  1. Funny, there isn't more about him out there. I was looking for some highlights but very tough to come by.
  2. My my my, how could we forget about Johnny Morris? From 62-65, he was incredible for that time period and Flanker is considered a receiver, it's just now called slot. But since the question was the best I've seen, he was the best I've seen in person. He certainly belongs up there with any of the guys you've mentioned. I'll bet he holds up against any receiver the Bears had.
  3. Just because the Bears have NEVER fired a coach in season doesn't mean they won't. To "boldly" assert they NEVER will would be ridiculous. They just did something noone EVER thought they'd do by trading the farm for Cutler so never is an awful long time. Now, I'm not saying this team will be that bad but if it were, it would be because of coaching, not talent and as far as the money, that's a tired old line much like "the Bears are cheap". There are 4 coaches out there, three that most teams would love to have in Holmgren, Shanahan and Cowher. If it cost me a few million to secure one of these guys rather than compete with every team that will be firing their coaches AFTER the season so be it. If nothing else, this off season should teach you never to say never.
  4. Write it down. If this team bombs early and are out of the hunt by mid season he's gone in season. Just write it down.
  5. We went 9-7 last year playing a tougher schedule than we'll face this year. We have upgraded our lines and our QB position. With the coaches that are out there and available who have WON SBs, Cowher, Gruden, Holmgren, Shanahan, THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ERROR. No, Lovie will not be given a pass and I'll take it so far as to say if we flounder early, we could shitcan Lovie before week 8.
  6. We may not have a choice but to go with what we have and maybe that won't be such a bad thing. I think we'll know pretty damn quick whether our shortcomings at WR were overstated or real. I don't have to win a SB this year. Next year's just fine with me.
  7. Ya know what? As long as he doesn't bring his gun to practice or a game, sign him. I'm sick and tired of hearing about one guy or another's character defects. Hell, nobody really cares. The NFL doesn't, ex players don't, coaches don't, teammates don't, fans don't. I'm beginning to believe that every player in this league whose any good has some skeletons in their closets or they just have better PR efforts going on. Cold as it might sound, I don't care about ANY players today, that went away long ago when they started treating this game as a business. Now it is a business to me as well. I'm a fan who is in the business of wanting their team to win. I don't care whether we have alter boys or sinners. I ONLY care whether they show up ready to compete on Sunday. Maybe a little tongue in cheek but not too much.
  8. Maybe a different view but now there is absolutely positively ZERO excuse for Lovie not to win. If they don't make the playoffs at a minimum, Lovie Smith should be fired along with all his non producing assistants. There are coaches out there looking for work or at least available who have won SBs. It is much too important of a window of opportunity to let it slip away. PAY PHUCKING ATTENTION JERRY!!!!! You've done well this off-season, don't let that work go for nothing. No shame in letting a coach go early if they aren't performing and that window will be closing quickly.
  9. I just became a Denver Bronco fan. I hope Orton tears it up over there. I'd love to see him succeed.
  10. Everybody won. That is, assuming Cutler continues where he left off and even improves. We got our franchise QB, Denver got some much needed draft picks with which to rebuild their football team, Cutler got out of a situation that he found simply unacceptable and did not trust the HC so all in all, everybody won. I was NOT a big proponent of giving up that much for Cutler but let's face it, if we hadn't nabbed him, Detroit or Minnesota would have. Angelo made the move as much for self preservation as he did to give this team a much needed boost. And NOBODY is going to blame him if Cutler does not perform either. No, that will be on lovie and Turner. It will be their heads that roll if Cutler lays an egg. So who knows, maybe we win again by Lovie and Turner getting launched. Right now, I'll enjoy the prospect of having a franchise QB and live in the comfort that no matter what, at a minimum, he is better than what we had. That in and of itself might be enough to get us to postseason.

    Weird idea

Agreed. I'm in the minority who think the problem with Urlacher is the system. Ray Lewis isn't going to fare ANY better in this system. As a matter of fact, I'd argue that it would taint his final years as a player to play in this defense. Personally, I liked the idea of trading Urlacher to AZ for Boldin even though that would never happen but I think we're just wasting Urlacher here.
  12. NO, we don't. This football team desparately NEEDS a pass rush. WR is not gonna happen rd 1. This football team needs to build it's lines before they worry about anything else. As I said, I would be happy with OT with the first but don't kid yourself, our lines need fixing first and foremost.
  13. I would be happy with Oher at 18 but I gotta tell ya, watching Michael Johnson on film at the combine makes me think about 6'7" 270 lbs being alot to pass up if he's there. If we believe all the NFL know it alls, we now have the best D line coach in the game, with this guys size and Marinelli's bra.. ya know what? Nevermind, I just like him at 18.
