  1. Not sure where else to put this but a Detroit friend of mine shared a screen grab he found. It was sorta funny and I'll paraphrase. 'Caleb Williams texted Bears punter Tory Taylor in April 2024: "You're not going to punt too much around here." Since that time, Taylor has punted a league leading 92 times. His total yards punting are 4,177 to Williams' passing yards of 3,958.' The question I have is, who will rack up more yards this year and who's getting to 4,000 first?
  2. FWIW, Swift's first year with Johnson as OC while in Detroit (2022) had him gain 542 total yards (5.5 avg) on the ground. The year before he totaled 617 (avg 4.1). In 2023 he was traded to the Eagles where he got 1,049 yards (4.6 avg) and was selected for the Pro Bowl. Last year with the Bears he gained 959 yards (avg 3.8). So far he's averaging 4.0 and has 116 total (53 vs Vikings and 63 vs Lions - so he's "improving"). The question I think should be where is Johnson's focus? Running or passing? The Bears drafted a TE this year #10 overall and barely use him. And I think (eye test) there have been more overthrows to Kmet than catches. For a coach that pushes the '12 personnel' concept, I'm still trying to figure it out.
  3. The positive spin to this is that KC is also 0-2. After tonight either Harbaugh's Chargers or Pete Carroll's Raiders will have the sole lead on the AFC West. I haven't seen a lot of games outside of Chicago's so far but the little I did see I'm surprised to see the Giants at 0-2. Had it not been for the leg of Dallas' kicker and being able to 'easily' knock in 60+ yard FGs, the Giants would at least .500.
  4. I’m glad you inferred the list is long because man is it. I suppose in that context, yes Caleb is doing ok…🤷🏻‍♂️
  5. Our “generational” QB continues ro struggle after the scripted plays. I’ll admit he’s not sailing as many throws as he was last week but a big part of that is because Johnson is keeping the game conservative (as the commentator pointed out). Then there was that 20 yard INT but who’s counting? Thought Johnson was supposed to be some sort of offense genius? Who's holding who back? The player or the coach?
  6. FWIW I like McCarthy. Seems like a solid kid. And to remind us of a quote from Harbaugh: McCarthy is “…an elite competitor and the best quarterback in the draft.” Harbaugh believed McCarthy plays the position better than any other QB in the 2024 draft class. Guess we’ll see. He showed some serious grit tonight and adapted to what was given him.
  7. Maybe but really the offense hasn’t done much to offset it. Edit: and don’t forget Johnson pissed away a TO on that earlier challenge.
  8. So far Johnson’s hardball approach is giving us undisciplined play: 10 penalties for 108 yards. That’s 1 more yard than they have in total rushing yards (107).
  9. I think Swift is a slow starter. He seems to get better with more carries.
  10. So after the first half Williams not looking all that much like a “generational” player, that is unless you count the plays he made while out the pocket and scrambling. (Where have we seen that before?). After the scripted plays for the first several plays of the half, Caleb looked a little lost. As Troy pointed out numerous times missed a handful of big play opportunities because he didn’t read past the first option. Remind me again how he’s better than the previous two 1st round picks? 😘 😎
  11. I would but yes they have yet to play meaningful game under Johnson so only time will tell. And yes I didn’t get to see nearly any often game but from what I read they came out flat . Oh and yes I greatly dislike Dennis Allen I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, Goffs stats for the last three years in LA were nearly identical to what they were under three years of Johnson. Maybe Johnson’s schemes made all the rest of Detroit’s offense look good and not Goff. Guess we’ll see. Edit: this post brought to you courtesy of Woodford Reserve. 🥃
  12. I wasn’t able to see the game at all because for some odd reason it was blocked in my area. Anyhow seems the team has ALOT of growing to do. Need to get their collective shit together before they play Minny in a few weeks. Will they win? Maybe. FWIW I’m not a fan at all of Dennis Allen and still convinced Goff made Johnson look good (not the other way around). Hoping to be proven wrong . I did see some highlights with Bagent and he looked solid. Glad he’s been secured for a few years.
  13. Good to know. Magnitude is variable for a lot of reasons. Depth of quake, surrounding 'terra-ferma' (marshy vs granite rock) and of course the building materials and concentration of people in immediate area. A 7.1 (like we had in 2018) here would be a lot different in LA. And like Chile said, generally anything above a 7.0 is considered significant....let alone 8.3 and 8.8 (wow!). Glad to hear you're good.
  14. Hey Stinger. Saw the news about the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand … thought ‘do I know anyone over there’? I see you posted a little bit ago and glad to assume you’re good. We went through a 7 pointer a few years back and MAN what a ride .
  15. Add in Detroit’s second round loss by 14 points and I’m still not sure the NFC north was “all that”. Detroit was the #1 and Washington #6.
  16. Yup. I think people were tricked into thinking he was some sort of offensive genius. Once we found out first hand he wasn’t it became much more who obvious who runs their offense in KC (Reid). Especially when Bienemy left to Washington and UCLA only to flame out in both places.
  17. The only real concern I have with Johnson, besides relatively unproven outside of Detroit is that Goffs production the last three years were very similar to his last three with the Rams. Which begs to ask, is Johnson or Goff the reason for their offense success? It would be sorta like comparing how Nagy looked in KC before coming to Chicago.
  18. McCarthy actually coached the Packers to a SB win after the 2010 season (SB XLV). Ironically enough they played Pittsburgh who was coached by none other than Mike Tomlin. That was also the last time that Chicago played in the NFC Championship game (against GB).
  19. How about Mike Tomlin? Is he in the McVay/Shanny conversation when it comes to potentially giving up a first for him? Reason I ask is that has come up in conversation. That Pittsburgh might be willing to part with him due to what appears to be him getting stuck in neutral when it comes to the playoffs. I saw some pundits suggest he and McCarthy should just changes locations and that might do the trick. With McCarthy it would make sense as he is a Pennsylvania native.
  20. Brown had it figured out for the three games he was solely the OC. In those games the Bears played valiantly against Detroit, GB and Minny only to lose by a few points each game. Once he elevated to HC, the magic disappeared. Having watched all that All-22 my question is, what the hell was Kmet doing? Sitting on the sideline? He just disappeared…
  21. So in hindsight was the NFC north as good as their combined records reflected? Both GB and Minny were bounced in the first round by a combined score of 49-19. And one other funny nugget I saw earlier today. Minny lost to only two teams all season. Detroit (twice during the regular season) and the Rams (once during the regular season and again last night).
