I was kinda disappointed to not see Jack Del Rio brought on the list considering they scheduled and interviewed Gase. He has been on the top of my list since early. I'd also like to see Toub, Ryan, McDaniels and Marinelli are a few of the others I'd like seen brought in eventually.

I didn't see the point in arguing each video and INT. If you were making a logical argument that maybe 5 turn overs wasn't his fault, and that mattered, then I would taken your argument more seriously. However, you are dismissing two third's of Cutler's turnovers (16 of 24 turnovers). You completely ignored the 6 fumbles, placing the blame on 5 int's on the receivers, and 5 on "garbage time". That's such a reach, what's a point in addressing each one? I looked at some of the links, and saw them when they happened. The Buffalo one, it wasn't just a bad communication. it was a bad decision. I think it was Greg Cosell that had an in depth breakdown of why it was a throw that shouldn't even happened. Graham came out after the game saying he knew he just had to watch Cutler's eyes. Garbage time INt's aren't always irrelevant, imho. The Patriot's one, yes that is one that really doesn't matter. You placed the Cowboy's one in the same grouping. It's first down, 1:30 in the game, and he just made a bad play. If we are going to dismiss the Cowboys ones, then we have to dismiss TD's in the same situation, and it all get's convoluted. The main problem with the Bears is the drafting. Angelo drafted poorly, and left the team with little talent on both sides of the ball. Emery made some nice additions through free agency, but also drafted poorly and left the team with bad contracts. The next biggest problem with the team is the coaching. Both of those problems are being addressed at this moment. Looking at the roster, Cutler is the biggest problem imho. No one position effects a team more than QB. It's also the hardest position to fill. The biggest lack of talent on the team is safety. If you replace Chris Conte with Earl Thomas, it's not going to be as big of a difference as replacing Cutler with Russell Wilson that is in the 10-15 range ppl are claiming Cutler is in.

And if elephants flew, we could get rich off of steel umbrellas... If we dismiss 7 of Cutler's INT's and 6 fumbles, his stats would look nice. Brilliant. Ooo... How about if we ignore his poor mechanics, inability to work through progressions, inability to read a defense or audible, poor decision making, dependence on tall wall WR's that can out jump their defenders, staring down WR's, and anything else negative, then we add in some leadership skills, then he'll be an awesome QB.

Stats in general are flawed when comparing today to years ago. Today's rules have been tweaked to favor the QB, WR's, and higher scoring games. In general, a top QB rating in comparison to other QBs in their era generally mean you played well. A poor QB rating usually means a QB played poorly. It's in the middle where it can get murky. Romo is not the 2nd best QB all time or even right now based on his career quarterback rating, but Romo is a very good QB. I'd put him in the pack right behind the 4 truly elite QB's. He's in the mix with Rivers, Luck, Ryan, and Roethlisberger. Their running game didn't make him a top QB, he already was.

Dallas is bad comparison. Having the second best running game is going to help any team. You can't just will the second best running game. They have one of the best offensive lines in the league. They have a very hard running back that can take the punishment they are giving out. To achieve that on the Bears, you would need to dedicate resources to bringing in 3 or 4 new offensive linemen to upgrade from above average to great, and new running back. The fact that Dallas has the second highest rated QB of all time doesn't hurt. I'm not talking this year, Romo is the second highest rated QB all time. The great running game and decent defense has just amplified a very good QB, not covered up a very flawed one. It's not a deep seeded hatred for Cutler. It's just being set in reality. It's not the blind faith that you have. In the games Cutler has won, he has a QB rating comparable to Romo's average. In the games he has lost, he has a 70 QB rating. With Cutler, basically half the games you are getting a competent QB, and half you get a QB you can't win with. It's not hatred to observe a QB that has trouble reading defenses, making progressions, bad footwork and poor mechanics overall, and on and so on with Cutler. It's just the desire to avoid wasting 2 more years on a QB that has proven to not be the answer.

I thought you were the one screwing Jay, there's no other reason for you to want to keep him around.

