  1. Dusty Dvoracek denies report that he is out for season By Vaughn McClure Bears nose tackle Dusty Dvoracek said a report stating that he is done for the season with a torn right ACL is ``wrong' although he declined to discuss the specifics of the injury suffered in Saturday's exhibition against the New York Giants. The Bears would not confirm nor deny the report by the Sun-Times. Players in the locker room, including nose tackle Anthony Adams, talked as if they had already been informed that Dvoracek is indeed out for the season. ``It's bad any way you look at it,'' Adams said. ``I feel for bad for him and pray for him. It's tough man. Words do it a disservice.'' Dvoracek exited the lunch room wearing a protective sleeve on his right leg but walking under his own power. His agent, Bill Johnson, was unaware of any final determination on Dvoracek's status. Coach Lovie Smith is likely to address the issue after practice. This would be the fourth consecutive season-ending injury for Dvoracek. His status with the team going into the season was questionable considering his injury history. His contract is up after the 2009 season. Adams could emerge as the starter for the Sept. 13 season opener at Green Bay although Marcus Harrison might be more talented overall. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribu ... eason.html
  2. I'd say it's time for Dusty to look for hi next line of work. Football just doesn't appear to be in the cards for him. I feel bad for the guy.
  3. What on earth was this moron thinking? Obviously he wasn't. And how in the hell does a gun slip down your pants? No holster? Another smart move. Why not just put the thing in his shirt pocket for God's sake. This whole gun thing is getting crazy. I read the other day about the nitwit who went to a town hall meeting carrying a loaded assault rifle. Jesus, what is this world coming to? How about the lady who was bent out of shape that she couldn't take a gun to her 9 yr olds soccer game? I mean, I've known some bad ass 9 yr olds and soccer Moms but none that I was that scared of. Yeah yeah, it's her right blah blah blah. It's also her responsibility to know when and where to have a gun, A freakin soccer game isn't the place.
  4. Favre or no Favre, stop Peterson and game over.
  5. You ask ANY #1WR in this league what you do in that situation and they will tell you if you have to grab the defender and pull him down, you do it to prevent him from catching it. Take the 15 yds. Hester was not shielded, he saw the ball in flight, he should know better. I am not exonerating Cutler from throwing it there but our WRs just seem so inept at times when it comes to instinct type plays like this one.
  6. I wonder if he'll be able to predict how quickly his job security will go away if we see the same shit we've been seeing the last 2 years. Still, you have to wait until the regular season games to get all bent out of joint if we aren't playing well so I'll wait. I'll wait until GB torches our asses week 1 to start my yearly bye-bye Lovie routine. Hey, who knows, maybe they really are playing vanilla and Marinelli and Lovie don't want to show the new look d line. Or, maybe we just suck again. We'll see.
  7. Sure he'll make us remember Grossman. Every time I look at my wife, I remember the girlfriend that let me get away and thank my lucky stars for what I got.
  8. Near interceptions? Wow, there's a powerful stat! Can you imagine the things we can learn about a QB now that we know what their near INT ratio is? Me neither. One question though, what constitutes a near INT? who makes the call whether it's a near INT or near drop or near almost caught or near whatever and just what are their credentials? I'll bet Lovie is glad they're writiing about Cutler as opposed to the underachieving and underperforming defense he's trotted out there the last 2 years. I didn't read the stat that Cutler was 13-1 when his defense holds a team to under 21 points. Guess he left that one off.
  9. Hub's had a hard on for the Bears ever since he was whacked from the radio job. I wouldn't pay too much attention to anything these guys say.

Good post. I agree, a 10-6 record would have gotten this team to the playoffs but then what? I think Angelo has done everything we could ask of him (Of course, not phucking up so many 1st rounders would have certainly endeared him to me alot more, but...) in moving this team in the right direction. The 64,000.00 question is, what happens if we lay an egg. 8-8 or 9-7 without a playoff appearance? What does he do then? Everyone knows my feeling about lovie Smith but just to reiterate, if we were to go 8-8 or 9-7 and no playoffs, my hope is they would launch him but this time, bring in an offensive minded HC that can relate to Cutler (psssst...Shanahan). This organization has improved it's talent this off season. There is simply no excuse for not winning. I don't care about the real or perceived WR deficiencies, this offense has gotten significantly better and we did what we did with orton at QB. I expect a winner. Not neccesarily a SB, but a winner and strong playoff showing.
