Pace is an idiot, i mean he is from the Saints' organization and we see how well they are at finding talent. I'd rather bet on a LT realizing his idiocracy then doing what the Bears did to a position they are are at least 3 deep going in.
-
Personally, hate it. It's arguably the Bears most talented position. Edit:Spent my time tonight watching politics and didn't realize the draft was tonight. I was thinking it was May 2nd for some reason. I'm out as a fan until there is a new regime. I may stop by and give a comment from here and there to support the board and community. I'm done as a super fan like others here until they get a competent GM. He's made too many mess ups in my personal opinion in his trades, and 2 fourths to get a position of strength with so many weaknesses while having so many needs is too much for me. I hope there are people that get drafted that you can be excited about. Way too many trade mess ups for me with a horrible resume with this GM. Spent too long with the last horrible GMs.

This is an argument I always hated. Last year I was making a huge argument for Marcus Mariotta that could have fell. He was someone I really bought into, and I think he will have a great future if the Titans can some how find away to change the culture of losing and draft better. I heard all of these arguments of all these great QB's that were going to be better there this year. I asked where they were, and ppl were like well... you know.... not really there. Instead Tennessee unexpectedly stuck with a pick, and we got a fast WR with a shattered leg that we hope can recover from it. You can't plan your draft on next years draft. Talent doesn't turn out, you have unexpected turnover on your team and people can't replicate their previous success each year. To break off that point I wanted to make, and to address the thread in general. In the first round, I think you look at the players there. How much they can improve your team over what you have, and go with it. We will value prospects, current players, and the value of the position differently. That's why you can't expect fans of a team that benefited from Forte for many years to hold a low value on the position, expect more from a rookie that struggled at time to achieve near that level(I know the Oline changed a lot), and maybe see more talent in someone than others do. A 10 year LT sounds amazing when you say it. However, people may not see Stanley as that guy and you can draft on hope. In actuality, they both likely won't be there when the Bears draft.

First thing I thought was with all their success, they weren't drafting early often. I wonder what it would be with the Bills and Panthers thrown in. My memory is too rusty to judge all the picks from back then.

5yrs 75 mil 50 guaranteed to the Redskins

The opposite can be said, but we have had the benefit of Forte, while seeing AP dominate every year, and teams like the Packers and Lions struggle to find a RB. We've been lucky to see the best and worst, and that's a reason I don't undervalue a top RB prospect. We've been lucky enough to be able to lean on Forte when everything else was wrong on the offense and they are heading into uncharted territory with a run heavy offense presently. I'm from Ohio, so I have bias, and why I haven't really commented on Zeke, but I think there is enough prevailing reasons to be positive if he was picked. I may be a little ignorant on the 3-4 still but I like Houston, McPhee, and Young to get pressure. I'm way more worried about the coverage from he secondary. Edit: one thing on the bolded part, I do think Stanley's ceiling is over Leno's. What I meant to say is that the potential ceiling over Leno isn't as high as the ceiling of Zeke over Langford from what we know.

I would argue he is likely over a 50/50 because some players just transcend. But let's say it is 50/50 for every position. Let's say DL and LB is out, as the upgrade over the current players vs the current talent available isn't that great necessarily, especially when you add in the 50/50. We end up with a possible T, RB, or DB dropping. We don't know necessarily where Leno will go, but he wasn't bad last year. Langford is someone that I like his running style, but he wasn't great last year and the Bears just lost one of the top runningbacks in the game. Add to that, the Bears offense now flows through the position. All the DB's are bad and any upgrade will be better. That leaves potential and floors of a draft pick vs the floors of current talent in this system. For me, Stanley's floor is a bust. His potential doesn't reach as high(if he even falls) over Leno, as Zekes potential over Langford. Top prospects at RB can excel despite an average LT, even tho top talent rarely arrives at the positoin. Zeke's floor is higher than a bust imho and a better prospect than Stanley imho because Stanley is a guy projected due to his measurables. I'm hoping for a DB to fall, but I would be happy if the Bears some how got Zeke, and I wouldn't be against the OL options considering where the Bears are picking.. The likely picks that would annoy me the most is DT, i think that's just ridiculous given what is on the team, LB or DE because I think the upgrade ceiling really won't be higher than the talent on the team. Edit: I'm just hoping that Zeke, a DB, or Stanley falls even if I am not high on him.

The only current RB that was as much of a sure-fire hit as him was Peterson. At the time, Peterson even had injury concerns, which makes Zeke pretty much a good pick by anyone that picks him at any slot.
-
I'd rather have him than any of the defensive players that could drop, other than the DBs. I'm also not overwhelmed by the tackles that could be available. I just don't think he will be there, but if he is.. When you see Adrian Peterson available, you draft him. If you see Zeke available, you draft him.
-
I'd be fine with him. Now that the 2 best QB's are off the table, the Bears should stay away from second to worse teir QB's. There is more success at later picks in other positions and they need it. I'm not a Hoyer fan, but they do need something.

