  1. Whoever is upstairs telling Flus to challenge plays is bad. If Flus does not have somebody up there doing that he’s really bad.
  2. Here I thought you were not allowed to land with your body weight on top of a QB. Nor hit QB out of bounds. Nor throw punches.
  3. Because our rookie QB can handle that and changing the pre snap calls at the LOS. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that out of a rookie QB in just his second game and first game on the road.
  4. Weak link in pass protection. Just like last week run the stunt across the face of Davis right past Shelton.
  5. I do think some of what they are doing is going to give us a shot over the top of the D.
  6. We have a QB. I know it’s way early but this QB play is different. in other news we need an Oline to protect our franchise QB.

Sure they do but winning is winning and they just might stay with what is working until it's not.
  8. Yeah, I was expecting Allen to miss multiple games after we traded for him. One down I figure at least 3 or 4 to go.

  11. Nobody was giving a 1st for Rick Mirer either until someone did.
  12. I'm so old I remember when fans were wanting us to draft Skoronski. He got owned by multiple Dlineman worse than Shelton Coleman did.
  13. I'm not sure how much has changed. Plus I know nothing about these concepts and what options there are to choose from. Let's see what we get in Week 2.
  14. I think he’s a good fit for them too. In his first year in the system Tua had to learn to make the quick read. Things looked bad until he settled in and learned to take the easy play. Could Bagent run their offense like Purdy runs the 49ers? Both have arm strength limitations yet similar skillets otherwise.
  15. If the Dolphins call and offer a 2nd Rd pick for Bagent what’s your answer?

  17. Darnell Wright played well last week. I know Hunter had a bunch of sacks against us last year but that was also when Fields, Bagent, and Getty had no answer for their heavy blitz scheme. I look forward to seeing how Wright does in this game because he’s already seen Hunter and knows what to expect. After this game we’ll have a good idea how good our RT can be. Braxton might be more of a question mark but he also held his own last week in pass pro.
  18. I was looking over the Texans depth chart. I don’t know much at all there aren’t a lot of big names. Our Oline will go from trying to block TVondre Sweat and Simmons to Mario Edward’s and Foley Fatukasi. Their DEs are good with Hunter and Will Anderson. They seem to have a good DB group. On offense they have a good group of small quick WRs. Good Oline, RB Mixon, QB. More than the defense being challenged this will force our offense to score points if we want to win this game. Which leads to my next point…how will Caleb respond. After watching Chase Daniel’s film review I’m now very optimistic about Williams future. While he had his share of mistakes he was clearly reading the field well for most of the game. With just a couple tweaks he easily had two TD throws both being in the red zone where rookies notoriously struggle reading a compressed D. Shelton getting pancaked by a LB led to one tipped pass that prevented a TD. Coaches were right to keep him in the pocket and trust him to read the coverage. The Oline had issues but if we only fixed the huge mistakes by Shelton on a few plays that game looks much better for Williams. Our IOL weakness matches up better against the Texans DT lack of depth. We might see a calmer Williams in the pocket this week.
  19. I can say that for however poorly he played Caleb Williams was not: Will Levis incompetent. He wasn't Jayden Daniels either at 7/55yds but ran on 16 carries (I didn't watch anything at all of Wash). He also wasn't Mitch Trubisky or Justin Fields in their first starts. In other words, as bad as it was the game doesn't seem to be too big for him. The coaches largely left him in the pocket so we didn't have to do the usual roll outs to narrow down the reads for him to one side of the field. While there is tons of needed growth I don't think he's starting from the lower levels as much as we've seen in the past. I'm very curious to see how quickly he adapts after seeing the film.
  20. Wild game, great come from behind win. I mean that sincerely because with a rookie QB and a lot of hype coming into the game you don't know how they will respond to the early adversity. Good teams over come those hurdles and find a way to win and we did that. Almost nothing went right on offense. Caleb looked every bit like a rookie in his first game. Still his talent was evident, he just needs to settle down and let the game come to him, and play in rhythm with more quick passes. The rumor that Coleman Shelton is better than Lucas Patrick crashed and burned before halftime. As Bates gets healthy he'll take that job from him. Let's hope that is next week. Nobody will ever miss the 6th Rd pick we gave up for Darrell Taylor. The defensive front played well with highlight plays from players across the board, Dexter, Billings, Sweat, Taylor, Walker. There were some gaps of course but overall for a first game this is a very good start.
  21. I’ll celebrate that too. But then I love good defense and that’s not why he was drafted. Caleb has a lot to learn but there was no point in that game where I felt Levis was even close to him in talent. I’d trade the often injured Keenan Allen for a good center too.
  22. Tyler Scott inactive surprise for today. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bears/2024/09/08/bears-week-1-inactives-keenan-allen-montez-sweat-to-play-vs-titans/75132279007/
  23. T'Vondre Sweat will look really good in the first quarter. Then he fades in the 2nd quarter. Early in the 3rd quarter he shows some burst again and by the 4th quarter he's just standing around. I agree with running on the edges, get him tired early. For passing downs Simmons is the game wrecker and we should double team him and leave Sweat with a single block. He may get some pressure early in the game but he's not a problem for someone like Williams to move around or away from. Simmons is a much different problem if he gets free. Plus we need to keep a blocker free because I agree on the expected blitzes.
  24. I think the contract they gave to Love has set them up for that.
