  1. While Forte might look slow, I believe that our coaching staff knew that the first few weeks of the season, teams were going to be keying on Forte. Just like they would Adrian peterson up in Minnesota. There is a big difference so far though, Minn hasn't played anyone worth talking about, no disrespect to the Lions or Browns but let's face it, they aren't the defending world champion Steelers or our most hated rival Packers. Also I think we're a bit unsure of ourselves against a 3-4 in the running game. I'll be anxious to see how Forte does this week against the Seahawks 4-3.
  2. Thanks Mr Morrissey. Any other turds of wisdom?
  3. There are some things that do stand out for me. Defensively, Wale's reclaimation as well as Anderson flying all over the place I think this is more a product of Marinelli showing HIS prowess as a line coach. At least I hope it's Marinelli and NOT the contract year. I also liked what I saw from our secondary aside from Vasher. I think he got his money and quit working. I don't really think he has any place in this defense. I felt like Afalava was very comfortable in his position and he will be a force by season's end. Payne has been pretty good but his blunder on the winning TD drive kind of reminded of DM on his bad days. DM however looked pretty good so maybe he and Afalava can make it happen. I know people are going to try and exploit the middle, especially now that Urlacher is out but based on what I saw the second half of the GB game, I am not too terribly worried. Offensively, this unit was just not in sync. Turner's mistake from the get go. Cutler had a horrid night and was pressing way way too much and our receivers, both WR and TEs looked like they hadn't played a single down with Cutler in the first half. Bennett and Knox redeemed themselves in the 2nd half and i thought hester did everything that was asked of him. Olsen shit the bed as did Clark. Those guys need to pick it up. I think if Cutler and our WRs can get on the same page, this could be a special offense. I know Olsen will come around but he may not be the all world TE many of us think he is. Davis needs to see the field more and will now that Clark is hurt. Back to Turner, his play calling in certain situations continues to baffle. Why no play action at the 5 yd line? I'm not sure what to make of this o line. Pace and Omiyale looked bad the last 2 games. Kruetz looks slow and if he's gonna pull, he needs to get the freakin lead out or maybe we need to give the youngster a shot. All in all, I think we're better than the national media believes we are. They think this defense cannot possibly function without Mike Brown, Tommie Harris and Brian Urlacher but I believe we all know differently. Mike Brown hasn't been a factor in this defense for a few years. Tommie Harris, while getting all the national attention is NOT they key to this defense. The collective defensive line of the Bears is the key and Marinelli has them right where he wants them. They all said Brian Urlacher was overrated anyway so why should we be so much worse off with the LB corp we have. I think we have better depth than anyone in the league at LB and Pisa won't be out that long so we'll be fine. The only concern i have is ST coverage unit. They seemed to be bunched up all night. #87 got away from us more than he should have and the Packers had pretty good starting field position. All in all, I am not giving anyone a pass. I still expect a playoff team and don't buy for a minute that we can't be one.
  4. Look, this all came down to a bad decision by Payne and shitty coverage Vasher in the end. Prior to that, if Clark makes the catch in the endzone, we go up by 6, maybe we make a 2pt conversion, maybe we don't but we probably play it different. (hopefully). But blaming Lovie is not the answer for this one.
  5. Just sounds like healthy Bear enthusiasm to me. Of course, my first thought about the misdeeds of Jeffery Dahmer was, did he at least floss?
  6. I agree and I AM the biggest Lovie basher here. To lay this at his feet is silly. This goes to Turner, Cutler and the receiving corps, nate vasher, Patrick Mannely AND Frank Omiyale. THOSE are the true culprits. THEY cost us this game. I'm pretty happy with what I saw defenively from us last night. Afalava and Payne are going to be 2 bright spots this year.
  7. From a Lovie Smith basher, the ONLY culpability Lovie has with last night is he listened to the dipshits upstairs on the last challenge and THIS defense, aside from nathan vasher was ready to play. Our offense was not. THAT is on Cutler and Turner.
  8. Sorry, but that IS NOT a play you call on the road, especially not at GB. The reason? It's obvious. We screwed it up and there weren't 12 men on the field. The only thing worse than that call was Lovie challenging the play. WTF were his guys doing up in the booth? They should have told him ASAP. They were not on the ball.
