  1. Neither of the recivers mentioned are burners, both are possession type of recievers, I will stick with what we got, DA it was a fluke but he I feel he will rebound still to early to tell. But injury concerns on Bolden and I fell there is more to the TJ release then is being put out.
  2. well if it is a concussion depending on the degree, he may have to sit out the season, I hope he is ok, after hearing what that kid did in somewhere in NE kinda makes ya think.
  3. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2010/09/ma...issues_fro.html Martz addresses key issues from Lions game By Neil Hayeson September 13, 2010 8:42 PM | Permalink | Comments (4) | TrackBacks (0) Mike Martz and Lovie Smith don't know what all the fuss is about when it comes to Calvin Johnson's touchdown catch that wasn't a touchdown catch. The Bears coach and offensive coordinator appeared on WBBM's (AM 780) "Bears Insider" Show on Monday night and said there was never any doubt in their minds that Johnson's leaping catch with 25 seconds left in Sunday's 19-14 win over the Lions was not a catch. "That rule has been in effect for quite some time," Martz told host Jeff Joniak. "It's the only way for an official to evaluate a catch or not. Otherwise, it's just shades of gray -- did he catch or did he not catch It? It's impossible to officiate a game without a clear-cut rule like that. And that rule is not going to change." "Cut and dried," Smith interjected. "The officials were in agreement right away. Everybody who really counts and knows what's going on were in agreement." The Bears failure to score on four straight plays from the Lions' 1-yard line midway through the fourth quarter drew loud boos from the Soldier Field crowd. It wasn't the first time it happened in the game, either. The Bears had a third-and-goal from the 1 on their first drive and Forte ended up losing a yard. Robbie Gould kicked a 20-yard field goal. "It was just execution and preparation," Martz said of the failure. "They were a little bit different on the goal line in what they did by structure and we should've from a coaching standpoint spent more time going over if-they-did-this-we-do-that kind of thing. They did a nice job down there. We just didn't execute some things that we could've and should've. We have to clean that up and we will. "That leaves a bad taste in your mouth no matter what happens. When you get down to the 1-yard line you want to be able to punch that thing in." Martz said the idea is to do for Matt Forte what he did for Marshall Faulk when he was coaching the Rams, and that means using him as a receiver as much as a running back, which is what Forte did on Sunday when he had seven catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns, including a twisting, 28-yard game-winner with 1:32 left. "I don't think there's any question about it. Matt as a receiver is very unique, his ability to change direction and adjust to defenders. We can all see his speed. He's a very difficult guy for guys to match up [with]. I don't care if its a safety or linebacker. We can put him out there against a corner and he'll do well. Martz was also asked whether calling Cutler out as often as he did was planned or whether the result of an in-game adjustment. Martz said it "just kind of came out that way." The one thing he wanted to do against the Lions was run lots of screen passes, which he did with great success. Forte's 89-yard catch and run came on a screen. "You're obviously very excited with a win and happy with it and then reality sets in and you look at the details and there's always things to fix and complain about," Martz said. "All in all the effort was outstanding. We were a little nervous in the very beginning. We weren't real sure of ourselves and then we settled in." Martz said he thought the offensive line, which allowed four sacks and seven quarterback hits, improved as the game went on. "There are some things we have to clean up, obviously," he said. "We have to protect the football. You're not going to win games like that turning the ball over the way we did." Smith was as optimistic as ever, saying the positives outweighed the negatives after an uneven performance. "Look at all the weapons we have," he said. "Just think about when we tighten up a few things how good we could be."
  4. I never said some of the blame is not his. But most goes on the players. Totaly agree, but if they made the TD on the goaline would it be the same talk then? Have to agree, Maranelli called the prevent and went back to cover 2, But it was Manning who blew the coverage and should have been there instead Bowman had to single cover, wrong move and outa position on manning. Read above bro I doint doubt that LS made mistakes in calls. But I have to look at what the offense did during the game (outside of Fumbles) They moved the ball well. So good infact that QB had 108.3 qb rating. The biggest thing that worried all of us here was the O line play and the D. Both played realy well until the final drive. Most coaches will adjust for the next game. Lets see what happens on the turnovers and play calling on D. If bno0th are improved then we know that Lovie is adapting, If not then ILl jump on the bandwagon with you all, But until then lets support them and hope for a win in Dallas.
  5. Being called Delusional is a name, However lets drop that part. Your stating that People being paid millions dont practice fundementals during OTA"S and mini Camps. Get off the shroom diet dude. With a 12 month training program that is now the norm, they have to work on fundementals. But maybe they slacked due to learning a new system. Either way it goes your distain for Smith is evident in your writing, We will see who eats crow this year, If me I know Ill eat it, but you I doubt, I doubt that you would change your mind even if they go to the superbowl this year.
  6. I saw that Flea, Schaffer was Playing left tackle late in the game. I have no idea if it was result of scheme or Williams was pulled, But nobody is reporting it.
