  1. casually observing without going over game film, it seems strange to me that a lot of our passing sets have multiple receivers on the same side of the field. is this making it easier for defenses to choke off the receivers flooding those sides with safeties and linebackers? i don't remember seeing many if any across the middle routes for a quick hit either. the qb also is staying in the pocket too long. more planned rollouts especially since the line is like a sieve. nobody is seeing the blitzes or stunts and picking them up. all in all it looks to me like a shite sandwich.
  2. he went to N.O. i believe. then later died from cancer i think. the reason for him leaving was halas who didn't want to listen to him and basically did what HE wanted as in hiring an incompetent mike ditka. so as i said before we drove out the one good management tool we had by ownership incompetence.
  3. agree. it won't happen but i agree. it's time that someone in this organization took accountability for their actions... poles. this losing wishy washy attitudes need a kick in the arse. dump flus, waldron and that waste of space davis. maybe some players will respond to accountability.
  4. i thought right away of finks BUT... he was basically forced out by G. Halas by choosing ditka against his wishes. so in essence we did the opposite. instead of hiring incompetent people we forced out the one good one in 60 years. finks was the product of muggs halas i believe the same for buddy ryan. muggs dying was the few years of hope/competence in this franchise since the modern age of professional football.
  5. I dont disagree but the only push against that narrative is the new people running things, mainly Poles. He has did many good things but will all be underminded by retaining Flus. We get to see how the yr plays out. He clearly did not address the OL well enough to work. We have added talent and have a (maybe) franchise QB, the most important acquisition (maybe) in our history? how many times in the past have we seen the SAME scenario? we pass on the best coaching options out there to retain a coach we fire a year or two later? this comes to mind... ANDY REED. we could have had him when he left philly for nothing yet we don't see him as an upgrade to trestman and his ilk? as much as i dislike harbaugh and think he is nuts that SHOULD have been the choice but according to a poster on here at the combine they didn't even CONTACT him for the job. The rebuild is 2 and 1/2 yrs old, he is not finished yet. He stated it will take 4-5 yrs to do a complete rebuild. We have never seen that before in our history. This is what it looks like. He addressed the OL but it isnt working. He will get one more yr to finish building the roster. Flus wont be here, does it help CW to get rid of him now? You cant do anything about the OL in season. The fanbase will like it but will it matter? do you destroy the entire team you supposedly are building to keep the weakest link?? the one that will cost you at least TWO more years if you bring in another coach? you have WASTED the franchise qb's contract and possibly his mental stability to be all that he COULD have been, you have WASTED the good will from past and FUTURE free agents, you have WASTED numerous high draft picks and POOR free agents. where is that SILVER LINING?? it's just dejavu' all over again. Fire Waldron , make Tom Brown OC, Flus give DC play calling to Williams and be the HC only. I think that iis the best scenario we may have. We dont have a person in the coaching staff that can turn this around. this is yet again a FREAKING bandaid on an amputated leg.
  6. in over the last 60 freaking YEARS name me ANY head coach, GM or executive that has EVER left chicago to become successful with another franchise at the job they were doing here.... JUST ONE!!! i'm sick of it. sick of the poor management and poor decisions this franchise makes year after year after decade after decade. do we yet again keep walking through knee deep mud? what a shit show.
  7. the only way GB scores only 45 is if they coast or put in their second stringers.
  8. this is mindboggling. playing your franchise hope, the most important player in your franchise, in GARBAGE time when he is getting hit on every play?? what in the hell could this coaching staff be thinking? what do they think he could possibly be learning by getting pummeled? if nothing else this HAS to fall right on poles, flus and waldron. risking your prize qb to injury or just plain destroying him mentally like david carr or even jay cutler who's career was destroyed in chicago by inept management and him running for his life at the freaking snap is criminal stupidity.
  9. again some of it is the officiating. they call BS stuff on the bears and let other teams get away with murder.
  10. the nfl doesn't want good officiating. if they did this BILLION DOLLAR corporation would hire permanent officials who are held accountable for their jobs. the nfl also makes the rules so purposely ambiguous that any way you call a play is the correct call. what does this mean?? it means that the referee's control a game and decide who wins and who loses. not the players. the penalties at crucial times in a game decide this. it also it appears to me that this process has to be involved with gambling. the refs can shave points or shape a game to fit whatever spreads they so choose. some calls are so bad i can't imagine it to be anything else unless it's gross incompetence or they choose the team of their liking as a biased fan. if any of this really is the case why are they not fired? the whole league should be investigated. this is not all star wrestling (at least not yet?). i also think you can add to this that the nfl makes more money on certain venues. this way they can control the money coming into their coffers if the high profile teams that garner the bigger audiences makes it to the playoffs/superbowl.
  11. remember martz calling all of those 7 step drops? with the offensive line being so bad the qb had absolutely no time to take the drop and set. in fact he didn't even have 2 or 3 steps before defensive linemen from every direction were chasing him down. orlando pace? that was their big acquisition? he was used up and injured when we got him. martz's greatest show on turf was laughable in chicago. martz was also toast by the time he got here. the relief valve for cutler getting the ball out in a hurry was olsen who cutler had a great rapport.
  12. i don't agree that cutler's heart wasn't in it and as far as being a winner, brady or any other HOF qb, would have failed here. It was ridiculous coaching all around, especially with martz getting rid of a pro bowl TE that was cutlers biggest weapon. add to that from the moment he got here the offensive line was one of the worst i have ever seen. he was running for his life at the snap of the ball. the sacks were astronomical. he got a bad rap from the media because he didn't play ball with them. cutler wasn't as good as the hype when we got him but he certainly could have been a very good qb if we would have had a decent team surrounding him. he was a tough qb who took a punishing beating here, even worse than carr in texas.
  13. from my observation over the decades it is usually the 2nd year that they struggle the most. the assignments by the offense are more complex because he has past the rookie stage. there is game film on them and it takes time for the player to adjust to new schemes against him. by year 3 the dust should be settling and if he is a good player it will show and grow from that point on. not that worried yet.
