  1. No thanks... I'm not giving up one of our starting DEs for Johnson. It looks like we're already gonna lose Briggs so now you wanna deplete us even more and get rid of Brown? We don't need a Chad Johnson, WE NEED A CONSISTENT O LINE AND CONSISTENT QB. Chad Johnson doesn't do us any good if we can't get him the ball. By the way, what's he doing for Cinci besides giving his QB heartburn and his teammates a headache?
  2. My favorites are: Obviously the SB victory Sayers 6 TD game against San Francisco Payton running for 275 against Minnesota Marshall and Wilson running side by side after the fumble in the NFC Championship game. It seemed like it was all in slow motion The Bob Thomas FG in 77 against the Giants to put us in the playoffs for the first time since 1963.
  3. Yeah, I can hear Madden now...."Did you see that determination in his eyes?" "Oh my my my what a WARRIOR".
  4. If I were Lovie Smith, I would change the running game. First, I would fix this o line once and for all and then instead of trying to find the next Barry Sanders, I would be trying to lock on to an honest to God FB who actually runs with the ball. Who knows, maybe Benson would run better between the tackles if it were softened up a bit by a guy with powerful legs, low to the ground and somebody that can punish tacklers. Hey, Benson might even become the change of pace between the tackles.
  5. I'm sorry but there is obviously more to this story. I suspect there are either more problems than he's talking about at home or he was asked to leave. I mean, I loved my mother and I even really like my mother in law but I'm not quitting a job because they get sick. That's just kinda the natural order of things at that age.
  6. No thank you. I'd rather find a guy who has less miles on him.

    QB comparison

When this football team decides to STOP HIRING DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS as Head Coaches and starts hiring OCs or guys who at least have HC experience, then you will start to see better offensive player development. Truth is though that Turner should be much better at it than he has been and that is why he really should NOT be given the opportunity to return. The last good QB we drafted was McMahon and Ditka was in charge of that draft. To think that we pay QB coaches and then continue to watch as our QBs throw off their back foot, or don't step up in the pocket, can't read a blitz or have accuracy issues is again an indictment against the HC and executive management.
  8. Sorry but I look at his numbers and I am not impressed enough with him to think he is even an upgrade over any of our guys let alone giving him a big contract and giving a 1st and 3rd. Nothing about this guy makes me say we gotta have him. Believe me, if Clev felt like he was really worth pursuing, they wouldn't be dangling him out there as if there were some possibility of them trading him. If they wanted to keep him, they would have resigned him already or at the very least would not be discussing trade scenarios.
  9. I would much rather see Angelo trade down for more picks. Aside from Ryan, I don't see any QBs that get me going or that I'd want to gamble a 1st rd pick on. I'm not even sure I'd risk it on Ryan. If we could move down and pick up another 2nd, I'd be ecstatic. Unless of course, Kenny Phillips is available when we pick, then I'm picking him. If he isn't then my mindset shifts to o line with the 1 and 2 and if we have another 2, then I go with the next best safety.
  10. Unfortunately, I think this is one of those wait and see years based on what JA gets thru FA. I hope he makes his moves fast and furious. Hey, even if he overpays a bit, I'm ok with that. Getting what we need in FA is most important right now. He can make up for overpaying by drafting well, which I think he'll do.
  11. I agree here. I too think that Orton played with more authority than either Rex or Griese. He may not have had the stats but just watching him operate the offense, seeing his arm strength, his pocket presence, I think we can let Griese go if we resign Rex. We don't need a guy who might be #3 on the depth chart getting 5M. I would love to see the Bears use an offense consultant to help them pick the next QB. They have made so many bad choices for so long, let somebody who makes their living at finding, scouting, knowing talent hep out.
  12. Source: Lions fire Martz, promote Colleto, Brown to lead offense ESPN.com news services Updated: January 2, 2008, 3:01 PM ET Comment Email Print The Detroit Lions have fired offensive coordinator Mike Martz and promoted offensive line coach Jim Colleto and wide receivers coach Kippy Brown to run the offense in his place, a source in the organization told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Martz Colleto will be named offensive coordinator and remain as the offensive line coach, while Brown is being promoted to assistant head coach and passing game coordinator, and will also serve as running backs coach. Martz confirmed his firing to the Detroit Free Press. "We fell short of what we wanted to do offensively, and I regret that," he told the newspaper. In other changes, the Lions promoted Shawn Jefferson from offensive assistant to wide receivers coach and fired Martz's son, Tim Martz, as an offensive assistant. On Sunday, after their season ended with a loss to the Green Bay Packers, members of the Lions offense said the blame should be on them. "You can keep changing coaches, but every time you change them that's a new system,'' said quarterback Jon Kitna. "The reality is, the games that we lost, the majority, the times that things didn't go right, it was self-inflicted stuff. "It wasn't a coaching thing where you were outcoached or they weren't putting you in a position to be successful. There were plays to be made, and we didn't make them for whatever reason that is.'' However, Martz is not expected to be out of work for long. According to media reports, the San Francisco 49ers will seek him out as a replacement for current offensive coordinator Jim Hostler. Martz led the St. Louis Rams to the playoffs in four of his five full seasons as a head coach, including a Super Bowl after the 2001 season, and helped the franchise win the 2000 Super Bowl as offensive coordinator. The Rams went 51-29 in the regular season and 54-33 overall during his five full seasons as coach. ESPN NFL reporter Chris Mortensen contributed to this report, which contains information from The Associated Press.
