    Acho Cut

I think it's possible Acho comes back on a one-year deal, or maybe I should say I don't think Pace would mind having him back on a 1yr vet minimum deal.
  2. Pace is trying to scoop up the best FA kickers he can find before the draft. Then he's going to bring in another one or two after the draft and let 'em battle it out. I hope it works.

    Acho Cut

https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-cutting-olb-sam-acho/ As expected and we gain 2.1mil in cap space.
  4. Yes it does, and that's why I think Isabella's going to go higher than initially expected. The Combine also boosted Tarik Cohen into a 4th Rd pick when everyone had him pegged later.

    Callahan

I've liked Callahan for years but I get the sense we (Pace) are accepting that we'll likely have to move on to other options. We just had one of the best defenses in the NFL and that always draws attention to your FAs. It's hard to think someone out there won't throw some good money at Callahan. Please don't throw out the option of Ty(also)rann Mathieu. Injuries have taken their toll and he's not what he used to be.
  6. With legit 4.3 speed I think he goes in the 3rd Rd, and maybe late 2nd. Remember the Rams traded up to draft Tayvon Austin in the first round, and Austin ran a 4.34 forty. IMO he's a little bit different from the smaller Tayvon Austin types who have a good forty time but it's largely because of their initial quickness and they don't have long speed. Austin is still fast, and is probably quicker in his cuts (see better 2yd shuttle time), but Isabella can fly. He'll need some scheme help to get open at times but that's nothing for a guy like Nagy or Belichick. He'd be perfectly fine in the Taylor Gabriel role in our offense. We have other needs so I'm not expecting us to draft him unless he falls into the 5th Rd. At that point anything is possible. ...and against Georgia he was able to get deep a couple time albeit likely against the 2nd string. I have no reason to think Georgia's backup defenders aren't talented athletes.
  7. Where does Andy Isabella end up? You can't help but think Belichick already has a plan in place to draft him.

    Draft RB

If we're not going after an RB1 I like Pollard more than Henderson. Henderson has a nice skillset and could handle more snaps but Pollard actually has the smoke that Mizzell falsely advertises. Pollard could backup the role Cohen plays in the offense and probably special teams, or he can backup Howard. If we were to lose Howard to Injury we can just bring up a guy like Nall to handle the tough yards.

    Draft RB

https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2019/2/28/18245085/chicago-bears-meeting-running-backs-nfl-combine-draft-bryce-love-benny-snell-miles-sanders-rumors The Bears have already met with four running backs that could be available in the mid to later rounds, and they are Stanford’s Bryce Love (per Mark Grote), Kentucky’s Benny Snell (per Mark Grote), Washington State’s James Williams (per Patrick Finley), and Penn State’s Miles Sanders (per Christian Shanafelt). Sanders said that he and Tarik Cohen would make an effective duo in Chicago.
  11. LMAO... Pace: "Kyle we need your help. We want to get a new kicker." Kyle: "Where do I sign?"

    Team builders

Kudos to Sam Summerville. That's a pretty prestigious award to win and the amount of detailed work it takes to be a good scout, much of which is on the road away from home, is tough to do.
  13. details https://twitter.com/fieldyates/status/1100741761083887616?s=21 As part of Kyle Long’s restructured, Chicago created $2.9M in cap space, per source. Long agreed to drop his base salary to $2.5M with bonuses/incentives bringing his cap hit to $5.6M for 2019
  14. I'm glad we got this done too. It was one of the contract changes I was hoping to see happen. We still don't know details but just converting some salary to guaranteed money will lower his cap hit. Biggs reported it as a pay cut so maybe there is a lower annual salary in there in exchange for the bigger guarantee. Next up should be Whitehair's extension. I was not in the camp of cutting Long. Maybe next year if he had another injury plagued season but this is his first offseason with no surgeries where he can get back to working on his craft. I think he's got a lot left in the tank.
  15. That's a bad sign for Robbie's negotiations. At least he's either getting a solid 1yr deal or they will give him some good guaranteed money if they come to an agreement.
  16. I really don't care what two adults decide to do on their own but I really detest the fact he was doing this through a place that was doing human trafficking. There is zero reason for him to have to engage with this kind of business. This stuff goes on all the time in Arizona and many other cities with a lot of immigration issues. SanFran, LA, Phoenix, Miami, NYC. The reality is most Americans just don't care and are happy to look the other way. People, regardless of what side (or sides) they are on, just read whatever "news" makes them feel better about what's going on. It is already the same with Kraft as most articles don't even mention the human trafficking issue. Compare that to what Kareem Hunt went through in just the first 24hrs after the video broke of him half-heartedly kicking a woman who had already hit him. If that little kick was enough to have people say Hunt should never play in the NFL again what do we do with Kraft who supports a business that enslaves foreign women as sex workers? https://www.businessinsider.com/robert-kraft-arrest-sex-trafficking-ring-bust-women-sex-against-will-2019-2 "Victims of alleged human-trafficking ring that ensnared Robert Kraft were forced to live in massage parlors and perform sex acts, according to police." "According to police, the victims averaged eight clients a day."

  18. Surprising news this is not. If he signs on elsewhere, and he likely will at some point, then the Bears will at least get some relief from the new contract offset. I expect that new contract for Parkey will be rather small but maybe we get another mil in cap space. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1099078342974885888

  20. Looks like the Bears have informed Sims he'll be cut soon. Nothing unexpected here. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/bears-reportedly-cut-sims-save-6-million-cap-space Aaron Leming is reporting that the Bears will get back $2.5mil in cap space due to offset language in Glennon's contract since he signed with Arizona. With these two combined we'll be seeing about $8.5mil in cap space coming our way. https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL/status/1098311237996240896?s=20
  21. I like it. I'm not a big fan of taking an OG in Rd 3 but based on his game against Ohio State he looks ok. Ideally Harry can get him to move laterally better but he has the vision and power you want. I don't think Hooker will be there in the 4th and I'd prefer to keep the names the same and take Hooker in the 3rd, BB in the 4th. It's quite possible BB will still be there. I hadn't seen Pollard at all but he fits and would be a great replacement for Mizzell. Just his first catch alone in this highlight film is enough. There are other highlight films of him more snaps at RB/KR. His versatility on all aspects (RB, KR, WR) is a great fit for the 3rd RB position.
  22. Things change quickly in the NFL world, especially when your team wins 12 games, and here's the first draft profile I've read where a player is compared against Tarik Cohen. https://thedraftnetwork.com/2019/01/08/2019-nfl-draft-player-profile-james-williams/ C.O.D./Agility – Elusive without being overly explosive on his feet. Much more James White in his ability to evade tacklers and pick up extra yards than he is Darren Sproles or Tarik Cohen. Light feet, but doesn’t possess the stop on a dime and make a cut at full speed ability that elite space players have.
  23. I'll pick this up after the combine when the draft boards start to be a bit more consistent.
  24. True and I didn't say I'm opposed to drafting an OG but it's just not my preference for the 3rd Rd pick. Safety, CB, or RB are still my expectations in this round. I think if he has a serious injury again Long very well could be gone or asked to take a big pay cut, which could lead to him being cut, but that doesn't stop us from drafting an OG in 2020 in the 2nd or 3rd Rd.
