    Jordan Howard

I think he needs just 61 yards. Minn will be going all out to shut him down early and force Barkley to throw (as would any of us).

    Trubisky

I still like Trubisky 1st with Kizer as my 2nd choice. Neither is ready to play as a rookie. It's pretty obvious Trubisky's coaches screwed up by not putting him as the starter a year earlier instead deferring to a senior. I won't fault Trubiskly for kicking the crap out of lesser competition as I wish a Bears QB would do that once in a while. Then he struggles against better competition that he hasn't seen much of? The question is can he learn from it. I think he can. The physical tools are all there. Kizer has the most physical talent and if a coach can get him to stop rushing his passes at times (where he seemingly doesn't step into his throws correctly), and learn to read a defense he'll have a very good career. The best thing for Kizer will be getting away from the mess that is Notre Dame football and Brian Kelly. He'll do just that as he prepares for the draft and I think he'll shine in workouts. After tonight, Watson just removed himself from my list. After his 3 seasons of experience he's still playing inconsistently and making bad reads which doesn't bode well for his NFL career. He's just good enough to tease as a #2/starter in the NFL, and will probably have a long career as a #2. I have a feeling some team, or owner, will be impressed with the 31-0 victory over OSU and that'll make him a 1st Rd selection. I prefer a mid-round chance on Mahomes.
  3. Not having a QB of the future on your roster after 3 offseasons can also get a GM fired.
  4. Our QB position is completely up in the air. If Cutler were just his normal self you could say we at least know what we have there but he's getting surgery on his throwing shoulder. Every team on that list except for one has stability at the QB position. I think the worst QB scenario of those 9 teams is Bortles. The exception on the QB list is Denver and they had the best defense a year ago. I think they are mis-reading the tea leaves on Denver myself as they seem to be destined to another year with mediocre QB play and a good (maybe not great) defense keeping them around .500. Figure in that Oakland is on the rise and KC is also a good team and they won't have an easy path to winning their division next year.
  5. As George Thorogood said I stand alone (ok, he said he drinks alone). We are either grabbing a QB this year, or next year. Either way it's going to expensive in terms of draft picks. Next year I don't anticipate we'll be picking in the top 10. We might as well trade back into the 1st and grab someone like Kizer if he's still there, or take Watson.

    Jordan Howard

I disagree with that somewhat because it seemed like Langford was getting a few more looks in the last game, 7 carries being the most he's had since week 2. I think they will likely do the same this week and if Howard gets the record why not give Langford more reps? We need to know more about Langford going into the offseason.
  7. I don't know that we can pass on Garrett but Allen is a bit different. I'd love to have Allen in the defensive front with Goldman and Hicks but he's not Ndamukong Suh who went #2 overall. Plus when it comes to evaluating Allen we have to consider that there's a ton of NFL talent playing with him. Alabama has 4 defensive players ranked in the top 18 of the draft, and another DT that's considered a top 25 pick in 2018.

    Draft Status

Few QB classes have a player that ranks #1 overall. Question marks have surrounded every 1st Rd QB in recent years with the one exception of Andrew Luck. This year Trubisky and Kizer are no different and there is zero reason for anyone to think NFL history will not repeat itself with both these QBs going top 10, if not top 5. 2016 Goff #1, Wentz #2 2015 Winston #1, Mariota #2 2014 Bortles #3 overall 2013 EJ Manuel went #16 ouch 2012 Andrew Luck #1, RGIII #2 2011 Cam Newton #1, Jake Locker #8, Gabbert #10 2010 Sam Bradford #1, Tebow #25 (yikes) 2009 Stafford #1, Mark Sanchez #5, Josh Freeman #17 2008 Matt Ryan #3

    Cousins

I don't think Loggains is going anywhere. Certainly there were some things that could have been done better but overall what he did with 3 different QBs and missing his top 3 WRs at times was decent. It is interesting when you compare some of his overall stats (yd/play) against Gase and Loggains ran the better offense. http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2016/12/2...raise-adam-gase "Chicago’s offense averaged 344.6 yards per game last year with Adam Gase calling plays and they averaged 5.4 yards per play on the 2015 season. This year under Loggains the O is at 351.6 yards per game and 5.9 yards per play. Until I actually looked those numbers up, I just assumed that Gase’s O would have been bigger."