  11. I think that the real difference between the 85 Bears team, the 76 Steelers and the 2000 Ravens was the domination factor. When the Bears beat you, they dominated you. When the Bears went to the SB in 1985, I don't believe anyone in the world thought NE stood a chinaman's chance in hell. It was a bloodbath from start to finish. That was the only year I can ever remember where, it would not have mattered who they would have put in front of the Bears, they were going to get their heads kicked in. They gave up 10 pts in the playoffs that year. The way they dominated the Rams and Giants in the playoffs was incredible. Back to back shutouts? Now, when you look at the Ravens and the Steelers, there was some doubt as to whether or not those guys were good enough to beat their opponents. Maybe the league was just more competitive those years but I would dare anyone to find a team that they thought would beat the Bears in the SB that year. I know I'm gonna hear Miami but I will tell you this, the Bears might even have beaten Miami worse than they beat NE because of what happened on that monday night earlier that season. I think Buddy and Ditka would have had that team in a feeding frenzy.
  12. I agree as well. if it were a simple question, should athletes speak out? That's one thing and I'm not even sure that belongs here.
  13. Yes but if you lead the league in scoring defense and are at the top of the heap in turnovers created, you are probably not giving up 35 points a game. If you look at the comments of many, they are mad because the defense is something it is not meant to be. As long as people know that, its cool if you disagree on what type of defense to run. Just dont get mad when we are not stonewalling team yard-wise. You make it sound as if it's just a matter of people liking or disliking the scheme. You are right about one thing, people are mad because this defense IS something it's NOT meant to be, it's unsuccessful. I don't think anyone on this board cares one way or another whether we run, a 4-3, 3-4, 46, Cover 2, what ever as long as it's successful. For the last 2 years it HAS NOT worked, they have failed. The objective of any and every defense in the NFL is the same, stop the other team from scoring. The better you do that, the more games you will win. Hey, Lovie Smith has everything a HC could ask for, he has his original DC choice onboard, he's got better than average defensive talent, he now has a franchise QB, a very good to hopefully great RB, a healthy back up RB in Jones, a revamped o line. He's building on a 9-7 record. All he has to do is win. If he wins, he's the man. If he can't win, we need to find someone who can. It's not like he hasn't been given a fair chance.
  14. I suspect, based on the cooments in this article that Cutler himself might not be too keen on having Marshall in Chicago. http://profootball.scout.com/2/872248.html Former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler realized that Marshall's immaturity was a big problem for the team last year, sharing his candid thoughts with the media after the receiver sustained a very serious cut that severed tendons in his arm. Marshall claimed that he had fallen into a television set while fooling around with his brother, an incident that he referenced as a wake-up call. "He's had many wakeup calls," Cutler said last April. "I mean, he's been in [head coach Mike] Shanahan's office many times. I've been up there with him. He said the same thing, 'this is a wakeup call, this is the last thing that's going to happen. Blah blah blah.' I mean, until he goes out and proves it, we'll see what happens." While Cutler didn't particularly think that Marshall was a bad person, "It's just
  15. One other point that needs to be made. Good, bad or indifferent, Lovie Smith is responsible for peoples perception of him. Maybe if he'd do some things different, people would view him differently. If it doesn't matter to him, it surely won't matter to me.
  16. I used Ditka's stats because he represented what most fans, Bears and other teams fans think a winner is. That time was great but that was 24 years ago. Ancient phuckin history. On to Rivera, there are many in the Chicago media that agree that the reason Rivera got let go was because he was at odds that game with Smith about that very point. You miss it again. Lovie doesn't believe his defense needs tweaking. Now, I don't think he's the 20th ranked coach either, I think he's somewhere between 11-15. That said, he's the 5th high paid HC. I want him to perform accordingly. Don't you?
  17. Whoa, 4 postseason appearances in 5 yrs sounds pretty misleading. It's 2 playoffs appearances in 5 years but I get what your saying. If the sole reason for us missing the playoffs the last 2 years was solely based on the QB that would be one thing. The real culprit here is our defense. That's why the media doesn't give this guy any slack. He's a defensive coach who took a team that went to the SB with Rivera as DC, he let him leave town so he could promote Babich to the DC position. We ALL know babich sucked and it was pretty obvious from the beginning he was in over his head. Did Lovie do what he did the first season to Terry Shea and launch him? Hell no, he let him have another whack at it and what did he do? He puked all over the table with an even worse display last year. Did Lovie whack him then? Hell no. He just decided to take the defense himself, let his buddy keep a title he clearly doesn't deserve and all is square. Guys like you want to pound on the roster. Why the hell should the 2007 roster have gone 2-14? That's insane. That SAME team was 13-3 and just in a SB for Christ sake. . That team should have been 12-4 but because of the COLLECTIVE decision to launch jones for benson and the complete demise of our defense with Bubba Gump Babich as DC, we stunk. That lays at Lovie's feet.