  14. I don't believe that Angelo and Smith have the luxury of thinking long term for a WR. They need help next year to save their jobs. Besides, this coaching staff has not proven capable of developing a young WR so we need a proven commodity who can help us the next 1-2 years and if we get someone like a Bennett who miraculously sees the field and actually produces, that's just a bonus. Davis will be a solid ST player but I can't see him doing anything at the WR position. Besides, I sincerely hope that Turner will make a 2 TE set a staple of this offense and MAYBE evn look at a 3 TE set. I think we have the personnel to make it work. BTW, I'm also a offensive and defensive line guy. I want us solid there ASAP. We need a big name RT and DE. Those guys need to come from FA. The good news is, I think JA knows he's on the clock as does Smith and they know that they need a stellar off season.
  15. I think we've seen enough of Booker to know he simply doesn't have anything of value left. It's time we move on. With regards to Lloyd, I think based on what I saw when he played, he fared well. He had an opportunity here to actually be the #1 WR based on Booker, Davis and Hester's production but his injury and subsequent idiotic ramblings about not playing till he was 100% healed basically took him right out of the running. Now, does that mean he would be our #1 if we kept him? Absolutely not but, if somebody could bash some sense into him and let him know that the pathway leading from his thoughts to his mouth needs to be repaved and at the very least, traveled carefully, he could definitely be a good #2 WR with upside.
  16. Excellent point. Frankly, instead of wasting our time thinking about guys like Furrey, we should be thinking about ways to secure the "TOP" talent out there. Guys like Furrey aren't "difference makers". Basically, they are leftovers and we've got all the leftover WRs we can use right now. We think we're gonna catch lightning in a bottle here? Come on, our coaches don't develop players and if Furrey got cut by Detroit, what do we think we're gonna get out of him? Forget this stuff. Let's get onto the business of securing a premier WR, whatever the cost. If Hester ever gets it, THAT is our lightning in a bottle.
  17. That is way too much to give up for Boldin. He's worth a first round pick and that's it. If we can't get it done for that, go elsewhere. Hell, trade Urlacher for him. I think he'd be a welcome addition to that defense and since we're married to Lovie's Tampon two, we won't utilize his skills properly unless we change our scheme so he's just alot of talent wasted. It's time for the face of this franchise to change anyway.
  18. If he wants to come in and give it a go, let him. I surely think finding a YOUNG premier DE is top priority.
  19. Ya know, I keep hearing an awful lot about cap hits as a reason why we can't cut somebody. First of all, this is NOT monopoly money here, it's real. To think that this organization would keep somebody whose clearly nowhere near the numbers on their contract would be to depressing to even imagine. So they take a cap hit, so what. You'd rather pay a bum 5M for nothing so you could hopefully reduce your cap hit at some later date? Even I won't believe the Bears are that damn stupid. P H U C K T H E C A P!!!! Rework his deal or cut the son of a bitch. It's just another mistake by a GM who is surely on his way out of town unless he rights this ship very quickly. And now that Lovie has opened his mouth about manning the defense, he's gonna make damn sure that we have the best guys out there because now he's on the hotseat. His statement about Marinelli making this line dominant again better be right. But back to vasher, he's clearly way overpaid and that needs to be rectified, if not, show the balls, cut him and move the phuck on. You wanna be like Pittsburgh, damnit, act like Pittsburgh.