It's time to shutdown Tracy Porter. He's fought through a bad knee most of the season. Give him a little veteran respect and let one of the young guys play.

    A positive

Jordan Howard is at 5.1 yds/rush for the season. He has 1178 totals yards.

Thanks for the analysis. I don't know these details that well. Picking 3rd would be great news after this miserable season.

    Late round CBs?

I like Awuzie too. He's good around the LOS but I'm not sure about his speed. Definitely worthy of a late round pick.

    Late round CBs?

How about Rasul Douglas from WVU? Listed as 4th Rd prospect but seems to have all the physical tools for the position. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/rasul-doug...-oklahoma-2016/

    Free Agent Options

Terrelle Pryor belongs in the FA WR discussion. It might be shocking how much money he'll get in FA after just one good season but his upside is undeniable. If Jeffrey sticks to his demands from last year and wants top 5 WR money I prefer to gamble on Pryor, who won't command nearly as much guaranteed money. That requires a leap of faith in White but I'm comfortable that he'll return to form and improve. Meredith should also continue to improve with another offseason. It seems clear Pryor can at least be a good #2 WR but if he continues to develop he might be a #1 in a couple seasons. If we lined up White, Pryor (both 4.3x forty WRs) on the outside, Meredith inside, and Miller/Brown we have a lot of speed and quickness coming at a defense. Pryor has already shown the ability to make highlight catches so I see no drop-off in red zone options. http://overthecap.com/2017-free-agency-ter...yor/#more-12819

    Bralon Addison

Looks like we'll see a new KR/PR this week. Maybe we'll see him at WR on a few plays as the Bears explore options for next season at slot WR. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...5f-e22d2b573b31 Roster moves: The Bears on Tuesday promoted rookie running back Bralon Addison from the practice squad to the active roster, officially placed receiver Eddie Royal on injured reserve and waived offensive lineman Cornelius Edison. Addison entered the NFL this year with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent from Oregon. He spent the offseason with Denver before being waived prior to the start of the regular season. College highlights
  18. When this comes out it's not a good sign. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/loud-cl...ry-sours-bears/ What do we do with Fuller this offseason? We need CBs so I'm not willing to just cut him loose. He has a career and another contract to work for so I'd certainly put him in the mix next year. Between now and then I'd definitely float his name out there to other teams this offseason.

    Team Needs

It's a need but I think if we had Goldman out there all year that would be less of an issue. Aside from Calais Campbell there is nothing of note in the 3-4 DE FA market. That means Campbell will likely command a salary far too high for Pace (I agree). Somewhere we will add someone to the mix, possibly a NT because they are easier to find later in the draft. Or we go after someone like Dontari Poe if he's available and move Goldman to DE.

    Team Needs

QB because it's unsettled and it's the most important position. CB is close 2nd but I can also go FS. Either way if we put a stud out there it makes the rest of the pieces much better. FS can cover up a CB who gets beat deep. Elite CB can negate the need for a FS to worry about one side of the field. Fangio & Co. will know how to setup either scenario.
  21. Allen, Goldman, Hicks makes our defensive front one of the best in the NFL even when we go into a 4-man front. Have to take him if he's there.
  22. http://draftbreakdown.com/browns-reportedl...nd-they-should/ Just something to keep in mind for the next few months of mock drafts

    Mock draft sites

You can shutdown any one player if you want to slide coverages his way. We have to see how they handle covering him. If they leave him one-on-one and shut him down that's more telling.
  24. And that should be the end of his time in Chicago. http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2016/12/1...freeman-returns With Jerrell Freeman back it will be great to see how Kwiatkoski plays. After showing some promise last year Timu has been a big liability out there these last few games. Pairing Kwiatkoski with Freeman should allow to even further assess how much he's improved.
  25. Trade up? Might have to get to #1 overall because Cleveland must do something after passing on Wentz last year. They could grab Garnett and then wait until the 9th overall pick for the QB but if they do, then the entire league knows they are taking a QB there. That makes it more likely someone trades ahead of them to take their target. They might take something below market to drop back a few spots if they equally rate the top 3 QBs. At #4 or 5 overall they are going to get a shot at one of those 3 QBs.