  7. By the way do you constantly rant and call people names when they dont agree with you? These players are paid millions and to put blame on coach for professional attitudes is absurd. If this were college those things would hold true, But its pro. I know for fact if I was paid like them I would Preform to utmost ability. Why I dont buy the discipline thing, They have every reason to preform but for whatever reason did not prefom well. It was not horrible as some would say. But overall a win is win.
  8. How is it the Coaching staff, Did Lovie drop the endzone pass? no it comes down to one thing and one thing only, Players have to play. Coaching staff can teach but players need to apply. One if the Bears scored on that dropped pass by DA it would 26 points on the board and if the line would have pushed a hole on the goaline it woulda been 33 points. Coaches in the Pros can do so much. The D came up big the whole game. The backs were excellant , Cutler was Better then good, Line play and reciever drops along with fumbles hurt this teams ability to score. There is noway on God's green earth anyone can tell me that this was Lovies fault or Angelos. The real deal is most you been calling for Lovies head since the year after the Super bowl. His record is better then any coach for chicago since Halas. Just because he failed in the past does not mean he will fail in the future. Maybe he can change tactics, I seen the corners press today like never before in a Lovie D. They have went away from deep corner play and resembles when Chico was here. For one game the ridicule has nothing to do with Bears Win or play, It has everything to do with People hating on the guy that took this team to Superbowl. Granted we lost, but he still took us there. You dont have like his ways but give him a chance to prove the nay sayers wrong.
  9. Third Down Efficiency 6/14 - 42% Total Net Yards 463 Total Rushing/Passing Plays (includes Sacks) 70 Average Gain per Offensive Play 6.6 Net Yards Rushing 101 Rushing Plays 31 Gain per Rushing Play 3.3 this is much much better then Turners offense
  10. Sorry bigman, the rule has been in place for 7 years, Mike herra(sp) the former head official called it before the booth did, It was a non catch. Period
  11. Give it a chance. The biggest concern outside the OL was the defense and they played lights out, Lets see if this leopard did change his spots.
  12. would been 2 scores if DA hung on that ball, It was perfect and he blew it. But they still won it.
  13. I dont support but they are leading the Bears right now and I hope for a change, Martz signing gave me hope that Lovies offfensive system was scrapped. With that I give them this year and next, when lovies contract runs out with martz's they will either keep martz and dump Lovie or resign them all. One thing any GM and Pres know of team, that if they putting up 400 yards game offense you dont change the system. And thats where we are at. Complain all you want but the reality is that Lovie will see the end of contract and Cutler is hoping that martz sticks no matter what.
  14. Sorry I dont buy it, It is directly on the players, Plus many were freakish, And if we lost I may agree with ya, But as of right now we are 1-0. Fumbles will take care themselves.
  15. Mongo tape the safety on the weapon before you handle it, We won!!! Yep sure did , The sky is clearing and the dark cloud that is over all Chicago fans is dispersing. Holy Crap the Anti lovie/Angelo band wagon is full. Let this play out before you crucify anyone.
  16. My word you think the Bears lost!!! They did not loose, Line play was better then I thought it would be, Defense was awsome, And we have a OC that can call a game, Now if the fumbles are blamed on Angelo and lovie, then get rid of them both But to me it was first game freakish things that happened. Nothing more or less.
  17. I knew there would be some problems in the first game, But did I see 76 schaffer starting at left tackle in the second half? I think Williams was pulled.
  18. there never is a guarntee. the year the bears went and won the superbowl the headlines of chicago papers you thought with Al Harris and todd Bell sitting out the season it was over. Guess they fooled them. They went 1-3 in the preseason and then go 16-1 the remainder of the season. No Guarnatee and Pro bowls came after the season , how many did we have prior ? I dont know , but the same with the Rams, Before the GSOT even came to be, the ony Probowler I remember was Faulk. Everyone else was just new or a has been. Winning breeds pro bowls, and before Martz arrived in STL, the Rams were sorry. Plain ole sorry. Even thier Americas game stated same ole Rams.
  19. It will happen if Halas hall has benn lieing about the blocking scheme, They stated they made no calls to test out the line on individual play not schemes. So saying that I think you might see a different offense then the one that in preseason. But only tommorrow will tell. I figure that Cutler will have a great day and screen passes will dominate a pursuing defence. It was the signature of the Rams whenever they played a team that touted a hefty D against them, Faulk had hay days on them. Hope is that Forte and Taylor will have the same.
  20. I expected this but not really. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ndout-shaw.html
  21. I thought this would happen with the signing of Mike Williams. But I think it would be good add for the bears. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81a3...le=HP_headlines
  22. Sorry I dont get it?
  23. Well no worry there Beekman dropped to third string on guard center he still 2. Late in the game for scrubs anyway. I said the exact samething about the CB's. But then I realized that Iam sure the bears are not showing thier hand quite yet. First game is judging where they are right now in concept. Second game look for tighter coverages and better rushes. Also the Backs had trouble on picking blitzes, and SD blitzed quite a bit, I was surprised to see it. But overall I think The Bears looked good when the starters were in there.
  24. www.justintv.com try that they carried a number of games last year.
