We might have a couple candidates, Steltz, Harrison and Davis. The only thing with davis is the fact that we have Clark and olsen in place.
-
Who cares whether they take offense to it? It's not like they have a leg to stand on. It's true.
-
I blame Kruetz for alot of those fumbled snaps. It happened with Miller, matthews, and Orton as well. He tends to snap it straight up in the air and hits himself in the ass with it. Just watch some film. NO I am not worried about Rex fumbling snaps or Kyle for that matter.

What an insightful post.

Hey, I think we're going to be a much better team this year. I don't give a shit whether Hester plays or not. We will be better.
-
Considering he started training camp on the PUP list, that's kind of questionable.
-
I guess people forget that his coaches at Miami tried to make him a WR and he failed pretty badly. I can see why this illustrious coaching staff we have that is so adept at developing young talent will Ipso Facto zap hester right into a premier NFL WR. He'll be a first ballot HOFer for sure. Now, just in case that doesn't happen, I mean, we all agree, he is incredibly intelligent and should have no problem grasping the complexities of the position, but, just on the off chance that he doesn't make it as WR, do you think he might give back some of the guaranteed WR money he's asking for? Let's face it. He's a great returner but that's it. That is where it ends right now. To all you Hester apologists who insist the Bears give him what he wants, I say this. You are delusional. You refuse to see that the Bears have made him a very fair offer. 2 PHUCKING YEARS AHEAD OF TIME. You obviously haven't given much thought to what this would do to our cap situation if Hester failed at WR. I mean, sooner or later, we are going to need to sign a QB and he is going to command alot of money whether he is good or not. Contrary to popular belief, money does not grow on trees.
-
I wholeheartedly agree. People are making way too much of Hester's worth to this football team. Yes, he is probably the best returner ever to play the game but that doesn't make him worth anywhere near 45M. He still hasn't proved he can A) catch the ball consistently, Learn the playbook or at the very least, know where to line up, or C) show he can run the routes, not just flying down the sideline, I mean ALL the routes #1 WRs run. I agree that a trade would bring us some much needed help. If he plans to holdout all season, hell, let somebody else deal with it.

What he is going to find out is that Bear management does a pretty good job of taking care of their players but they will not negotiate until he gets to camp so if he thinks he's accomplishing anything but screwing up his chance at becoming a WR or pissing Chicago fans off, he's dumber than I thought. And that's pretty dumb. He's has taken Urlacher off the fan hotseat so I'm sure Urlacher is happy. But he is being a selfish prick. No, not for wanting more money. i think everyone understands that he deserves it, but the amount is completely out of line. We've all seen what Cribbs is making. Is hester that much better? Hell, there are people who would argue that Cribbs is a better return man. His money is a fraction of what this moron is asking for.
-
That would imply that he was smart enough to figure that out on his own. Apparently not.
-
Just got the word.

One of the guys from the another board brought up that this has Deion Sanders thumbprint all over it. That wouldn't surprise me in the least. I hope Uncle Deion has a spare room for Devin. He's gonna need it.
-
I wouldn't even negotiate with him until he gets to camp. Phuck him. He hasn't proven he's a WR. So he's a return guy. How do ya pay a return guy? They all want WR money but there is only 1 problem with that. THEY AREN"T WRs. I'm all for giving him more money but I would tell him right now that I am prepared to let him rot unless he gets to camp. This is absolute bullshit. It may be a smart move on his agents part but now the Bears need to make a statement to him. LOUD AND CLEAR. GET YOUR ASS TO CAMP OR ALL NEGOTIATION STOPS!

This football team will have a dominant defense and the best ST in the league. Obviously, what we have lacked in the past, is an offense. That didn't stop us from getting there in 06. I do think this offense will be a true surprise to most everyone out there. You watch them start using that 2 TE singleback formation as part of the scheme and with our talent at TE, it will work as good for us as anyone that uses it. ( See Dallas and Indy). It tells me why they drafted Kellen Davis. Keep your eyes open for this offense. This might just be the year they actually show up to play.

I go back to Bill Wade in terms of being a fan and while I'm not ready to throw rex completely under the bus, I am ready to let the bus run over a toe or two. To be in the league 5 yrs and still have a question mark is damn near absurd. Unfortunately for all of us, I fear it is not just rex but our coaching staff as well. This staff has been horrible at developing the younger players. Hey, you may not like Orton but you haven't seen enough of him to make a true judgement. What he does have is size, he is smart, his ego is such that he may be more prone to the safer play so he can live to fight another day, he has the arm to make ALL the throws. What he needs is a coaching staff that will help him develop, not wait for him to phuck up so they can throw rex in there. That philosophy will not work. It only puts more pressure on both these guys. I believe that Orton can be a good QB in this league if they work with him but they need to do a better job than they did with Rex. They cannot coddle him. In regards to JAs drafting, if you are going to damn him for first rd picks, you have to praise him for his finds in later rds. The other thing he does well is he manages the money better than anyone else could. He is great at early resignings and that has really helped our cap situation to be much more managable but, I will add that he really needs to engage an offense consultant to help him pick that talent because he has not done well there.

If they don't do something very soon about the salaries in the NFL, it's going to get ugly. First, NO, I do NOT believe that the players deserve 60-65% of the profits when they share ZERO responsibility for the operation of the NFL. You can say they are the product but that's just semantics. The product is the game. People love the game. History has proven that players come and go but the game is there for good. I do think the producing players should be paid accordingly but this has gone well beyond reasonable when a Rookie with no experience can come in and get 21M guaranteed money. Green Bay's total profit last year was 21M. Unfortunately, there will always be the few owners with the most money circumventing the system at every opportunity just like they have with the salary caps and THAT is why they are in trouble now. Sorry but I think Goodell is a puppet to guys like Jerry Jones. Do you really think Jones would sign Pacman or whatever the hell he calls himself now, if he didn't know that Goodell was going to reinstate him? I think the system is a mess but the owners have noone to blame but themselves. Somehow, someway, they were duped into believing that giving away 60-65% of their profits was not going to bite them in the ass down the road. Well, we're down the road and the owners asses are bleeding. I just say, make the rookies earn their money. Take the game back from the agents and lawyers.