I look at it more like a girl in a drunk or abusive relationship. The girl hopes the guy will change one day, makes excuses for him. She can fear the change, how hard it will to find someone new, taking on the bills, but in the end only a clean break will do. It's a doomed relationship, and the guy just is who he is.

His records are due to longevity and the era he is playing in. How has the Bears franchise been since he took over? The Bears have been in the playoffs once and won 1 out of 11 games against their biggest rival. His 6 years has been a dark era. The Bears won't produce better than that, until they unhitch their wagon from Cutler. If the Bears stuck with Kordell Stewart for 6 years, he'd hold all the records too. He'd still be a bad QB.
-
Unlike the past 6 years, where the QB lead the league in turnovers twice?
-
I still can't believe some of you are holding on to thinking Cutler can be a good QB.
-
That's really an unimpressive list. They basically took the OC's and DC's from the good teams this year, and threw in some legacy candidates in Shula and Lombardi. Then they have 2 position coaches for no apparent reason. One has never been higher than a position coach and the other was an unimpressive head coach just a year ago. I like Autin, and maybe another guy or 2 on the list, but anyone here could come up with a very similar list with very little knowledge. Any of us would likely be some better candidates than some listed.
-
The fact they aren't scheduling people like Rex Ryan, I think it's exactly this. They are just putting their name in for coaches they can't hire yet anyways, that a potential GM would want to interview anyways.

I'm hoping the Bears get McCorty in the FA, and you can change that 2nd round pick to a much needed LB. Jones can maybe a starter, but I'm not sold on the rest of the crew. They need a special line backer.

Heard the Bears at least expressed interest in Decosta
'TD' replied to Chitownhustla's topic in Bearstalk
Three big differences this time. -The Bears aren't demanding that DeCosta keep Lovie Smith for a year -DeCosta can move on from Cutler if he wants -George said they would restructure for the right candidate Roster wise, I think the team is a little better than where Angelo left it too. I'm not saying he will take the job, but all of that has to be more appealing to him. -
If a QB doesn't emerge worthy of our pick, then you need the biggest impact defensive player. Allen may be gone after this year, and Ratliff is getting so every position is fair game to me. The Bears need to think of the future, not building a team for this year.
-
Agreed, plus with his coaching title, it sounds like his job is similar to what Kromer's was under Trestman. I honestly know little of the Seahawks, just an observation.
-
I'd rather Viginia to sext Rex with feet pics, to seduce him in for the job.
-
I don't see why Peyton Manning's OC is in demand, as Peyton Manning is his own OC.
-
Bernstein and Hub have had it out for him for a while. They even go as far as to blame his attitude, a highly productive WR, for his teams never going to the playoffs. I am far from a fan of Brandon Marshall the person, but I also think the Marshall cancer thing is something the media has ran with for no reason. He's a top player at his position, has passion for the game, and tied up until like 2018.

Where's the the Ravens' Head Equipment manager? They should be jealous of the Bears.

http://chicago.suntimes.com/bears-football...an-great-leader That's just a small part of the article. I just found it funny, as it came from the Bears new GM consultant. He was a QB coach for Accorsi back in the day
-
Those were the canidates for the Panthers Accorsi brought in, including a guy from the Montreal Alouettes.
-
I just posted the players drafted for reference, as I hate the idea of Ballard. I just want the best for the Bears. The thought of a guy that worked for the 2 biggest problems of the Bears in the last 15 years just gives me sick.

Below are the 1-4th round defensive picks from Angelo's last 5 years. A couple of those firsts were gone because of the Cutler trade and a second missing from the Gaines Adams trade and so on. 2011 2nd Paea 3rd Conte 2010 3rd Major Wright 4th Corey Wootten 2009 3rd Jarron Gilbert 4th Henry Melton 4th DJ Moore 2008 3rd Marcus Harrison 4th Craig Steltz 2007 2nd Dan Bauzin 3rd Michael Okwo Edit: Melton and Wootten are starter quality, but nothing special. Those 5 years should be the veteran strength of our team right now.

Why is there no defensive talent now? No, I wouldn't say there was good defensive drafting during the Angelo era. There is not defensive talent left on the Bears now drafted in the Angelo era other than Paea. His era was just 3 years ago.
