  1. 'TD'

    Clausen

In an unbiased environment I think he could challenge Cutler now. The fact he lead Fox to a 1-15 season and Cutler's contract leads me to think he won't have a chance to.
  2. I don't really agree with the brass. But it's hard to deny that given the current numbers for WR's, Marshall is a steal at cap number vs. production alone ignoring the rest.
  3. I'd take him for 7 all day over 5 mill a year for Royal. Jets really look like they got a steal for Marshall considering his cap numbers.
  4. True, I just haven't heard them mention the position yet in their press conferences. I only caught half of this one, I missed the VIOLENT McPhee, but it didn't seem like they were saying much. They didn't want to address individual players.
  5. Do the Bears have a DE? Fox has called Young, Houston, Allen, and McPhee OLB's until they get on the grass.
  6. Lol, you wanted more comments on the thread. I'm just leery on the move. It's something I can't get excited for or get mad about until I see him on the field. There are a lot of other ways I'd preferred to have seen the money used.
  7. It's a move that I don't like, but hope it turns out so I avoided the thread. IMHO, it seems like a whole lot of money for a part time player that sounds more like a pass rushing specialist and the move could be a big mistake. It also may be a genius signing, if he is able to carry over his effectiveness to a full time role with a lot less talent surrounding him. Talent that leaves Baltimore is rarely as effective on their new teams. It almost feels like an Emery outsmarting the NFL move.
  8. Johnson will be 34 this year, big difference from 31.
  9. The Bears GM came from a team that is horrible cap wise and blowing up their team. Scary
  10. I'm still hoping he gets cut by Friday, Royal isn't officially signed, so doesn't count as catering yet to me.
  11. Cutler could just be cut if Brees is acquired in 2 days. The money for 2016 doesn't kick in til the 13th, and Cutler's offset clause would likely lower most of his cap hit.
  12. In a heart beat, 2 or 3 years of good QB play on Sundays would be great to me. As long as the Bears didn't have to give up too much, I'd like to see Pace get his man crush here. The Bears QB of the future could learn so much spending a year or two with Brees.
  13. Now him to the Bears is being reported not true
  14. The first 4 games of the year he will have like 6 TD's, then never hear from him again.
  15. It's just more reason to not like the trade.
  16. What's not fair? He took your "dumpster fire" years, and said Cutler is 27-13 when the D is good. All I did was point out the record from the rest of Cutler's career, when he claims the D's weren't good. He made the comment of Cutler's record when the D is "good" right after saying that a game manager can only win with a good D. By his logic, the same holds true of Cutler. I think that's fair. And I don't want to get into 9 years of excuses about Cutler with you. It's pointless. Right now, we just to see if Pace stands pat or moves on. It's decision time.
  17. You just said you needed a great D to win with a game manager. Then you say when he had a good D he won. That confuses me. So basically, you take the 3 years that he had a winning record. You ignore the other 6 years, and blame it on bad D's. Then say, hey look he has a good winning percentage with good D's. That is like me saying Cutler is only 34-45, and well below .500 when he doesn't have an elite D around him. Which of course, lead to 1 playoff appearance and win, and winning 1 of 11 games against the Packers. Which again, shouldn't matter, as you just said a game manager can't win without an elite D because apparently he can't either. Edit: had to fix the numbers, didn't give him credit for enough losses the first time I posted
  18. Neither do turn overs, even if you have an elite D. Trust me, I want a great QB. My post was replying to the idea that the Cutler "haters" and negative Nancy's will never be satisfied unless the next QB is Elway which is silly. The Bears tried a "gun-slinger", aka turn over prone, QB for 6 years. Personally, I don't have to go back and remember the QB's of the past and how poor they are. I seen this turd play and he fits on that list too, even if he is a floater and raises above the rest. Give me a game manager, until they can find the answer and I won't be negative about the QB at all.
  19. Being someone that is not a fan of Cutler's play on the field, I have to say that you just don't get it. In the great Orton/Grossman debates, I was solidly on the Orton side and more than happy with his play and potential at the time. I would love to have someone the quality of Aaron Rodgers on the Bears, but that's not my expectation. I personally would be content with an Alex Smith type of play. I just want a QB that plays smart and doesn't turn the ball over. If they draft a rookie or goes through other means doesn't matter to me. I'll be content with whatever they field this year, as long as they don't overpay/over commit to a turn over prone bad QB. Of course I'd like a top QB, but if we can't find a future one, find one to take care of the ball. Cutler's been at the top of the league in turn overs twice in his 6 years with the Bears. For now, I'll just be happy with a QB that isn't a contender to lead the league in TO's.
  20. How about throwing Greg Hardy in there somewhere?
  21. It's like the team has made it a priority. It started prior to the new regime, as there were few leaks about the GM interview process.
  22. Hope there are some good positive leaks for the Bears over the next few days.
