How many guys you listed were the number 2 pick in the draft? As for Staubach by him coming out of the Naval Academy he had a 5 year commitment to the Navy so why would the Cowboys start him in his rookie year?

Through the years the Bears luck with O-line picks in early rounds even when the great Jim Finks was drafting has been bad. Lionel Antwione .Dennis Lick, Jimbo Covert,Troy Auzienne, Marc Colombo, Chris Williams, Gabe Carimi, and now Kyle Long.This team has gotten better line play out of UDFAs and mid to late round picks and FA pick ups. Jay Hilgenberg, Big Cat Williams(who also played defensive end), Mark Bortz(a defensive tackle converted) Tom Thayer(played in the USFL),Olin Kreutz. We have recently had 2 7th round starting left tackles Webb and now Leno. In my 51 years of watching this team play they have never drafted O-line well. Walter Payton played his entire HOF career behind not one HOF lineman and Gayle Sayers as well.

I looked at your list and see you have a couple of players that played in other leagues(Theismann and Young) 1 player that was a 3rd round pick(Farve) a player that wasn't a rookie and under a new coach(Jim Hart) and another player who was involved in a bizarre decision by his coach to shuttle plays in with the quarterbacks (Staubach who also had a Navy commitment and Craig Morton to compete with) and Brees and Rivers were together and again Rivers was behind a sure HOF QB.So as I look at your list I'm trying to see what angle you are going for because you omitted names of QBs that played right away and tried to hide behind using players that played in the 60's, 70's and 80's and then threw Bobby Lane in who played for the Bears his first year behind an established starter and partied his way into getting traded to the Lions.

Agreed and Trubisky himself has said Glennon has been great to him.

Traditionally the number 2 pick is looked at to make an immediate impact but, Trubisky's limited playing time in college is something to consider currently listening to AM1000 ESPN Waddle and Sylvy and they named several current starters that didn't start on game one and several that did start game one. Checkout some of the sit list:Brady,Rogers,Brees,Rivers,E.Manning and Rothlesberger.These guys had either an established veteran or a future HOF in front of them! At least 3 on this list are HOF. The play right away list: Alex Smith,Andy Dalton, Matthew Stafford, Marcus Mariotta,Matt Ryan,Derek Carr,J.Winston, Andrew Luck,Russell Wilson,Carson Palmer, Carson Wentz and Cam Newton. I'm being lazy and not checking but I think Tannehill is a day 1 starter also. Again I add that the amount of games played in college should be taken into consideration but a lot of these players didn't take snaps under center Like "Biscuit" and Glennon hasn't taken many snaps for 2 years and is learning a new offense so what big advantage does he really have in terms of experience? This team is a solid LT away from being as equipped as the Cowboys were for Dak Prescott.

In one of the Friday papers either the Sun Times or Daily Herald there was an article that said only 11 guys drafted or acquired by Phil Emery remain with the team and off the top of my head Long, Fuller, Leno jr.,Odonnell,Miller, Christian Jones and I think Cam Meredith as well as McManus are 7 guys linked to Emery. I'm stomped on the remaining 4! Help!

BTW Long did not practice according to AM1000.

I too worry about injuries but, Long is considered a core guy and should conduct himself as much. H e also needs to temper his frustrations since his team has a new starting QB.

The man reason that Jeffrey dropped to the 2nd round was that his weight at South Carolina had ballooned and his commitment to conditioning was questioned. Without Brandon Marshall to push him he has gone back to what most experts initially thought of him.

Truth be told that you won't get from Pace or Fox( who both think they are secret agents), according to reports on ESPN 1000 its the other knee! Those two sat there in the presser and Pace who did most of the talking said "I don't believe anyone is starting on PUP list this year." Come on its July and they lie about overall health on day one?