  18. I don't give a shit about Ditka, 1985, 1963 or anything else but the PRESENT. If you are happy NOT going to the playoffs and going 9-7 every year, that's fine. I'm NOT. I think the truth is, sooner or later even YOU might tire of 9-7 and no playoffs. One other thing though, as long as you mentioned Ditka. HIS record with the Bears was a W/L of .631, playoffs 7 out of 11 yrs, 3 NFC championship games and 1 SB win. This just illustrates, it CAN be done. Now, as to your comment about the Cover 2 being the only thing Lovie knows how to coach, well, he had a pretty damn good DC who knew apparently the right way to tweak this defense to make it dominant, something we haven't been since Rivera was let go but if Lovie Smith can't bring himself to adapt to the changes in todays NFL, he can be a cover 2 coach all the way to the unemployment line for all I care.
  19. People see what they see. He's got alot to prove and disprove. There have been some pretty questionable decisions especially the Rivera decision that set this team back a ways. But there is good news, we have a franchise QB we've always wanted, we have a very good RB, an improved o line, we have 2 of the fastest guys in the league at WR with Hester and Knox (provided this coaching staff decides to play a rookie) as well as Clark and Olsen at TE. Defensively we have Marinelli, who for all intents and purposes will be co HC and DC. If, as Lovie believes, the defensive scheme is sound, then the best Tampa Two line guy in the business will fix it. Lovie can put all that negative shit to rest by winning. For me it's simple, win and you can be a Bear HC for life or at least for the forseeable future. Lose and you will need to find another city to call home.
  20. This guy has nothing at all to apologize for and I'll take it a step further and say noone had anything bad to say about him until we traded for him. Of course noone will say shit about that new HC McDaniels who screwed this up to begin with by inquiring about Cassell and then reiterating to Cutler that he was HC and would do whatever he sees fit to win, including trading Cutler. Now, while that may well be within his power to do, why has''t anyone really come out and said "What the phuck is this guy doing talking about a 1 yr wonder when you have a pro bowl QB with Cutler's credentials and abilities? I said on another board that if I were Cutler and had that conversation with McDaniels, my impression would be this guy has an ego larger than life and for a 32 yr old first time HC, he's just made a mess of things. I'd want out too. Hey, I was one of the guys who questioned Cutler wanting out and didn't want us bringing in Cutler because of the price tag but in the end, the reality is, what have we really lost given our last 8-10 1st rd picks? Tony Dungy is a fine human being and has done some very good things on AND OFF the football field but his priorities are a bit phucked up. I know he wants things to work out for Michael Vick and I am sure I don't know about many of the people he has helped in his lifetime but I find myself asking if Vick were white, would he be as exhuberant about it? Would he even bother? One other thing that bothers me is he said in a interview with Waddle and Silvy the other day and it referenced on another board that between Buress and Vick, he felt Buress was worse because of the fact that he's had a couple run ins with the law. You mean tio tell me that because Buress carried a gun, and has had some run ins with the law that THAT is worse than the years Vick spent torturing and killing dogs on a property he had designed specifically to carry that out? Great call Tony. Now, go phuck yourself.
  21. Hey, there have been alot of guys who didn't sign autographs in Chicago. I've heard plenty of stories about Michael jordan refusing over the years at celebrity functions like golf tournaments. Who cares? If the Bears want the guy to spend his life signing autographs, fine, set it up for a time and place. I don't blame him for not wanting to be bothered at a Cub game although what the hell he was doing at a cubs game is a bit odd since there is a professional team he can watch on the other side of town whose fans are a bit more respectable.
  22. He only deserves it if he earns it. He'll earn it by doing more of what he did in 2006 and 2007, running up field and less of what he did last year, running to the sideline. He has the talent so whatever he is lacking is in his head.
  23. One other thing about Calvin Johnson, look at who was throwing him the ball. Hell, I can't even tell ya the QBs name. He is definitely a force.
  24. Your last line reads...There is a reason why his nickname in college was "Anytime" because he can score anytime he touches the ball. Anytime except all of 2008. Personally, they should have left Hester at returns. He ran with reckless abandon, something EVERY great return man does. Once he got that contract he started putting pressure on himself to become the next Jerry Rice. He started looking for the sidelines on his returns. In preseason as a KR, he was just awful. He's been trying for 2-3 years to learn the position. I'm not sure he will ever be a true #1 but now that Cutler is here and can make the deep throw better than anyone we've had, maybe Hester will get it done. We'll see what happens but if he doesn't do it this year, he probably never will.
  25. I've reread all the posts above. Did Babich NOT lose his job??????? Aside from making the assertion that Lovie Smith is NOT the answer, what is your problem with what I posted? I don't care whether you agree with me or not but don't sit there as if YOU have all the answers. You can kiss Lovie's ass all you want. My opinion of him is that he is NOT the HC we need. Now, at what point do YOU realize, it's my opinion and i'm entitled to it. You can agree or disagree but if you want to start with the old, you don't know what your talking about bullshit, you can save yourself the agrravation and me the time of simply saying freak you by ignoring my posts.
