  1. I'll take a crack: Feels like 7-9 at this point. Before today I would have thought 10-6. Based on today alone, 4-12. We need the next 3 games to get on track. 1-2 or 0-3 and this will get ugly. 2-1 and faint hope for a wild card. 3-0... not holding by breath.
  2. Yes, I thought the same thing, and came here to post that. Glad to see someone else was on the same page, and beat me to it. Cutler is reminiscent of McMahon in many ways - his swagger, and the heart that he displayed on that play. Also, he can be aloof with the media. Injury risk, yes, but some times as a qb you need to forget about that and win your team over with your heart. And set the tone as a leader that that is how the team is expected to play. Just go for 6. Love it. But that said I do hope Cutler holds up over his career more than McMahon did. I don't want a replay of Flutie in 1986.
  3. Well, we took what the Steelers gave us. It's not surprising that they shut down the run - they gave up 3.3 yds/carry last year, tied for league best. And they held Tennessee's formidable attack with Chris Johnson and Lendale White to 3.4/carry last week. Still, our running game's complete ineptitude was disappointing. And Cedric, of all people, ran well against Green Bay one week after GB shut Forte down. Looking ahead, Seattle gave up over 200 yards to Frank Gore this week. Based on that, I'm sure they'll be focusing on run defense this week. But if we can't run once again against Seattle, then that would be cause for serious concern. So I agree - Forte needs to get back on track this week.
  4. No. Sounds too much like McNown. Your subject line alone was enough to send a chill down my spine. Does that make any logical sense whatsoever? I guess not. Oh well.
  5. okay... second post in a row from the newbie here. Interesting that Vikings Super Bowl odds went from 25-1 to 12-1. I guess Vegas disagrees with my last post, or more likely just figures there are enough people who like the Vikes now with Favre to take the shorter odds. And the "experts" on the world wide leader are proclaiming that the Vikes are the team to beat in the NFC. Also after seeing his presser he did come off level-headed. for today at least. October 5 monday night against the Packers will be a circus. I still see crash and burn in December for the Vikes. Maybe early January.
  6. We see the retiring with news conferences, unretiring, and acting like a self-important prima donna as acting like a drama queen. I guess it's just a matter of what you consider to be drama, or how you define it. The question you raise I agree is the more important one. He gives them a better chance to beat the Bears than Jackson or Rosenfels, but for some reason I think the whole comeback thing is pretty funny. Should be entertaining to see how it plays out. I highly doubt it will pay off for the Vikes in the end (playoffs), so I guess overall it's a wash from our perspective: Vikes are a bit more dangerous against us (at least on Nov 29) but will crash and burn in the end.
  7. I agree, though I'm not even hearing the hint to Hester (that could certainly be most clearly expressed directly to Hester - no need for any hint - just say it, with tact). Seems pretty clear that Cutler was acknowledging that he threw to the wrong spot for Hester. The decision to throw to Hester in the first place would have terrible in a real game (Wolfe was open underneath). But now is the time to try things, and learn. So he tried putting one up there for Hester to go and get, and learned from it. Good. That's what game 1 of the preseason is for.
