J.P. Richardson is pure slot WR.   Has some quickness and should also challenge for the PS.   There is nothing certain about the bottom end of our WR group although I believe Duvernay has the returner job locked up.   Scott and Olamide Zaccheaus are far from locks.  Richardson has better hands than both, adjusts to the ball well, and appears to be better at creating separation.    On the flip side the veterans have more speed.

Other than that we have the long snapper from Iowa to make our punter happy.  Given all of our issues at LS last season who knows if he has a shot to win the job.  For everyone else their career highlight will likely be the invitation to Bears training camp.

If you get a chance to see OZ in the " Hail Mary" Washington game, he was back on punt returns.

Nice job! Pretty realistic which can be hard, except that I don't think Mike Green would be there at 41 (plus I don't think he's a likely Bears target due to character concerns), but swap him out with one of the 2nd round DEs like Landon Jackson or JT Tuimolloau, and I think this makes a lot of sense.  I would personally swap the TE and WR picks - I think WR3 is a bigger need than TE2, although with Arroyo being able to be moved around maybe he can play enough in the slot that he helps in that area.  I wouldn't be mad at all with this, though.

Great point about Green and character concerns but, with Grady Jarrett, Billings and Montez Sweat as established players on this team, the bears are in a much better position to take a chance that the veterans in the locker room will handle youthful immaturity.

  3. Today's smokescreen has Graham's stock slipping and having him available at 10. This along with Campbell's stock dropping are what I just heard on both the Score and AM1000. Supposedly this coming from Albert Breer.

That's a good point. They did what we did this year and added 3 OL in free agency. They're a LT away from a major upgrade. The problem is Campbell and Membou aren't true LT prospects. Jeanty is one of the blue chip players. At 4 you to have draft one of them.

Campbell is more of a LT than Membo because he played the position as a true freshman for 3 years in the same conference as Membo who played 94 percent of his snaps at RT. The only knock on Campbell is short arms and Membo is being projected to LT because of his Combine workouts.

Just listen to the Score segment with Ourlads leading scout. ( They are a scouting report that 26 NFL teams purchase every year)  and he was saying NEs going to draft Jeanty. I haven't heard one other pundit say that. It actually makes sense with Vrabel being their new coach . Derrick Henry was his offense in Tennessee.

Also that the bears will have the choice of the first tackle off the board Campbell or Membou. He says he thinks they take Campbell. Haugh mentioned Banks and he said as a freshman banks was rated to be the best OT in this draft but has never gotten better in 3 years. He says he will be moved to guard in the NFL.

He also said Campbell will be tried at LT but he used a term I have never before ( wingspan differential) and said it's the worst of any lineman this year. His wingspan is shorter than his height. He said his tape is good against elite competition but will eventually be moved to guard.

None of that interview suggests we should draft him at 10. Also he thinks Mason Graham will be available at 10 .

I push back a little with the fact that Josh Mc Danials being his OC and he usually doesn't embrace a feature RB. This the guy who didn't extend Josh Jacobs.

I'm not sure it will fall that way but you do have good names.

I get the impression this is what you would do. Is that what you think the bears will do?  I'm not sure it's considered being a dinosaur to watch film ( 80% of the grade) and view other people's opinions.

I think you did get the first 3 positions right but not necessarily in that order. If the bears think Banks is the best LT in the draft they may very well draft him. I personally think they will not draft a OL in the first round but if they bring him in for a 30 visit that would be more likely.

So far they have met with 3 OTs Josh Conerly, Anthony Belton and John Williams and 2 IOL. Conerly is top 50 but not considered a first round pick. Obviously teams make grade that differently than football pundits. By their actions ( not bringing in the top 4 Ts) I don't think they will do that. Of course that doesn't mean they wouldn't, just trying to read the tea leafs.

Josh Conerly is my target because, I believe they may be going different from what we all think and the offseason so far has proved that there's a new approach. I'm thinking Shadeur Sanders is the wild card in the first round. If he goes in the top 10 or is on the board at10 anything goes.

  7. 10. Kelvin Banks Jr OT Texas- I think there needs to be competition for both Jone and Kiran

    39. Quinshon Judkins Ohio St, RB- Swift is not an every down back and Johnson can't avoid concussions with his running style. This prospect is a tough inside runner and a beast in pass pro.

    41. Mike Green Edge-Sacks are scarce and the Bears need serious competition at this position, his stats in college are impressive.

72.. Elijah Arroyo TE Miami I have watched this player practice at the Senior Bowl and he was a matchup nightmare. A toy for Ben Johnson.

    148. Malachi Moore S Miami- an aging Byard and a concussed Brisker tells me the Bears need depth at the position

233.Jimmy Horn Jr WR Slot Colo -unless DJ Moore Or Odunze is going inside, this is competition for Tyler Scott

    240. Eric Gregory DL3T Ark - his listed size and weight say 1 T so a student for both Billing and Garrett

This is my first swing at a mock this offseason and I will probably do 1 more before the draft. I'm a Dinosaur, so I actually use Big boards and my actually watching the players play during their season as my reference.