  9. Bottom line is this, the NFLPA will rue this day when it comes to the next CBA discussions. They just crapped all over all the guys who play by the rules AND the ones who were disciplined in New Orleans. And NO, the NFL should NOT give the New Orleans guys a pass. This is the NFLPAs dault, plain and simple and I think this will cause some dissention in the ranks. I don't give a shit about the Williams twins. We're gonna beat Minnesota with or without them.
  10. Patience guys. This is a 16 game season. I believe we are the best team in our division and we may show it tonight or, we may have to build to it but I think in the end, we'll be the ones kickin ass at seasons end.
  11. Well, I don't know where we're going to find "quality" CBs but I do know that somebody else thought Hood sucked, he was cut today.
  12. What freakin game were you watching? He wasn't decent tackling and he looked HORRID in run support. We'll address why Tillman makes so many damned tackles in another thread but that is not a good thing when a CB makes as many tackles as Tillman does. It usually means he's getting picked on but i digress. We'll stick to the fact that Hood stinks and we should start all over looking for another CB. Being better than McBride is hardly a badge of honor.
  13. Taking Hood over McBride is like choosing the clap over syphillis. Either way it's bad, really really bad. Cut em both and pick up some new blood. We've got a week till GB. I think we could find better and get them in here ASAP. If we are forced to go with these two in ANY situation, we are screwed.
  14. Maybe you didn't see Hood last night. HE SUCKED!!!!!!! This guy can't cover, he's worse at tackling, oh, then maybe he will work with the Lovie Smith bears. Yeeesh, talk about a waste of time.
  15. ALL Bellichek disciples have egos, Weis, Crennel, McDaniels and so on. These guys all learned from the Parcells school of coaching, if you can't dazzle em with bullshit, ignore the sons of bitches and eventually they'll agree or go away. Problem is, unless you have some true talent to go along with that ego and as Weis, Crennel and now McDaniels are finding out. You don't start off at the top of the heap and all that talking is eventually gonna get you in hot water.
  16. I believe Tillman is the one hurt worse than we've been told. Shoulder injuries, back spasms, eeesh, I'm just afraid he's got some kind of issue with his neck. Hood certainly can't be any worse than Vasher or McBride so I'm all agog over the guy.

    As of right now

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm kinda finished with the Devin hester experiment. Ok, he's fast as hell and has good hands. Great, but he is as dumb as a box of rocks and I believe alot of the reason he isn't getting open more is because he is forced to think about different coverages and how to react. Anytime you ask this guy to think thru something, that ain't good. He is a reactive type of player. He was a great return guy because all he had to do was look for a block and see the field and react. Asking him to make reads and adjust his routes accordingly is simply asking too much. I am hoping that Turner will install a handful of offensive plays for him where he only has to do one thing and then he'll be fine but frankly, and I believe Cutler knows this as well, he will NEVER be a #1WR, maybe not even a good #2. He can go back to earning his keep on returns and be far more productive for this team than he is now. Right now, he's occupying a spot for a true WR, maybe not as fast but certainly one with better instincts of a WR than his.
  18. Then that would be a lollipop more than I would give.
  19. This group is gonna be stout.
  20. Well, I don't listen to Harris anymore. Nothing he has to say aside from, "I'm glad I could contribute to our win" interests me. I don't care what his religious beliefs are. I only care about what I see from him on Sundays. Tommie harris needs to put up or shut up. Simple as that, and this year will tell us everything we need to know about him. Vacations over Tommie, get your ass back to work.
  21. Frankly, I stopped reading ALL articles on Cutler. Not a Gosh Damn one of them are objective so why bother. My take on the guy is, he stacks up very well against Manning, Brady and favre for his first two yrs as starter and that's some stiff competition, he was voted to the freakin pro bowl last year, he is better than what we had, so screw the Pompeis and every other hatchet man out there looking to make a story. I'll take Cutler, warts and all.
  22. Now, if we could just get our idiot WR coach and any other coach on this staff to deliver the same message then EVERYONE would be on the same page.