Today on my facebook I've had an article talking about 5th round draft pick Johnny Knox and one about 6th round Patrick Mannelly. The point of what was posted was their rounds. I love them both as Bears, but they are both exceptions to the rule. I know the Bears have a lot of lower picks, but I mean really.... Are they going for a we got rid of of the Black Unicorn but you may get one of these guys kind of thing?
-
I think the Browns would have sat where they were if they were going to take a QB. I couldn't see them being so in love with him, that they would trade down. I expect that the QB they wanted will be picked by Rams, and they responded by trading down.
-
There went my first round QB long shot dream.
-
Did you add that up right? I know I was the QB as the biggest need, which would have put that floor at 10 and it is 6. I went QB with the 1st need a couple of days ago, because of the value of the position, the need going into the future, and time it takes to find one. It's important to me to find one before the team gets back into the "Maybe Kordell Stewart can be good" phase ends up happening. Safety was second for me and CB third because I think both positions are currently below average talent and depthwise, and each account for 2 positions of need imo.

I think all views on Cutler are on the side when talking about QB as an option. He's old enough that it puts QB on the table, good or bad. Cutler is a luxury for a team that will need a QB soon. On Goff, I think it depends on how they feel about him. He may be a Lock franchise QB to Pace, or they may be considering a trade back. We know there were rumors going into last years draft even on draft day, that the Bears were going to trade up for a QB. We know the Bears have interviewed QB after QB this year. If they think that he is a lock, trading up isn't out the window. That's for a good reason, because locking up QB is more important than any 5 needs you may have on a team.
-
To be honest, I could see the Bears trading up for Goff. They were ready to make the move last year but couldn't get it done. This year, it seems like they are checking out all possible options at the position before they do. I'm not a mock draft kind of guy, so I say 50/50 on if Elliot will be there at 11. It's kind of weird that Dallas wasn't in the Forte market, so Elliot could go that high. I'm not so sure the Bears will be picking at 11. I would also go 50/50 on them trading up to get Goff or trading down.

The idea that if someone says X then someone comments "then go watch that team" is a stupid one. It's not calling him stupid, it is just a ridiculous comment that is way too often used in many circumstances and a stupid one at that. And there is ignorance in his stance that anyone's opinion of ex-Bears from that statement. That is not an insult to him, it is just a fact. The statement implies that if you defend or disagree with the loss of a player, then you must stop being a Bears fan and go watch them. That's a blanket statement, that doesn't consider any facts, and an indicator of ignorance when it comes to opinions of players who left for other teams. It's not meant as insults, just facts.

I think if they kept Marshall that Bennett would have never complained about a new deal, and Jeffery would have been signed at a below market deal(as Marshall always did). For all the talk of Marshall being a locker room cancer, those two seem to be pretty darn good friends with him. They were even training at his facility last offseason. However, money does talk. If they gave him the going rate for a TE and some security, then I think he would have re-signed. I think him asking for one last year was just being pissed about Marshall, along with why Jeffery won't sign a deal. They were friends with Marshall. Trained with him. Saw how hard he worked and his passion during the game, then he was shipped out of town for nothing. That doesn't give players much faith that the organization will do right by them.
-
No, its basically a 5th round pick with what the Bears gave back. He could have been resigned if they weren't so anal with him. 5th round picks rarely turn out and have little value.
-
He had 2 ints and 11 tds in the redzone last year.
-
What's your sample size of the two?
-
Have you seen the Booze Cruise stuff with Gronk? They let him do his own thing, which they would with him too. They care about what happens on the field. The blaming him for Cutler's INT's thing is ridiculous. It's been a common problem of his prior to Bennett joining the team and will continue to be. They limited Cutler last year because of the fact he is Cutler and not because of Bennett. I really hate that he is getting a smear campaign as he leaves. He fought through injuries that would sideline other players while producing for the team.
-
I think they could have got more value if they had played it better. If they put off an image of we are rebuilding and players are avaiable and kept the drama in house, then they would have got better value on both. Ownership let it be known early that they were discontent with Marshall, and it was shown in how they handled Bennett at the end of the year that he could be had cheap.
-
These guys don't go to practice, then hang out all the time after that. They show up, do their job, go home. We all have ppl we don't like at our job's and deal with it. These guys are top in their field, play hurt, and try to win. I really hate it when ppl say that stupid crap. It's so ignorant. "You don't agree with my opinion and it isn't not blindly loyal to team, then go support another team." If they were still here, you would be making the same argument to someone wanting to get rid of them, go support another team. It's not like they were toxic and everyone hated them. Jeffery loved Marshall and is a large reason he developed the way he has. That fact that I like the Bears and have an opinion is why I was here. There's no reason to even come to the message board if you are going to think everything they do is amazing. Just sit back blind bliss and be happy and eat some meatballs. Of course I will watch more of the Jets this year, because Forte and Marshall are there. Mainly because they are the Bears Bears offensive players in 20 years. I will also be watching the Bears when I feel like it, while you will be watching nothing as you sit blindly in a corner.
-
Of course, because our WR's looked so much better without Marshall, and the Jets suffered from his 109 catches, 1500 yards, and 14 TD's totally hurt the Jets. It only matters what a player does on Sundays on the field. You're team doesn't improve from the loss of talented guys like Marshall and Bennett. If you are a good coach, you ring them in and get it to work. You don't just cut bait for 5th round pics because you can't handle them.
