I think he's done moreso because nobody will want him than because he'll gracefully retire.

Vikings claim WR Juaquin Iglesias off of Bears Practice Squad
CrackerDog replied to balta1701-A's topic in Bearstalk
Vikings fans call him "Cindy" Rice because he gets hurt when the wind blows on him the wrong way. If the Bears consider going after him I hope they evaluate that aspect and get comfortable he'll be healthy for us before they give him big money. As to JA, his abilities in the later rounds have very clearly helped him overcome his shortfalls in the early part of the draft. My biggest problem with JA these days is his arrogance in ignoring obvious problems at OL for years and years. -
Yes, based on what folks who live in Appleton have told me over the years, the guy is a serial cheater. He wouldn't need any response from her to go into full out stupid mode. She's a bimbo but that doesn't give him the right to send her pictures of his cock. I don't think this is over by a long shot. The league keeps hoping it goes away and maybe Favre will cut her a check so it does... Favre has a huge ego. He's never spoken a sentence that didn't include the word "I" in it. Why are you taking his side in this?
-
And you know this how? He didn't cooperate and didn't answer any questions. He's guilty.
-
It's crazy on how many of these there isn't anyone close to him at the end of the run. Also, the missed FG return against the Giants and the one in the Superbowl aren't in the clips because they don't officially count toward the record. Too bad the Bears organization messed with his head for two years or he'd have 28 by now.

It isn't explicitely a requirement in football (as you correctly state it is in Baseball) but there's a voting process and each individual has their own criteria. If 80% agree with Flea, on the first ballot, Burt Favor, or whatever her name is, will get in. If they agree with me, that this stuff (and this isn't the only example) is a stain on his career, he won't. Nobody has to explain their ballots. I personally think this kind of thing matters. If I had a vote, I wouldn't cast it for Favre on the first ballot.
-
I'd play it like any other game. Teams get rusty sitting around for three weeks and this offense is just starting to gel. Further, players always seem to get hurt more when they aren't going all out. Walter played in attack mode 100% of the time and he always claimed it kept him healthier. I believe it. Go for the jugular. It's the ferkin' Packers!

AKA: Stonewalling I hope those having HOF votes in the future see this for exactly what it is. Favre is a goddamn liar. What's the difference between what Favre did and what Sosa did during the congressional hearings on steroids when he basically pretended not to be able to speak English? Sosa may never get into the HOF because he's tainted. I'm not saying Favre deserves to never get in. He didn't take performance enhancing drugs. But this should spoil his bid for getting in on his first ballot, IMO. Integrity of the game is a term tossed around a lot by the Commission. What the HELL is this? As an aside, $50k is an insult as a fine in this case. Most "regular guys", which Favre pretends to be, lose their jobs over sexual harassment. Imagine if you or I sent pictures of our dicks to a secretary at our company! He should've been suspended until he cooperated with the investigation and if that meant his career ended in October because of this, so be it. If the Commissioner believed he wasn't being completely forthcoming, which he obviously did, he should've acted. He's never been shy about fining lesser known linebackers for helmet to helmet shots on precious quarterbacks but he lost his balls when it came to Favre due to his status.

No question, we've been very lucky as to injuries, both on our team as well as the teams we've faced.

1. Packers 2. Instant Replay (explained more below) 3. Burt Favor (or whatever her name is) 4. Obvious Bear-hate from all national sports commentators 5. Vikings Fans On Replay... Why can't a coach throw his challenge flag in the last two minutes? It could be the most critical call of the damn game and the booth could be slow to act! Further, the challenge process depends so much on TV coverage that the away teams aren't usually getting the same opportunities to see a play and potentially challenge as the home team. Lastly, I certainly don't want more challenges but if the refs are so poor you need to challenge a 4th time and you've been right all the other times, why not?

I agree. I expect them to drag it into the season next year unless the Bears go further than expected in the playoffs or what you said.

Apples and oranges when comparing Jauron and Smith. And unfair on almost every count. The only similarity is they're both nice guys. That's it. Smith took this team to the Superbowl with Rex at QB. Say what you want about the Cover 2 but it continues to produce even with an aging group of LB's. Obviously having Peppers up there is more important than anything any coach is doing for the Bears right now... But this team has been weak at OL for years and this year it looked like the Jeanie was finally out of the bottle. Then *Poof* the problem basically disappeared. The line isn't great now but they're doing much better at protecting Cutler and the running game just put up nice numbers against the JETS. Understand? This team has little talent at WR and what they have was developed by these coaches. This team has a mediocre to good RB, not great. The DB's on this team looked to be a weakness going into the season. The Cover 2 helps them, IMO, look better than they are, by not singling them up too often. Peanut is practically a grandfather! No, they aren't loaded with talent and they had what most thought was a killer schedule heading into the season. They beat the Packers and Vikings to the top of the division and most "experts" would say both of those teams seem to have more talent than the Bears pretty much at every position on the field outside LB and ST's. I'm not going to waste a lot of time defending Lovie to all the haters. I did that for Angelo a few years back and now he's not exactly my favorite GM. Bringing in Cutler and Peppers were big recent wins but his drafting continues to be poor in the early rounds (when we have picks) and his ignoring the O Line has endangered our big arm. No, I'm not in love with Lovie either. He's not the fire-breather I prefer. But he's been successful with average talent and he's taken this team further than any other coach since Ditka. I think he deserves kudos for that and I'm big enough to say "Job well done." when it's obviously deserved.

