I think you need to go back and watch the game films for the last 4 games last year. DA was probably our best asset. Of ALL the WRs on this roster, he might just have the best hands. I don't like Hester wide, I would put him in the slot. Let him make his YAC work for him. As for Knox, he simply needs to get better at getting off the LOS and into his route quicker or he's gonna be just a 1 trick pony. Not that the 1 trick won't be exciting, but it will be just 1 trick.

I agree Jason. Not that it was an ignorant question but I agree with your take on Cutler. Of course Cutler's a franchise QB. He absolutely improved the play around him with Knox, Hester, DA and Bennett. What everyone forgets is that our o line sucked, our RB was hurt, as improved as the WRs might have been, they did NOT often get the separation needed, we had an OC who was a freakin idiot, we haven't had a FB who can get that tough 1 yd on 3rd and 1 since forever. On top of that, our defense folded like a cheap suit.; If Cutler were still in Denver he would have been a premier QB. The REAL question people should be asking is will ANY of these WRs EVER amount to anything close to a Brandon Marshall? Will our o line actually help our RB put up numbers that make defenses key on him? Will Greg Olsen distinguish himself as a premier TE? Will Martz put this offense in a position to do some damage in this league or will he whimp out and become Lovie Smiths' whipping boy? Will this defense be able to hold teams to a reasonable number to allow the offense to have a more diverse gameplan?

I am concerned about Mike Martz with regards to his instincts about Hester and his subsequent acquiesence (?sp) to Lovie Smith. A kinder, softer Martz is not needed here. This asswipe we have for a Head Coach doesn't know enough about offense to be telling Martz where Hester is playing. Jerry Angelo knows less than Smith about offense. Guys, if these two have neutered Martz already, get ready for another more unfulfilled expectations. Martz should be playing who he wants, where he believes they are strongest. The Martz we NEED, is the guy who will tell Lovie to back the hell off and let him coach. Furthermore, we went through this shit last year with Cutler screaming for DA and now I fear it is happening again. I Have nothing against Hester and Knox but if I had to pick starters right now, Know and DA would be split and we would use Hester in the slot. That seems to be the consensus everywhere else as well so if we find Hester and Knox starting, I think the Mike Martz we all heard about has gone away and been replaced by a guy with no balls.

Loved player is a tie between Sweetness and Butkus but if I had to chose, I'd go with Payton. Hated player? I could never hate a Bears player but I certainly can dislike some and right now, my alltime dislike is for Tommie Harris. I am sick and tired of hearing what's gonna happen next week, next month, next season. I want to see it NOW. Too much talking and too many excuses have left me cold. My favorite coach was Gibron. He was bad but Jesus he was a lovable guy. My least favorite is Smith.

I think it's pretty obvious with what has happened to players on our team getting injured and having so much trouble getting back on the field as well as how we do physicals, that our team physicians are somewhat lacking. Maybe we should nickname them Team "You don't know jack".
-
It is hard to get fired up about picking up harris since we let him go not too long ago. Yes, he is better than what we have but it just makes me nauseous to see the incompetence in coaching and the GM to have to give up more talent for a guy they admittedly now should have kept.

What we have with DM is an incredibly gifted athlete who plays the game "soft". You simply CANNOT play safety in this league as soft as he plays it, his cover skills aren't any good and he doesn't tackle well. The ONLY thing he does do well is return kicks. The Bears are doing the right thing by tendering him where they did. If a team wants a KR and is willing to give a 3rd for Manning, I would gladly take it and use that pick for a FS. Let him piss, moan and cry all he wants but he cannot dispute his shortcomings.
-
Well, I'd tell Urlacher just like every other swingin dick on this team. STOP TALKING AND START SHOWING.

The best way for Martz to utilize Olsen is to make him a WR. Hell, he's worked with alot less talent than that before. There's no reason Olsen can't be a WR. What, are we afraid he's gonna take PT from some of our more prolific WRs?
-
Play him right next to Tommie "the walking excuse" Harris.

