Just saw that. It's pretty surprising, not that he played that great, but they've either got someone else in mind or more likely we're going with at least one of the rookies.

I’m a little surprised to see Mario Edwards and Trevon Coley both cut. That’s less about losing them as much as I’m curious as to who earned a spot ahead of them.
-
No interest whatsoever.

I don't see that either, reply header for default is black text in gray background. Everything looks crisp and easy to read.

Kittle worries me more than Deebo but you don't want either running free downfield. If they are struggling with blocking that could neutralize some of the dual threat Deebo poses. We'll need early pressure on Lance to get his eyes down, or to keep him throwing short, but I'm not that high on our DTs.

Correct Jenkins didn't put it to rest but he also didn't say he wanted a trade. As I heard him, he basically said that is outside his control, he wasn't aware of anything ongoing, and he was just focused on earning the starting job at RG.

I appreciate anyone that takes the time to build those videos, it's a lot of work. It's the slow-mo that I like because of the ability to see how the blocking unfolds.

The media spends about 30s preparing for any Bears reports. Fields played great against Cleveland and yet there was nothing on NFL.com news section regarding the game. Plenty of other games got at least a brief mention. It clear in the broadcast of the Seattle game that they've just written this team off for the season.

In the post-game press conference Flus didn't seem concerned about any injuries. Sometimes a day later things are different for the worse but we won't likely know until Wed.

Oline issues continue for the 49ers and they are seeking trades to fix the interior. From the sound of it, all 3 interior spots and their backup RT aren't playing well. I'm not saying our rookies are any better than what SF has but if Poles is high on any of them this is something he'll have to consider in trying to get them to the practice squad. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/08/49ers-looking-into-o-line-trades

I'm curious to see the full complement of speed: Pringle, Jones, and Ebner. We got a small sample tonight of what happens when Fields gets time to throw. The Oline isn't good enough for that happen every week but I think they are good enough now to see that against some below average Dlines. Opening up against SF and then GB who both have good Dlines will tell us a lot. I think Patrick will provide a more stable performance at C than Mustipher but I'm not sure he's a big upgrade. At his lighter weight Mustipher is playing better this year. Both talents are closer to career backups than to starters but maybe Patrick will surprise us.

I have no idea how much input Fields has on receivers but I just watched his press conference where he said Pettis is one of the best route runners, if not the best, on the team. Of course we have injuries but Pettis has to be in the bubble discussion or he wouldn't have gotten as many reps with the starters.

Since we don't have a game thread I'll just use this one. First off, the stream that I found had some glitches so there were a few plays I missed especially the first series which I caught the end of and was a 3 and out. Also I had the feed from Cleveland. They had no clue on the Bears players and while they kept talking about how starters were out for Cleveland they had no clue which backups were in for the Bears. Which was their excuse for some of the poor play. Fields looked really good when he had time. He was finding players all over the field. There were some pressures and and it wasn't all good news but he avoided the big mistake. We know there are talent gaps on the roster but if this is a sign of things to come when we close the talent gap we're in good hands. Since I was stuck watching on the computer I couldn't really focus on the Oline play. Overall I felt their play was positive but there were missteps. Unfortunately we didn't get reps against their top DEs. Some of the play calling I really liked such as the delay screen to the RB on the right side. Maybe it wasn't even a screen pass per se just a delayed flat route by the RB but regardless it was well executed and the kind of play we haven't seen for years. WRs were ok but again Cleveland didn't have their top CBs in. Kmet is going to cause defenses problems this year. His TD while Fields was out of the pocket is a sign of trouble for DBs when Fields extends plays outside the pocket. On defense quite a few times we dropped a DT into a zone coverage and rushed 3. I'm not sure how often we'll see that but it was clearly something they wanted to practice. Kyler Gordon got a lot of snap, other starters much less. These coaches definitely believe in getting enough game action to get ready for the season.

I have to say between our two teams I expected this headline for Chicago. Oh, and look who has Oline issues... https://www.nfl.com/news/niners-qb-trey-lance-not-going-to-make-too-big-of-a-deal-of-ugly-preseason-outin

I don't really worry about people feeling the need to call him a #1 WR. Fact is he's a proven 1000 yard receiver. I'd like to see his targets go down and catch% go up. He is not the biggest WR so we need to keep him healthy. The real issue is that nobody knows if we have anyone else capable of being a WR2. There's plenty of 3's, 4's, and 5s on the roster will anyone step up? I like what Adam said about Montgomery's targets increasing but I also think that extends to Ebner. His talent as a receiver will offset some of the production gap from the WRs. All things combined it's hard to see us getting 300 receiving yards in any game unless there is at least one big play, a very big play.

All I said was Jenkins as a RG has at least as much versatility as Schofield to kick out to OT if needed, and probably more because no matter where he is, he is a better run blocker than Schofield. That doesn't mean he's even the swing OT. If Schofield's best asset is as backup RG, 4th OT (RT), is that needed as much with Jenkins? We have starters in Jones, Borom, and backup Reiff. Schofield or Jenkins is the 4th OT. If we keep both we have 4th/5th options. It's hard to see how one of Carter or Zach Thomas are kept on the 53 when they can only play one spot. Unless we keep 9 Oline.
-
No to the rookies or you don't think we'd ever put Jenkins at RT if injuries caused us to have someone from game-day active roster finish out a a game? Or do you just like Schofield at OT that much? I haven't seen him play there but some of his struggles inside haven't given me a good feeling about seeing him on the outside.
-
He looks like he is in a much better place mentally vs. two weeks ago. Yet still focused on what he wants to get done. It's nice to see his sense of humor coming through.
-
Jenkins has more position versatility as LT/RT, and probably better performance than Schofield. I still give Schofield the edge to make the roster over the rookies but I think there is a small window of opportunity this weekend for the rookies to change that.

Sanborn gets the Baldy treatment...
-
Based on what I've seen of Herbert's poor pass protection I think Ebner is trending to take over his spot as the #2 RB. The season might not start that way but as Ebner gains experience against different defensive fronts/rush schemes and his blocking assignments I think he get more snaps. Ebner is also a much better receiver.

There are some interesting points in this article including why Gordon is likely to be our slot CB. Not to mention Velus was again held out of practice. https://www.si.com/nfl/bears/news/bears-running-back-shortage-causing-problems