Ha! Good one Pix. Truth is, I had a feeling he might be the man this past weekend but figured the Jets might be smart enough to shift Revis his way. They played it straight and he burned them. That second TD was a thing of beauty.
-
I know there are some huge Lovie haters here and, I myself, go nuts at some of his in-game management decisions. With that said, this team isn't big on talent anywhere but ST's and the last time I looked they were 11-4 and might secure a bye for the first round of the playoffs this weekend when and if they SWEEP the NFC North. This is something no team has done in a long, long time... I wouldn't have thought of this but for the fact that someone mentioned Lovie on Mike and Mike yesterday as a strong contender for COTY honors. When you think about the coaching staff he's put together around him, the way he's managed all of those egos, the way he's brought Martz around to understanding what this team can/cannot do, it's hard not to give him credit for what he's obviously good at. So, take it for what it's worth, Lovie won't ever win this board over for some of the things he's lousy at (time management, rah rah speeches, etc.) but you have to admit, given the significant issues this team has had to overcome this year, exceeding my wildest expectations, he's earned and deserves, at a minimum, a big attaboy. Question now becomes what do the Bears do with his contract? It'll be an interesting off season.
-
I agree. Because of the uncertainty still out there for next year, I think they'll all return. The last ST teams guy to get a head coaching job was probably Ditka! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
-
I assume it'll be Revis.

Packers may lose out if Rodgers isn't back quickly. Two concussions already this year, there is some talk that they ought to IR him. Of course, they won't, they're assholes.
-
You're welcome. I fogot one more... His name is pronounce FAR-V but spelled FAV-RE. What kind of shit is that?
-
Hell, I think Madden retired because he was heartbroken over his boy Favre. You forgot a few: Favre lost last year's playoff game for the Vikings. It was his fault. All he had to do was run for a few yards and they're in the Superbowl. God bless him for that but it's a black mark on his record. On the Vicodin addiction, he had an episode in front of his kids that led to one of them asking "Mommy, is daddy dying?" The hot tub incident where Chewy was accused of rape, many believe Favre was there. I'm not sure about this but they were best buddies and Chewy was completely thrown under the bus by Favre shortly thereafter. Chewy was found not guilty. Regardless, he was certainly guilty of terrible judgment. From what I understand, this party was tame by Favre/Chewy standards. Javon Walker was in the middle of a beef with the Packers over salary. Favre inserted himself telling Javon to give in and play out his contract. As fans we can do this but as a fellow player he should've shut up. Particularly with how selfish this guy has been about money his whole career. Javon reported and was injured early in that season, never making the money he would've had he continued to hold out and get a new deal. I've talked to a number of people who live in Appleton and the area around it. Jenn Sterger is FAR from the first affair Brett has had. This guy has been a coos-hound his whole life. That's all well and good with me until you get married. Over the years I've noticed an annoying habit he has. After every pick he's ever thrown, the guy starts rubbing something on his body, basically blaming some sort of imagined injury for the pick. Lastly, his bullshit streak has stunted the potential growth of several other QB's along the way and Favre has made it very well known he doesn't believe it's his job to help any young QB develop. In short, he's a tool and he hasn't been effective against the Bears basically since Lovie arrived so this isn't just sour grapes on my part. I see him for what he really is and a buddy of mine who roots for the Vikings hates him even more than I do. The Packers gladly sent him on his way because they knew Rodgers was going to have his growth stunted if Favre hung around another season.
-
Martz will be with the Bears next season.
-
They're both tools. With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if the Bears went 0-4 the rest of the way. It also wouldn't surprise me if they won 2 or 3. This team is as good as the D and Cutler's decision making allows them to be. If Cutler takes the sack rather than tossing it up, even our glaring issues at O Line are diminished. If he doesn't fumble or get injured. The O Line seems to be run blocking well and that's better than nothing. If you can keep 'em honest with the run, hit the right number of passes and get turnovers on the D, you can win in this league. And usually, our ST's are better than our opponents too which gives us better field position and can lead to easier scores. I'm not paying attention to the national media these days because they just irritate me. And Colin Cowhead isn't worth my time even when he isn't talking Bears. He's an idiot.
-
Perfectly said. Hey, I'm generally not a fan of the "Prevent" but in this case it was worked to perfection other than the unbelievable pass Vick threw for the TD. And if he was capable of that miracle, imagine if the Bears had played their regular D and gave that pass up a few minutes earlier... This team has FOUR former/current head coaches on it and while the former ones failed as head coaches they were all well respected in the areas they're currently employed in by the Bears. I'll take their decision making over some internet "expert" any day. Internet "experts" all believe they'd have this team at 11-0 right now. Yeah, right...
-
Ha, I actually took Young's comments as overall positive so to each his own. Basically the way I saw his comments were the Bears have the chance to get to the Superbowl if Jay plays less risky. And frankly Jay had more than one bad throw yesterday. The TD pass to Olsen was a pick if not for a great play by the TE. And the TD pass to Bennett on the outside was thrown off his back foot and floated there. If Samuel was on the field, that's a pick 6 the other way. So, in short, I agree with Young. This team has a chance to do something interesting BUT they need to see continues growth from Cutler.
-
The "prevent" worked in this case as it was supposed to. 100% All the D was out there to do was keep them from scoring before the 2 minute warning. And they almost kept them from scoring period, but for an absolutely perfect pass into triple coverage. I'd say the coaches not only get a pass on the game from me but deserve a pat on the back.
-
Amen to that. I just thought it showed heart. Hell, even ol' man Olin was kicking ass yesterday. I love it when this team plays with a chip on its shoulder. And whoever said above that Jay isn't getting the preferencial treatment Manning, Brady, etc get, you're right! But he hasn't earned that treatment yet either. A few more games like yesterday and maybe he'll be considered an A+ QB by the refs.