It wouldn't be the first time a rookie came in and had alot of success in his rookie season only to look like a journeyman his second year. I thought Forte had a hamstring issue very early and it never went away. It certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities that he just didn't work that hard in the off-season and the Bears knew it. Face it, with THIS coaching staff, who would know the difference?
-
He sounds a little bit like Tommie Harris. All this good stuff is going to happen "next time" we play or "next year". Live in the present dumb ass, having 1 foot in yesterday and 1 foot in tomorrow only means your pissin all over today.

For a 1st rd TE, He also doesn't catch as well as he should and he is not a real physical player. Gates and Gonzalez BOTH would eat his lunch right now.
-
I totally agree with his take on Olsen. If a TE can't block, he has 3 options, 1) Learn how to effectively block 2) If you have the speed, become a wide receiver 3) Chose another career. Olsen needs to learn how to block and if he can't do that, I don't really care who takes his place. So far, his career has been underwhelming. It's time he earns his spot in the lineup or gets the hell outta the way.

I'm just sick of all the talk. They are always going to be much better next week, next month, next year. Blah, blah blah. Stop your talking and put your money where your mouth is. That includes all of them.
-
Well hell, somebody had to give the Lions a reprieve from being the Lions. May as well be us.
-
That is great news. You reallyshould be proud of yourself and for yourself. My niece and Nephew both go there and they love the school. Keep up the great work.

Jay Cutler has proven to be a good QB. A pro bowl QB in fact. For him to be a winner takes a compliment of competent WRs, a RB, an o line that can actually pass block and run black, a coaching staff who knows how to evaluate and develop talent, a GM who knows how to draft on day 1, on OC who is able to make adjustments IN-GAME. That's all.

I keep hearing that Martz will employ the 5-7 step drops from everyone but Martz. You don't think they guy has been paying attention to our line play? Look, Martz is alot of things but he isn't stupid. I think it's a mistake to assume that Martz hasn't tweaked his scheme to Cutler's ability and strengths. But let's be honest, Cutler needs as much help as anyone in this offense. He needs to fix the fundamentals and Martz will help him do that. Martz will DEMAND he does that. One other thing we'll see from Martz that will be refreshing versus Ron Turners offense is that Martz is a guy who does not script plays, he goes by what is happening in the game NOW. We aren't going to hear that we couldn't get Olsen into the game because we game planned to use 4WR sets OR we game planned for him to be a H back. The key to success will be Cutler and Martz trusting one another enough to change.

I think Angelo brought in Tice as a possible safety valve OC after seeing the reaction by candidates to date and it may be the reason that Drake and Spencer were kept as well. No the Bears aren't the laughing stock of the NFL. They have way too much tenure in this league for that to happen but that window is opening inch by inch with every candidate gone south story and the apparent inactivity towards securing both OC and DC. Maybe Carmichael or Christensen are their targets and have been all along. I doubt it but at least that's a spin they can and probably will use if one of them comes here comes here. I'm not sure that it really makes a difference who the DC is given Smith's reluctance to change anything.
-
I'm not sure at this point that it really matters. Our HC is a freakin moron so what's the difference. We're just biding our time.
-
My top 5 would be Luckman Wade McMahon Harbaugh Cutler

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that the Bears again, closed their eyes to the obvious and wished and hoped that coaches would want to come here. In a perfect world, coaches would want to come here to coach. Why? Because we are one of the charter franchises of this league, our market allows much more endorsement and advertising opportunities than most and the history that exists here. Unfortunately, we are NOT in a perfect world. Our owners are the protoype for half-assed efforts, our HC is a dead man walking, the rest of the staff aside from our ST coach isn't very good. Also, by keeping Drake and Spencer and hiring Tice, we have pretty much told any OC candidate who we might want to speak with that they will NEVER run their own show here and by Smith being so adamant about not changing schemes, we have told any DC candidate the same thing. Funny, we all knew this was going to happen. Why didn't the Bears? That's another reason people don't want to come here. If there is a choice, we can always count on the Bears to make the wrong one. Guess well have to pray this turd shrinks so we can flush it but I fear that might take longer than many want to think about.

We gotta earn those stripes. Sometimes it means knocking a CB on his ass every once in a while so you start getting some attention paid to these non call PI penalties. How long do you think a TO, Randy Moss, would put up with a non call before doing something?
