  1. That's too broad of a brush...how many QBs has Shanahan ruined in SF?
  2. That's true from a team building perspective. It doesn't change the fact the QB can't read the field even when he has time.
  3. Seems about right and we've got to deal with Chris Jones coming straight up the middle. We have no answer for that.
  4. I wasn't able to watch most of the first half but had a better feed in the 2nd half. What I saw of Fields made me thing he's just not the QB we need. He looks lost on too many plays. There were moments in the 2nd half where he looked like the guy and then he'd follow that up with a Trubisky moment. Of course there are other pieces that need to be improved but I can't escape the fact Fields is holding back the offense from producing more.
  5. Family will always take care of family, in that I mean the team.

    Kyler Gordon on IR

With this it's not likely a displaced fracture and the surgery is likely just to put a plate and screws to secure it and help it heal. Should be high confidence on his return.
  7. I just watched his press conference and Flus looks mad and focused. With regard to Alan Williams.... if a player or coach has a family issue to deal with you almost always hear them say we wish him the best, or we look forward to him returning soon. There was not even a hint of that from Flus and that made me start wondering if we just fired our DC. To pile on that sentiment: A reporter asked Flus if the defense would look the same with him calling plays and he just said "we'll see" with a hint of a wry smile. Then further along he spoke of each of the defensive coaches and that they know what his expectations are and what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Still through all that chatter there was not another mention of Alan Williams (i.e. when he returns...). If the defense is going to look different with Flus running it then by default it means Williams wasn't running it the way Flus wanted it run. When Flus got the HC job it took him a bit of searching for a DC before he settled on Alan Williams. They had worked together for years so you'd think if Williams was his top guy then he would have been in the conversation for the DC job from the get go. OTOH, and IIRC, Getsy's name popped up fairly quickly among the OC search. All I know is this weekend's game just got a lot more interesting!
  8. I believe Janocko is also a big part of the run game planning. Considering how well that worked with Fields last year when we finally turned to it maybe he has a better feel for what we should be doing on offense than Getsy? Fields was still too mechanical in the pocket and he still needs to learn how to slide around. I'm thinking at this point that will never happen. He's such an elite athlete in his mind I feel he's thinking just hold, hold, then run and get outside the pocket. Maybe with a bit more consistent protection he'll relax a bit and let that come to him. After watching film he has to have a lot more confidence in Darnell Wright who even if he gets backup a bit can and will anchor.
  9. We’re going against Todd Bowles. Expect lots of blitzes and varied rush attacks. We need effort but also smart play.
  10. In theory we have the right LBs to make him pay for doing that.
  11. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/09/bears-place-cb-kyler-gordon-on-ir
  12. Sitting Davis and Claypool this week would be perfect. Send the message now.
  13. The more I've reflected on this game and watched the film study the more I believe this is true.
  14. I just finished watching it and we are horrible. Hard to believe we spent an entire offseason to put that together. The bright spot again: Roschon Johnson. I can only hope his leadership in the locker room is not a rumor because this offense badly needs someone to speak up and demand better of his teammates. Johnson put enough tape out there to prove he won't quit. I know now it won't be Justin Fields leading this offense.
  15. Yep, last years FA starting LB for us made the Eagles practice squad this year. Now he gets moved up to the active roster. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2023/09/eagles-lb-nakobe-dean-facing-multi-week-absence-team-to-sign-rashaan-evans-to-practice-squad
  16. Given that Jenkins will be back and we have Carter and Feeney waiting on the bench I'd be surprised if they signed another IOL.
  17. Yes he is. Gotta right that ship now...or never.
  18. For sure on that play he's lost. Not good at all.
  19. I watched the Manning cast with John McEnroe as guest for a bit. He's apparently a Jets fan and so for the youngsters...
  20. Davis is a huge miss. You pay a guy that kind of money and expect him to help lead your young rebuilding Oline. At least I expect that. If he played as he did last year that would have been light years better than what we saw.
  21. Never want to see players get injured but I have to admit I really like that loss of the 1st Rd pick.
  22. Most of us had the Bears pegged at 7 to 9 wins and almost nobody has us making the playoffs. We have 7 of 11 new starters on D, maybe 6 if you want to count Sanborn as a vet at SLB but he saw few snaps there last season. Behind them are more rookies and new players. Even good players like Edwards may have fallen into old habits (possibly) when he lined up with heavy outside leverage against Jones and gave up the TD. These guys didn't play together at all in the preseason and it showed big time. Other than pass rush issues I think the talent is there to correct the other stuff.
  23. I'm pretty sure he's out this week for sure after listening to Jaylon Johnson's press conference. Jaylon said he was confident in Blackwell starting although reporters had to back him into saying that.
  24. Swift showed that same play and a few others. He'll have a full review of all-22 out in the next day or two. The block Tonyan made (avoided) looks like what you get when someone is paid off to throw a game. So many other simple mistakes that could have changed the game, at least to make it more competitive. IMO we lost this game at the LOS with poor blocking and poor pass rush. Hopefully Swift gives us some insight on who did what in the trenches.