  8. It looks like the defensive momentum from the second half of last season, has continued so far. They have looked like they are emphasizing ball hawking. My only concern is that on some of those DB blitzes, they should go for a strip of the ball.

Odunze looks even better than advertised. If not for Caleb, Rome would be the talk of the town. Recently, he talked about breaking Puca's rookie receiving records and talked about how they played together at Washington.  That is a great personal goal, but with Moore, Allen, Kmet, Everett, and Swift also looking to eat, I don't think Odunze will break the records, but I still think he will have a better season than most are projecting.

There are 28 rookies who broke 1K yards, I think Odunze will do that.

There are only 3 players to break 100 catches, Nacua, Waddle, and Boldin. What is interesting to me is there are no other players over 92 receptions, as Michael Thomas comes in 4th at 92.  Rashee Rice had 79 for 14th and Zay Flowers had 77 for 15th. I think Rome is better than both of them. So I could see him getting 85-1050, or something like that.

    Other recent rookies:

    Olave - 72-1042
    Wilson - 83-1103
    Waddle - 104-1015

To hit 85 catches, all he would have to do is catch 5 balls a game. I don't think that is unrealistic. Moore and Allen are going to draw a lot of attention leaving Odunze on either CB2 or CB3 every game.

With a 2 TE set being a staple of Waldron's offense Odunze will be hard pressed to hit those marks especially with Moore and Allen also seeking targets.

  10. The behind the scenes look at the Bears war room was very cool to see and the comments Poles was making on the second day of the draft about " The Punter" and going back in to get Booker was very good to see because it looked as though he executed his draft plan on both days.

For someone that made 10 mil while in college, if he has a great start, I can see him in his third season wanting the money . So much for a 5 year rookie contract.

I thought there is a rule that you cannot negotiate an extension before the end of year 3of a rookie contract. That means the Bears would still have year 4 plus the 5th year option at their disposal.

  12. When it comes to Andy Dalton and Nick Foles in both of their previous stops before coming to the Bears it was determined that both wouldn't do well with young QBs. The Bengals got rid of Dalton before they drafted Joe Burrow and the Eagles felt compelled to release their Super Bowl MVP because there was reports of a divide in the locker room about their first round QB Carson Wentz.

I feel like this draft is going to be the most impactful draft since Payton and or the Butkus Sayers draft. The difference is the Bears' teams back then sucked. The Bears are adding to a 7-win team that lost 3 games they should not have, and now added two top 10 players.

Comparing Odunze to guys like JSN and Olave, I actually prefer Odunze over those guys. He is going to learn so much from Moore and Allen.

Bookmark this thread and come back next January when the Bears are playing in the playoffs.

How about that '83 draft Covert, Gault, Duerson, Bortz and Dent ? Two HOF and all starters plus Thayer was in this draft but went to the USFL.

  14. My no trade Mock:

    1. Caleb Williams USC QB - Both sides seemed to be locked in so much so that Caleb is on X saying he is a big fan of Rome Odunze

    9. Rome Odunze Washington WR- This is the presumptive first pick's public choice but, if the top edge rusher is on the board , I'm grinding my teeth.

    75. Bralen Trice Washington Edge- I like how tis player played in the CFP semifinal game against Texas putting pressure on the QB and setting the edge against the run. In the championship game it looked like Michigan schemed to minimize his production.

    122. Sedrick Van Pran OC Georgia- with the moves that the Bears made in the offseason , the center position is still a mystery. So this is a pick that is insurance and long term continuity . So far Doug Kramer has not panned out

What they do at 9 is dependent on pretty much every pick from 2-8. It would be amazing if ATL got docked their 1st rounder for tampering with Cousins, which could move the Bears to #8. No team would benefit more from an ATL docked pick than the Bears. 9 to 8 would be the biggest draft value bump (equivalent of a late 4th rounder).

I'll say from 4/5 to 8. There is not going to be any punishment levied this close to the draft.

  16. I wouldn't trade up for MHJ. I also believe that Nabors or Odunze will be available at 9. Minnesota did not acquire two first round picks to stay back and wait for a replacement for Cousins. I believe 4 QBs will go in the top 10 and maybe the top 5. That number 4 pick is where the most likely spot for Harrison to go. AZ already having 2 1st rounders may be tough to move of 4 but, the Chargers with a new HC and GM may be willing to deal as well as NYG at 6. Tenn at 7 and ATL 8 aren't WR spots.

Poles has made 21 picks in his 2 drafts and I'm okay with him staying with 4 picks and will consider Sweat, Allen and Bates as part of this draft.
