. As a rookie, he helped his team get to the playoffs and win the wildcard. Caleb has some huge steps to take to get on the same level imo. The Bears need to get him a high end HC and offensive mind first and maybe we can put them in the same conversation next year.
-
I have a feeling there will be 2 maybe 3 names after the combine worthy of our pick. The good thing without a top 5 prospect is the potential to move down. The Bears need all the tanks they can get to solidify the trenches. I would not be happy if they take a RB, WR, or DB before round 3. I'll live with a DT or DE, but if Caleb gets anywhere close to breaking the sack record again, I will have to find a new hobby.

Not that it is an excuse, but Banks suffered a left ankle injury that caused him to miss a game and was questionable to even play. The RT was also playing hurt. Scouts have to look at the whole package and not one game. If the refs called a hold in the end zone that last minute of the game, it could be a different view.

I do like Carroll. He has that energy that you can see players getting behind. I haven't seen enough from Vrabel, but the Score was bashing him enough were I kind of soured on him on how he lost the team. McCarthy would be my last choice, I believe he can get the offense going in a direction we need. As for Johnson, he is my top guy as of now but I can see Detroit losing a close game and he wants to return to finish what he started. If Johnson has a strong DC candidate that has handled calling top teams, it's a shoe in.

And there will be 8 people in the room while interviews takes place. Now days, you have to make every one feel included. I don't mind interviewing a large list, but get them out if the way before the real targets.

The Cowboys denied the Bears permission to interview McCarthy. I think he would be a top 5-6 candidate. So losing this opportunity hurts. https://www.nfl.com/news/cowboys-denied-bears-permission-to-interview-mike-mccarthy-for-head-coach-vacancy

And their new OC who has fallen out of favor with fans, Slowik. Slowik is going to interview for the Jets though.

I am a little intrigued with the big man Deone Walker DT. I want size and strength in the trenches and that is exactly what this guy is. He will command double teams, plug run lanes, and be disruptive. A Billings/Deone Walker next to Dexter/Pickens is a strong inside. Sweat, Booker, Demarcu Walker, Taylor and Dennis-Sutton rotating the end brings an edge that can contain or attack the QB. An oline with LT Banks, LG Trey Smith, C Shelton, D Jackson/Jenkins RG, Wright RT will rejuvenate an offense and become the stars of the town if they can find a scheme that fits them. RB Sampson is a lightning bolt (4.35), but will more than likely be gone rd 3. Majors another C to groom, and Mitchell Evans TE who may be a hidden gem since his QB was more Tim Tebow than Caleb.
-
I'll put some of this on caleb because I think he held the ball too long early in the games trying to be safe or get the sure thing. 4th quarters it was do or die and he threw the ball into tighter windows. Get him a oline and a RB with more punch and he will improve earlier in games.
-
Yes! With 4 picks in the top 70, we should be able to get a LOT, DE, DT, and G that are better or as good as anything we currently have. I know there are other positiin needs, but you do not win games until you can protect your QB and crush the opposing QB. This has slipped the Bears minds for 40 years. Keenan Allen said he is either staying here or going to L.A. If he can do a one year extension, I am fine screaming at him for drops another year. I want Caleb to build on what he has and keeping his core weapons another year will help. They need to add a RB, WR, and TE to compliment, but the key is better protection and coaching.

It was more in response to Phoenix, but I responded under your post and I understood your thinking. I had to correct my post too, as it made little sense since I rushed to hit send before I returned to work lol. I hate losing blue chip players without an answer. Teven does not deserve a long term top contract, but if he can be kept with a 2 year deal, then do it. No rookie will beat him, so he will be a starter. Where Poles screwed up, he should have drafted his replacement 2 years ago.
-
Yes, Jenkins missed time, but so has most of the other starters on the line. We do not have anyone to replace him with, unless we think Bates. Our pipe dream is to sign Trey Smith.... I think until the Bears can build a line and have quality depth, you cannot lose him unless he gets over paid.
-
We need an offensive line that knows their assignment and execute it 16 games in. We need a QB that understands 3 seconds and not stretch it to 5 or more seconds. We need WRs that know what the QB is thinking and can catch the damn ball. I don't care that we are down to 4th string players, they have been practicing all year and are still making preseason mistakes. One game left, the media is now saying they need to sit Caleb to protect him. It's too late to for that. No, they want to alienate him and destroy anything he has to hold on to. Let him finish the season whether he can play well or not.

Goodbye Watching NFL Playoff Games Without Paying For Them
ASHKUM BEAR replied to Lucky Luciano's topic in Bearstalk
I live out in the country, so dishnetwork is what I have. I already pay $115 for garbage. Once my contract is up, I am getting starlink and one of those fire sticks. Kids wonder why they cannot afford anything like their parents did. It's because we are paying a fortune for air...tv, Internet, cell phones. -

Looks like I am done being a fan. To all the people that bought in to these subscriptions, kiss my butt. I don't want to hear you complain about how much you pay for tv and internet. -
I think we ran our course through coach search discussions. It is A.) Ben Johnson and B.) Mike Vrable. Out of these two, can Johnson build a good enough staff to match his offensive mind. Can Vrabel bring an offensive mind to match his complete coaching expertise. I think this might be what it comes down to.

The Bears had the composition before on how to build a championship team and abandoned it. Warren needs a letter to remind him how a team can become a force. This draft they can add 4 pieces if they don't get cute. LT, DE, DT, and C/G are the assignment. The other pieces can be FA and later draft picks. 2026 draft repeat in the trenches so there is strong depth because injuries happen and games are won there. Once you have starters and depth, go cute one year taking RB, MLB, and TE like detroit did, they were in position to and it paid off.
-
And that is the major reason they have been bad since that time as well, beside having a great coach you have to draft those positions sucessfully. The Bears, instructed by the owners IMO, demand a safe player over a liability. Proof Shea McClellin over Chandler Jones. Looking at the 2012 draft, we signed many fa's from that class that we could have drafted. The guys we drafted besides WR A Jeffrey were nothings. The owners need to stay away and let the brass take the best player.
-
Like I said previously, when have the Bears drafted a good QB, LT, or DE. It has been since the 80s for 2 out of 3. If they nailed the QB, they could have been a dynasty.

One thing that hits my mind in Ben Johnson possible not being a leader of warriors is Vikings HC Kevin OConnell. OConnell reminds me of a man child, with his boyish looks. His voice isn't commanding either. But he has led the Vikings because he has a great offensive mind, teamed with Flores, they have a great combo. With this comparison, I think we can take a different angle when trying to judge Ben Johnson as a HC. Lastly, Nagy was never really a OC at KC. He was a QB coach who had the title and sat under Andy Reid. So to say we can't take another OC because of Nagy, I think is off as well. Merry Christmas

At least this has been upgraded to a broken ankle and a 4 month time frame. Regardless if he is healthy for next season or not, if there is a first round LT at their slot, they cannot pass him up. LT is a premium position, like QB, that until you have a top 10 talent, you keep fishing.
