Nope. It'd tie Cutler back to the team 2 more years, he sucked in Washington and his son and coaching tree hasn't been good lately. Teryl Austin is still my main head coach canidate
-
Locker is a free agent and can be brought in on his own.
-
How about Teryl Austin as a potential HC? His first year with the Lions and the D has lived up to and past it's potential this year. It's his first year as a DC, but the change is massive.Caldwell is an offensive coach, so hard to credit him for the change in the team.

Last week was my week I wanted them to lose most. Draft position plus I was going against Jeffery and Forte in a close semi final match in my main fantasy football league. Ended up winning by 10 points to make it to the championship.
-
I wouldn't want him as a starter based off one game, but he did many things right that Cutler does wrong. I'd want him over Cutler. I'd be fine if him starting, if a drafted rookie wasn't ready. If Cutler comes back next year, he will be here the next 2. 10 Million dollars becomes guaranteed of the 2016 year, if he is still on the team the third day of the new NFL year in March. Personally, I think next year will be some what of a building year. There are just too many pieces that need filled on defense, and a few on offense to be competing for the Super Bowl. I really don't care who starts next year, as long as it isn't Cutler and his replacement is drafted this year.
-
A tie counts as a half a win, so they would be behind us.
-
Their strength of schedule is weaker at this point, they would get the better pick.
-
Clausen is ready to fight with no helmet, got to love it
-
I'm not saying Clausen is the QB of the future, but I'd take a lower draft pick if that means we are seeing that emerging. He's looking damn good today.
-
I'm not sure Allen will. I really like him, but I think the Bears save almost 12 million this year if they cut him.
-
I really like Trestman. He was dealt a bad hand with Emery. But if the fact Trestman goes means that Emery goes, then I am all for it.
-
At the very least, Clausen is earning a roster spot next year in this game. McCown excelled because of the system, but his throws weren't always pretty. Clausen is looking good on his decision making and throws, and not it's just because of the system.
-
I wrote that as the first play of that drive you reference was happening, and it was in reply to you replaying on me saying he looked good in the first quarter. Who cares. The game has at least been watchable so far. The D has been making plays. Offense has been bad, but at least Clausen hasn't played like his rookie year.
-
And my comment on him was talking about the first quarter. Your point?
-
I'm talking about a guy that hasn't played in 3 years. All the talk is he will be horrible this game. I'm saying he is looking pretty good in comparison to what we would expect. Have you seen a bad pass, mechanics, or decision made so far? That's when I say Cutler is shit.
-
He looks pretty darn good through the first quarter. Good zip on the ball, going through the progressions, nice little run, and he's been pretty accurate so far.
-
I'm excited to see what the kid has. Sometimes it takes a few years for a QB to develop, maybe after a few years on the bench he evolved. I just hope he doesn't get hurt with Ola, Groy, and Garza in the middle.

Hub Arkush: Could Mike Holmgren be on Chicago Bears' list?
'TD' replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
I didn't know that, hell buy him a 6 pack and hire him to run the drafts lol. http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id...yed-living-farm Here is a pretty awesome story about him now. It covers him now. his past struggles, and the guys ability of finding talented players. Here is part of his review on Russell Wilson. -
The Bears can eat money if they want to trade him. The Bears can convert his salary into bonus money and just give him like 6.5 million dollars right now. That would take his cap number for the first year for the new team to only be 9 million. If the Bears are willing to eat a little more money, it make the trade more friendly for potential suitors.

With out a doubt on Polian, that would be my dream hire as president. No on Wolf. He is a on the wrong side of 75 and been out of the league for a long time. I'd like to see a president with more recent experience and prior knowledge, having worked with or knowing potential candidates for GM. -

I'm not sure he can find the guy. He didn't in Cleveland. I'm not sure how well he knows the current staffs in the NFL as he's been away from football for a few years and success much longer. I'd like to see someone like Scot McCloughan brought in as the GM. He was the GM of the 49ers from 2005-2009, and then senior personnel executive in Seattle from 2010 to 2014. I know he drafted Alex Smith his first year, but he also built a lot of the base they have had success with the last few years, and Seattle speaks for itself. -

Holmgren had his President and GM title removed when he was coach at Seattle and Cleveland was a failure. I'd prefer not to see him in either roll with the Bears. Considering he is 66 and hasn't coached since 2008, I wouldn't want him as a coach either. -
It was his fault for his movement in the pocket and not getting rid of the ball. Gruden was saying that Cutler needs to be more clear and enunciate more with his snap count. The had a stat with the ridiculous amount of false starts on Cutler lead teams to back up the fact. He just got benched while having the most turnovers in the league. How is he in Andy Dalton territory? No, just no. McCown had nothing similar in Tampa. Their running backs and offensive line have been flat out horrible this year and no wear near the caliber of Forte or the Bears line. He succeeded in a system that was in exact what to do in a given situation. He was able to do that and succeed due to that and the talent around him. He wasn't trending down. His last game he started, the Bears never punted as they blew out the Cowboys. Going public with Kromer wasn't discipline? That will follow him through out his career, and Kromer didn't even say anything bad. Cutler is a grown man, how is Trestman supposed to get into his head? Cutler was given a 120 million dollar contract. That said you are the QB now and in the future. What does a young Favre have to do with a 31 year old Cutler? Trestman is getting fired for an under performing offense led by Cutler. Cutler who was reportedly doing his own thing for a while. His showing up against the Saints and not giving a crap is what probably tipped the boat for Trestman. If he's going out, he's going out showing what could have been in his system. Will it work? Who knows, but atleast it will be his system ran his way. He may work through his progressions and not stare a WR down. He may audible correctly given a situation. He may not hold the ball down where it can be knocked out of his hands. He may actually run the system instead of pick and stick, and so on.. Clausen may suck Sunday, but he will be more likely to suck running the system right. Cutler has been to the play offs once in his career. He's beat the Packers once in ten or 11 games now. You can't win with him. When one of his flaws include leading the league in turn overs, you can't win with him. The Merry Go Round was only stopped recently, because we were busy on the Jay Cutler roller coaster the last few years. It needs started back up, but Holmgren isn't the guy to start that ride. He hasn't been linked to a good QB in over 20 years, and was a failure at the same job with the browns a few years ago. Finding the right QB may be a crap shoot, but if you don't start taking shots, then you are left with crap.

I think this move had to come from the owners. There is no way Trestman has the pull to sit the highest paid player in the NFL. They've already let it leak that they are going to fire them. He probably never had the power to sit him. Emery wouldn't tell Trestman to do it, because it puts him in a very bad spot with his job on the line. This had to come from ownership.