That Denny Green tirade was classic but only illustrates one of his deficiencies as a coach. His teams seem to forget you have to play FOUR quarters, not two, I think teams have figured out the cover 2 but that doesn't neccesarily mean that they can score at will on it. I think we've found over the past few years that for it to work, you need an excellent line rotation. 1 standout guy on the line won't cut it AND you need extraordinary safety play. These are 2 things we didn't have last year. I think you will see a marked improvement in our defense and I'll go sa far as to say if we get Brown back 100%, Urlacher and Harris are healthy and Alex brown comes to play. This defense will be dominating. I think either Grossman or Orton can play in this league and if they have better protection, which they should, we have some potentially dangerous weapons on offense.
-
Let's also not forget about Cris Carter and Robert Smith who retired years too early.
-
Yes but the question is, how well? I'm still a bit disappointed that we didn't get some more o linemen. I'm just hoping the real reason for that is that there will be some better talent available via trade or cuts in training camp.
-
STOP IT! My Goodness! What on earth is wrong with you? How many freakin ways does Culpepper have to prove he's NOT capable of playing QB in this league before guys like you will give it a rest? What? Does he need to come here and screw up our entire offense and fail miserably so you will finally give it up? Sorry guy but if you think that Culpepper is better than either Orton or Grossman, you need to slowly back away from that crack pipe you've been toking on. I apologize if you think I sound like a jerk but enough already with the Culpepper saga.

Some very good points. I'm just glad that we realize that our defense laid an egg last year. They embarrassed themselves. Yeah, they had injuries but they played with ZERO heart and intensity aside from maybe a couple series all year. This concerns me mostly because that is a poor reflection of your coaching staff. What's also truly a shame is that here we are a team that built itself into a SB contender and in 1 yr we are, according to most the media KNOWITALLS out there, rebuilding? Sorry, but if this team is rebuilding, I want every coach and JA fired. That is neither logical or acceptable. You cannot go from competing the way we did against Indy in the SB, even shorthanded on defense to what we saw last year. That is mostly the coaches fault. Anything less than a playoff appearance is simply unacceptable and if they don't get to the playoffs, Lovie should be fired. If I were JA, I would make that perfectly clear. I think the younger McCaskeys would take the hit to get the right guy in here. If Lovie IS the right guy, he will field a winner this year with no excuses. Rex or kyle are good enough to get us to the playoffs and better than many think. For me, no more talk of rebuilding. We've been there, done that.

Precisely. This football team was decimated with injuries last year yet won 7 games against a brutal schedule. The reason for that is because the talent level on this team is grossly underrated by a few morons in the media and some of the fans. I think ALOT of the offense 's problem began and ended with Benson. I also think the rest of the team hated his guts and hoped he'd fail so they in turn helped him out a little bit. With the exception of Berrian, and even he might be replaced by a better receiver as only time will tell, but listening to the reports regarding Hester and Lloyd, hey maybe one of them can replace him easily, we'll see. But Berrian being the exception, we are better than we were last year on offense. Couple that with a healthy defense with a chip on it's shoulder and this team is gonna surprise alot of people. Let's not forget, this team was good enough to go to the SB year before last. That wasn't a fluke. THAT team was real and THIS team, if healthy is better.

I laugh everytime I hear somebody talk about bringing in Culpepper. WTF has that turd done in the last 4 yrs to make you think he is anywhere near a viable option or for that matter, even a comparable option to what we have now? His hands are tiny so he will ALWAYS have a fumbling problem, he's as dumb as a stump, he looks more like a linebacker than a QB yet we continue to have Bear fans who remember 1 season out of what? 8? that he was any freakin good and then he had Moss, Carter and Smith. Look, do yourself a favor and FORGET ABOUT DAUNTE FREAKING CULPEPPER. He is a bust. Stop referring to him as he should be on ANYBODY's freaking radar.

As a football fan, I care alot about the integrity of the game but as a realist, I care more about what I spend my time worrying about. The truth is, The institution of football will lie, cheat, steal and anything else they have to do to make this go away. Roger Goodell proved that by destroying evidence he gathered in his investigation. HE wants this to go away and so do all the owners who were not openly affected by the spygate scandal. They do not want the image of football to be tarnished so they will ALL toe the company line to protect NE, Bellicheck and anyone else involved and they will somehow deal with it behind closed doors. It's simple really, if they don't care enough to FULLY investigate this thing, why the hell should I?

Your argument is that teams don't always honor their ends of the contracts?????? Nonsense. Brian Urlacher knew damn good and well when he accepted that signing bonus that the salary caps were going to go up. Why did he sign such a long term deal? By the way, that big fat signing bonus is negotiated by the players to ensure they get their money upfront in case something happen so just because teams cut players DOES NOT mean the aren't honoring their end of the contract. So I guess the Bears are to blame that Urlacher negotiated a bad deal? That is if you call what he's been making a bad deal. Ya know, Urlacher brought all of this upon himself. He whined like a little bitch last year about the media, then he said he was playing hurt, then on top of all that, he has surgery on his neck. After ALL THAT, now he wants the Bears to pay him more money? Jesus, this guy just seems like a complete IDIOT! I don't care what he's done for the Bears. HE"S BEEN PAID FOR IT.
