  1. Pure conjecture on your part. The rest of your post is a giant straw man argument. I never once said Webb was anything but shitty. Unfortunately, the Bears didn't have someone better or he would've started. That's my opinion. Your opinion about other options means less to me than that of Lovie's. Despite the fact that he was fired, you've never even been hired. In fact, if there was a list of guys the Bears were considering for personnel jobs with millions and millions of names on the list, you wouldn't be on the list. Get over yourself.
  2. I shot down SCS earlier in this thread so I think it's only fair that I say, IMO, Jason and Bowlingtwig are full of shit on this issue. The actual quote is: The only way someone beats out Webb is if Webb falls on his face in camp. To me that means there's a competition but Pompeii believes Webb has them all bested on talent. Nowhere does Pompeii say Webb is being handed the job. I'd say shorthand for what he's saying is "It's his job to lose because nobody else on the team looks to be better." And that's how I feel Tice and Lovie evaluated the situation too. I don't believe he ever got a job handed to him. I think the former staff looked at the same things Pompeii is seeing and said "He's got what it takes and we need to establish some continuity in the line ASAP so we're going to name him the starter." The failing was not having someone better because Webb sucked donkey balls. But I don't believe for a second that Lovie or Tice thought they had a better answer on the team and ignored it. It isn't logical. But then again, most of the childish arguments here have little logic in them. Carry on ladies.
  3. You're taking the writer's opinion as fact. It's my opinion that the Bears bringing in all of the bodies they did at OL can mean only one thing, they're looking for competition at EVERY spot on the line.

    Camp

We're only about a month away. Does anyone remember when the official schedule typically comes out? I've got some vacation days to use and always like to hit camp at least once. Weekends are nuts.
  5. I couldn't agree with you more there. Constant blitzing is just as ineffective as doing it too little. Modern offenses need to be kept off balance.
  6. LOL! Yeah, they did... Against the entire league! Listen, Lovie had his faults, no question, but with shitty offenses and QB's, historically, his teams won a lot more often than they didn't. Hell, he even got us into a Superbowl with Rex Grossman running the offense! And he was running successful D's before he got to the Bears. It may not have been as aggressive as many, including myself, would've liked. But blitzing guys like Rodgers and Brady ain't going to make matters better.
  7. True. We have like 18 offensive lineman on the roster now, don't we? EDIT: Ha! I actually thought I was guessing high but if you count TE's we've got 19 linemen on the roster right now.
  8. Don't waste your time, dude. I mean, to me it's obvious you can't send out 5 receivers when your QB is getting hit by the snap and the guy lined up across from Webb at almost the same time. Hell, even Webb admitted he sucked! But he's got his biggest apologist on the internet right here on our site. We all hope Webb's grown and improves a lot. We'll see. But to say Forte didn't help the line by being a force in the passing game is just asinine. Give him and Cutler a few seconds to produce and then let's talk.
  9. I think you got this one reversed. Forte has averaged over 50 catches a year in his career and if he wasn't a threat last year just because that number dropped a little it was because the line, and your boy Webb, sucked so back they had to keep extra protection back there most of the time. If you have a line worth a damn you can get your RB's out of the backfield.
  10. At least he's got a great name.
  11. I guess what I'm saying is that even if you're right and the talent pool is better than last year, it still takes time to learn the system, get used to new teammates, etc.
  12. Unfortunately I think them being in the first year of a new scheme is going to mean they'll be out of position a lot, particularly early in the season. I don't think it's going out on a limb to say this defense will be worse than last years. I hope I'm wrong.
  13. According to The Onion the Pats are going to use him as their long snapper. LOL! PS. The Onion is a satire site.
  14. Don't know on either, to be honest. I have no idea what our new offense requires until I see it on the field. Do we need a FB? Do they think they can get something outta Tavaris that other teams have failed thus far to get, just because our HC is a QB guy? Hell if I know...
  15. I'm actually with you on this one Jason. It's not like we're deep with known commodities on the O line at this point. A 6th round pick? I know how it feels when you're in the position of having to clean up someone else's messes, I've been doing it far too often recently in my life. This just feels hasty given everything we already know about the line. I sure hope they're seeing something out there that made them comfortable with this.
  16. LOL. Like I said, take a Midol.
  17. Terry Shea at OC didn't help either! What a horrible bunch.
  18. I won't deny my surly nature. With that said, I've never once got in a pissing match about what position a guy plays. That's like arguing about whether dirt is brown or black. Idiotic. And I even tried to chill things by posting the Ali clip. On and on they went. Get a damn room!
  19. God damn you've become a pain in the ass. Almost of Terra proportions. Take a Midol and STFU.
  20. Nobody said there weren't going to be repercussions. He'll have court costs, a large fine, may be suspended by the league and he could still lose his job. Those are the same very real repercussions any one of us would face in the same circumstances. I'm only arguing that he shouldn't be treated differently than the rest of us. And we can't just cut everyone who ever ran afoul of the law. Want to cut Briggs too? In the case of comparing this to OJ, we saw a trial and all the evidence and it was pretty clear to me that he was guilty but the jury was essentially tricked into acquitting him. Rodriguez wasn't even charge much less brought to court. It isn't even the same ballpark. Look, I don't want scumbags on the Bears either. And if this guy is one of those I'll be 100% for cutting his ass ASAP. I just haven't seen enough yet to be his judge, jury and executioner. But more power to you...
  21. Couldn't agree more with you about his draft. At this point it's too early to tell and I hope they all develop but it ain't looking too good right now. As for being arrested that first time, the charges were dropped and he was fully exonerated. I don't care if you like it or not but he's innocent until proven otherwise.
  22. His momma named him Clay, I'm going to call him Clay...