  13. After watching Orton perform under center for the last 2 games, I'm more convinced that while we do need a better o line, a QB who is smart with good fundamentals and somebody who has been around like McNabb could have won at least 2-3 games this year for us. I don't like Anderson because frankly, his last 7 games were not that great, 9 Tds and 11INTs. I also think he needs developing and let's face it, we don't do that very well here in Chicago. Truth be told, he may not be any better an option than our current crop of QBs, surely we can get that kind of production from them. But to pay him all that money plus give up the draft picks? Sorry, I would still go McNabb and I can't really say I like him that much but he's a better choice for us than Anderson. We'd probably want to negotiate/restructure with McNabb to make it a better long term cap friendly deal. His 2008 6.3M isn't bad but they got 9.2M in 2009 and 10M in 2010. Both those numbers are real salary. If we could get McNabb without it killing us I would go for it. What do we give the Eagles for him?
  14. You never know. Look at what teams might offer Berrian and Rex and we know first hand what they look to be worth. I want him here, make no mistake I also want us to draft a safetyt and possibly bring another is from FA. That's how important I think the position is.
  15. Draft Phillips and add one thru FA.
  16. Alex Brown really should have NEVER lost his job. Personally, I think that he might've pissed off Lovie/Angelo with his comments before the season started about exploring a trade. He obviously handled his discontent in the wrong way but you are right, he should be starting hands down come next year. Shame on Lovie for taking his angst against Brown to the point he did. He only looks like more of an idiot for doing it. Just another bad decision. Speaking of Lovie, one more season like this one and maybe it's him asking, "do you want fires with that?" I agree with the QB assessment. I wonder what Orton or Rex might have become had we had a coaching staff capable of developing young players. I still hold out hope for Orton but don't know if Rex will be back. I hope they go after him but that's another position where teams will overpay him even as a backup. I do think though that he knows his best chance to start is in Chicago. Like it or not, Lovie has wood for the guy and would probably give him the starting job wether he won it or not. Amen re: Hester. Right now, he's the golden child. I know his deal is good for 2 more years but we should try to do something along the lines of acknowledgment that we appreciate his effort. I know we have alot of guys that we need to redo deals and we have alot of holes to fill but if we went to he and his agent and said, hey, here is a bonus for x amount, I know you want a LT deal and so do we, right now we gotta lock up some pretty high priced guys and as soon as we can, we will revisit your deal. We need to pay Ayanbedejo, franchise Berrian so nobody else can sign him without compensating us, even if it costs us more for a year, if we get our o line fixed and a stable QB situation, we can make that decision next year. If he has the drops again, we simply let him go. Briggs is good as gone, too many teams will break the bank to get him and contrary to what he might be saying, he won't be offering any hometown discount.
  17. Why would you waste your time responding to a post that is obviously a malicious attempt to discredit a fat prick? Spare me, I don't really care to elaborate or even revisit the post. LET IT GO!!!!!!
  18. He's lying about his personal choice, that's how. Normally, I wouldn't use the word liar unless I was trying to discredit the individual. In this case, I am, so I called him a liar. Without debating you on the usage of the word, it's my opinion. Now, you can call me a liar and say that I'm lying about my opinion OR, you could just take the phuckin post in the spirit in which it was intended. It was intended to discredit Peter King, who I think, (and I'm not lying) is a prick. I hope that explains it.
  19. This guy is a cancer. In the time he's been here, I have yet to see any more than a sprinkling of any form of redemption. You can't fix what you don't know is broken. I blame Lovie Smith, our OC and RB coach for that. It's clear again that they can't develop talent. It's really more a sad statement about our coaches than Benson. Everybody knows he's a freakin idiot.
  20. He's just trying to get a column read that's all. He's a liar or just incredibly stupid if he says he'd rather have Cribbs over Hester. He just wants to spark some controversy. He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
  21. Let's be more creative with M Brown. We don't have to cut him if we don't think he can perform better than what we have. He has to have trade value. I still think at his price, if we can get him to renegotiate, we will be well served to keep him. You just can't let a vguy like that walk away. Worst case scenario, we engineer a trade.
  22. Face it, as nice as it was to beat GB and N.O., this defense must change it's philosophy. This depending on turnovers to win is ludicrous. It's actually just stupid and piss poor coaching. Turnovers are bonuses for a job well done. Teams that don't have sound enough fundamentals don't get alot of turnovers because they don't do the things needed to get them. You get turnovers by gang tackling, by hitting your man so hard it jars the ball loose, but you don't hit him and forget to wrap up. That's what give guys like Adrian Peterson 226 yds rushing per game. No amount of turnovers is gonna help you if you don't play sound fundamental football. Lovie Smith had better realize that or all he's gonna be is another HC waiting to get fired.
  23. This is great if all we EVER want is to make the playoffs.
  24. Tell me you don't like Martz because he's a prick, or you don't like the way he parts his hair but to sit there and tell me that one of the BEST OCs in the last 25 yrs couldn't win here? If that's true, phuck it, this team is beyond ANY hope.