  20. I certainly never would want to compare Moose to TJ however, before we do this again, we really NEED to understand what is happening with our passing game because you can't turn your back on the fact that Moose went back to Car and gets over 900 yds. You just can't. We need to know why these guys are having such a hard time in the passing game. We gotta stop guessing or we're just going to continue to waste money on WR talent that will never go anywhere. Now,are the routes different here than anywhere else? If they are, what are the differences and are THEY causing the decline? Is our offensive too complex? I've heard that thrown out there before that there is an awful lot to our playbook for an offense that basically stinks. Is it just that Orton or whoever is playing QB has to get rid of it too quickly and the receivers are just late in getting to their spots ? Whatever it is, we should know by now. There shouldn't be anymore guessing going on but it appears that now Angelo wants to hang it on the QB. Could it be he's covering his ass for such a shitty drafting of o linemen and our WR situation? Of course that's probably part of it but again I ask, why on earth couldn't a 3rd rd pick see the field at all? There is absolutely positively NO EXCUSE for that and I blame every coach on this offensive staff and Lovie Smith for that. It was Lovie who first declared Bradley as our #1 WR. Of course, that was before we released him but what on earth would possess a HC to make a statement like that without some kind of validation in terms of past performance or some tangible reason? Then it was Hester is on his way to being #1 WR. Well that obviously didn't happen. I don't know, maybe we just expect too much outta these coaches. Are we being unreasonable for wanting a WR corp who can run the route, shed the CB, catch the pass on a moderately consistent basis? It just seems to me that after about 25 yrs of crappy offenses, somebody, somewhere in this collective turd pool we call an NFL franchise would say enough is enough. We are going to know exactly why we're failing and By God, we're gonna fix it. Look, all I know is, somebody has to get smart here. We cannot continue to fail offensively the way we have. There MUST be some improvement either in the scheme or the players performance
  21. There is an issue here that continues to rear it's ugly head. Talented athletes who just do not seem to develop. All pro receivers who come here and while they don't die, they acquire a virus that turns then into brick handed goofballs and malcontents who throw their QBs under the bus. Look, I hated Muhammed but you only have to look at his production and see he went from 1400+ in Car to 700+ in Chicago. Then he leaves and his first yr back there he gets 900+ yds. Look at Gage, damn near caught for as much yds in his yrs at Chicago in yr 1 at TN. There is a definite pattern here and that pattern begins with the coaches. I personally think the image they are trying to project is a result of bygone historical data that tells them that the Bears should be a running team. Unfortunately, our o line stinks at run blocking so how can you be a running team? Go out and get some phuckin road graters and then develop a PROPER running scheme, then maybe people will believe you get off the bus running instead of getting off the bus failing. Get the offensive line fixed and THIS football team will be worlds better. Then you open up the passing game and guys, there's alot of opportunity in our 3 TEs and I'd like to see a 3 TE set with Hester in the slot, who knows, maybe Riddeau AND Bennett can see the field and make a contribution. Spending money on a WR right now would be senseless unless we address this offensive line.
  22. Of course there's a disconnect between Angelo and the coaches. How else could you possibly explain Bennett not seeing the field this year? Fellas, somebody is sending somebody MAJOR messages here. Bennett was a 3rd rd pick, wasn't injured and our WR corps SUCKED. There is not one legitimate reason for him to be sitting when we were so starved for production at that position. If I was Angelo, I would have demanded that Bennett see the field and I would have had Smith AND Turner in my office drafting plays for the guy to make sure, but by God he would have seen that field. Obviuosly, this is only one example but look at the guys that have gone elsewhere and done better than anybody we have, like Justin Gage. In his first yr at TN he damn near caught for more yardage than his first yr than he had his first 3 combined here. Yeah, I know Angelo likes smokescreens but I do believe that these guys are on different pages. To me, each of them is trying to protect their territory and position. Smith made that dumshit comment about Marinelli making this line dominant without a new DE. Angelo and his brilliant, "it all starts with the QB" statement. Hey Jerry, you've been here how long and you wait till now to say it all begins with the QB? Sure it does and THAT QB will be successful if he has better line performance and better WR performance than we did. I agree with NFO, our run blocking sucked and our pass blocking was only helped by going no huddle and short routes that were working early. So, before you give orton his walking papers, give him a good line and WRs who can actually run routes and catch the phuckin ball. To all you naysayers out there who believe the bears are gonna stand Pat with this crew because of their contracts. You will be pleasantly surprised if the Bears don't win this year and go to the playoffs, THIS coaching staff will be gone. Now, for Jerry Angelo, the key will be his first pick. It better be the right one because I believe that might be the only thing that saves him from the woodchipper. The honeymoon is over at Halas Hall folks.
  23. In the past, I would say NO, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER to Owens. He is a cancer and will bring this team down. Down to where though? Is HE any worse a cancer than the one that's been eating away at this team the last couple years? I mean, look at this piss poor coaching staff. Look at Bob FREAKIN Babitch. Just because he smiles while his phucking up and is Lovies BFF is HE any less a cancer to this team and to our fans? Come on, how many players that didn't see the field alot or jst didn't get alot of PT have left the Bears only to excel elsewhere? More important, can anyone name 1 player that has truly been developed by this bunch? We see Justin Gage go to Tenn after spending 4 yrs here and catching passes totaling 900 yds. IN 4 YRS! He goes to Tennessee and was hurt 4 games this year and still puts up over 1400 yds in 2 yrs. He never had better than 340 in Chicago and his 1st yr with an idiot throwing him the ball in Tenn he gets 750 yds. Guys, we got cancer either way. What's the difference if it comes in the form of coaches or players? I'm not saying yes to Owens but I am saying think about it.
