Sorry but I'm not buying this argument that Anderson is the victim of bad coaching. I've seen Anderson out there on plenty of "passing downs". More to the point, how many posts have we gone through, Nfol included, where we gripe about the fact all our DE's ever do is rush wide outside? So if we blame coaches for this problem, and if that's the only thing Anderson has to do when he's on the field regardless of run or pass what is the problem? To quote the article: "Anderson hasn't made a sack this season, and it has been 22 games since he has had a full one." That isn't coaching that's a player not getting his job done. The same as we've been saying about Ogunleye and Brown.

In summary, I was right, you were wrong. Time to accept it. The evidence is mounting. Evidence is mounting? As in no returns for TDs? Or as in Devin crying about his blocking and Deion Sanders backing him up? Or as in Devin gets benched so we can watch Danieal Manning return a kickoff further upfield than any Devin had done in the same game with the same blockers?

Of course it's not all Hester but I have seen holes Hester has missed. There have been opportunities for cutbacks to the weakside of the play like he was doing last year. He has also misread lots of blocks and often runs right into a defender. The last two years Hester's trademark was moving laterally to open seams between defenders and then making a lightning quick cut upfield between them. He's running laterally sometimes but the quick cut upfield is no longer there. More typically he keeps running laterally until he goes out of bounds.

I'll be part of the minority but I'd actually like to see Wolfe get some carries during a game. I don't mind Jones getting a few carries as well but he is similar to Forte in that he's a big back and has less shiftiness than Forte. Wolfe on the other hand is something completely different with his quickness. Forte gets a lot of touches between runs and passes and we could sneak Wolfe in for 5-7 plays a game.

At this point I'm just hoping we can beat the Rams.

Burgess was not primarily a returner at ASU. He committed there to be a WR but when all their RB went down his sophomore season he spent most of the year filling in at RB. For his size he did a great job and showed a lot of toughness. I think he also split some time at RB his Junior season. Because of that his development at WR suffered. He's a shifty runner with good speed and plays with a lot of heart. Looking at players on our roster I'd consider him a shiftier version of Rashied Davis. I think he's a good pickup for the practice squad but I honestly don't expect much from him.

He's just another rich whiner these days along with Harris, Urlacher, and Vasher. I hope they keep DManning in on all KR this next game.

This team still has a chance to win the division. After ten games it's obvious the D has no heart and something needs to change. We can't change the players, and even next year we'll only be able to have a few changes at best. I'd be starting right now with Babich and let Lovie take over the D. Then find a new DC in the offseason.

The worst aspect of this is that the team should have been pumped up to play this game and they weren't. It was for first place in the division against out biggest rival. The lack of effort today makes it hard for me to think we'll win another game all year.

I felt Kevin Payne and Briggs were playing well and with emotion. Besides that the D was flat.

What indications do you have of our defense watching game film?

Hester does not have the same speed he had the last two seasons. I have no idea why but it's obvious even when he's playing WR, he just doesn't pull away from anyone.

I'll give Orton a pass as well. He didn't play well but he worked through the injury. The Bears looked as if they didn't game plan at all for the Packers. The offense moved the ball but it never amounted to any points. The D got owned by the Packers. I can't stand watching a Bears team with no defense, especially one with so many cry babies who wanted more money the last two offseasons. Of course Tommie Harris will tell us we don't know anything about football (except we know an arse-kicking when we see one) and Briggs will tell us he's on the best team in the NFL when they want to be. If Briggs is correct, then it's clear nobody on this defense wants to be the best team, much less even a good one.

I'll be happy when the D holds the Packers to a 3 and out. Of course that has nothing to do with Orton but with him coming back from this injury I do not want to put all the pressure on the offense to win this game. I'd much prefer to see Orton dropping back and handing the ball to Forte for 4 yards, over and over and over. Then the play action will be effective and that will help to give Kyle more time when we pass.

The way that ankle was taped up today doesn't make me feel that confident he'll be ready. Perhaps that's just the team being very cautious but if it has to be taped like that on Sunday I don't see him playing. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...22.photogallery

Stupid is as stupid does. Get bad field position and go three and out, then complain about having bad field position on the next possession? No leadership there. It's as bad a statement as Tommie Harris blaming 3 step drops for the lack of QB pressure. I didn't think it possible but Rex and Harris are making Briggs sound smart.

Given what I've seen of Vasher this season I'm not so sure he'd play at well at the nickel spot. One of his best assets was his quickness in changing direction and I don't see that this year. He had a really bad groin injury last year and maybe he isn't back to 100% for whatever reason. Maybe he never will be. Or maybe he just spent the offseason spending all that bonus money instead of working out. I really don't care for excuses but when WR break on their routes he's no longer staying with them and I'd be fine with Graham taking his spot.

He's being promoted because Mark Anderson has been MIA all season long. I have no idea what he did during the off-season to get ready for this year but it couldn't have been much. I've seen no signs of the quick burst he had his rookie year and does not have the strength to execute any other moves besides a head fake. I didn't see anything from Baldwin in the preseason to make me think he'll be any different but on the other hand we don't have anything to lose.

It's hard to look at Detroit's D and feel good about Marinelli coming here as our DC.

I just read two articles (one on the Trib one Sun Times) that are basically the same talking about how pathetic our pass D is. In one quote Vasher is saying giving up inside slants all day long is the scheme and everyone in the league knows it. Other quotes have Lovie and Babich both saying we're trying everything but there's only so much you can do. Tommie Harris chimes in that the pass rush is doing their job (they aren't). Alex Brown says "we're just not getting there" and he's right. The pass defense is a mess. Either it's scheme or players, or as I see it, both. Nobody seems to want any accountability and nobody wants to admit what needs to improve, or at least admit what must change. I know coaches don't have to single out players in the media but say something more than "we have players in the area we're just not making plays." JT O'Sullivan would still be starting in San Francisco if he played the Bears every week. While we attempt to sort out this mess the Packers are smiling as they do their film study.

Lloyd will be catching his TD from the bench. I agree Tenn is vulnerable to the passing game but only if we can hold up against their pass rush. Forte out of the backfield may be the key for keeping the sticks moving. Will Rex check it down to Forte?

I disagree on Hester. IMO one of his problems on KR is that he no longer stretches the coverage unit toward the width of the field and too often just heads straight up into the wedge. He was at his best moving to the outside and making a quick cut between defenders. In short, he's given up some of his creativity on returns.
