Haha. Funny you should say that. I'm still of the mindset that 'Bears football is Bears football'. I'd still watch them if they were 0 and whatever...just because I spend the other 8-9 months of the year waiting for them to play again. Yeah it's been awhile since we've seen anything resembling a winning record but I still always hope that some miracle will occur. Until yesterday I had some glimmer of optimism that the other three teams in the division were making it easier for Chicago to stay in it. That was ... until yesterday and they made Hundley look Rodgers-ish. In the meantime, there will be others here who will start cheering for the tank games so to get better draft picks next Spring. I myself will bite my tongue and keep watching...hoping...for one more win.

To me I see some stagnation. Not sure if he's the blame or the lack of creative play calling. As the commentators remarked yesterday, Trubisky missed a few times on the blitzes GB presented. Obviously when one or two blitzers rush him that means something underneath more than likely will be open. Throw in the length of time he held the ball you have to ask, 'why not throw it out of bounds' rather than take a sack? Which occurred 5 times yesterday. This from ESPN: "The negatives: Trubisky still holds onto the ball too long. The second overall pick was sacked five times, but not all of them were the offensive line's fault. Trubisky also struggled when Green Bay sent only four rushers. On the season, Trubisky has zero touchdowns, two interceptions and seven sacks taken against four or fewer pass rushers. " Of those 297 yards how many were thrown in the fourth quarter? When GB went into pass prevent? Most of his completions, especially in the 'crunch time' were to the underneath route (Inman) which teams like GB will allow all day long if they have a 7 point lead. Look, I'm not focusing on this to trash Trubisky. There was an overall failure from the team, not just Mitchell. Quite frankly most of the games this year have been a yawn-fest. Every so often the defense provides some spark but the offense has done little, outside of Howard, to look all that impressive. I will say that Trubisky's first game (against Minnesota) was much more entertaining than were his last four (?) starts? Again, were these his fault? No. I blame that on poor offensive play-calling. But Trubisky should be able to recognize blitz presentations and be prepared what to do, as a QB, if he sees it happen. I blame a lot of this on his lack of experience not only here in the NFL but so too at the collegiate level.

There is one big concern with losing Fox. That being, he goes so does Fangio. Could they offer him (Fangio) the HC position and lure in an actual OC worth something? Would Toub be interested in an OC job? It would be a promotion from ST coordinator right? Although with KC he’s looking at at least making the playoffs this year.

And Trubisky proves his ability in two plays...one for a TD. Keep proving me wrong Mitchell.

If I didn’t have the benefit of seeing Goff turn it around l would say that Trubisky is not worthy of a #2 overall pick. Having nearly two weeks to prepare and he looks to be regressing instead of improving. Granted Loggains leaves ALOT to be desired but there have been a few plays out there that Trubisky deifintly should have made. I’ve seen pee wee players perform better.

Not sure what to say. Trevathan missing on D looks to be an issue. Penalties and no time for Trubisky are killing them on offense. I love me some Fox but coming out of a bye week and playing like this is pretty sad. Especially with a team on a four (?) day rest and led by Hundley. As I type the player I’m excited about, Inman, makes a huge catch.

If this recollection is true I like to hear it, especially from a guy like Sitton. After all he has Rodgers to compare to. But I sense a more reserved leadership style from Biscuit than McMahon. For some reason I can’t envision Trubisky mooning a helicopter. Either way, I’m looking forward to how he performs going forward. The NFC North is still ‘for the taking’ in my book.

Totally agree. I’ve gotten frustrated with his zig- zag running where he makes little or no forward progress. Stick with the play call and quit improvising.

Trevathan not playing could be an issue. Although Jones is improving in his overall play he struggles with calling formations.

Sounds like McCarthy and crew had enough of his shenanigans. Not all that surprising if you think about it.

I like Inman mostly because of his size. He does seem to run clean routes and ‘gets open’. I’m excited to see what he can do. Most of what else is on the team equates to speedy slot receivers. It appears Gentry is still learning. Could potentially be that Welker prototype. McBride had a decent game against NO but not sure how he’ll figure in long term; if at all. Wright was what seemed the most consistent but now he’s disappeared. Man this team needs some consistency from the receiving corps.

Should work on your reading comprehension. Was making the simple comparison between Trub and Watson as they were both contenders (in some of our opinions) for the eventual starting job in Chicago. Watson had 3-4 game lead over Trub and despite throwing 19 TDs has had a great share of INts. At least when you compare he and Trub. To me the ability to not turnover the ball is a much more important skill. Huge reason I eventually hated Cutler. Not sure you can make the argument that Will Fuller was ‘all that’ prior to Watson’s arrival. In fact some were wondering if he would be a bust early on. Hopkins on the other hand; yeah pretty good. Lamar Miller hasn’t been spectacular with a pretty pedestrian 3.6 yard average with 426 total run yards. So although they were a ‘playoff team’ you have to remember they are a part of the vaunted AFC South that includes teams like Indy, Jax and Tenn (edit). Some would say ‘they’ got better because of Watson. (By the way, they lost to Indy earlier today). Anyhow my point wasn’t so much a knock on Trub. It was more to compare the two regardless of the players around them. Perhaps Inman will be that beacon of light because of Trubisky? Still gotta see it. I was convinced Deonte Thompson would’ve been that surprising receiver due to the nice chemistry with Trub during the preseason. Alas he was sent away and now is doing pretty decent with Buffalo. If you don’t want to compare the two, don’t. Simple as that.

Right, the point being that Pace essentially paid big money for a guy most predicted he’d be where he is currently. None of us have the football acumen that Pace does though so what do we know?

Isn’t that why Pace signed Glennon to assure we would have a solid backup plan? Then kept Sanchez as the back up to the back up?

To be fair; first game was a blowout loss to JAX (who knew?) which he didn’t start. Then the next was to NE (his first start) by 3...at NE. Second was to KC by 8. And then Seattle by 3 at SEA. Plus they lost JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus along the way. You’re right that having Tom (who?) Savage back under center isn’t going to help. Remember the first game blowout loss to Jax? He started and played most of that game... This’ll give Trubisky a chance to catch up on games and how well they match up overall in the first year production. Don’t expect that Biscuit will throw an NFL leading 19 TDs (like Watson) but perhaps his efficiency / QBR will end up better overall? Early on Watson was INt prone; something Trubisky has been much better at.

For the moment. With as many sacks as he’s taking it may not be for long before he’s down too. Would help if Loggains could figure out a way to protect him more with rollouts or play action. And if we had drafted Watson, there’s no telling if or when he would have injured himself. Totally different circumstances. Who knew that Minnesota would be out their starting QB for nearly two seasons after a practice injury?

He needs someone like Dave Toub to work with him.

Funny. Because I was curious I thought; ‘wonder what Marc is up to these days’? Figured after a flame out as OC in Baltimore would pretty much finish him. Alas, it appears the CFL is wher he belongs. Trestman was hired as the Toronto Argonauts HC this year. I don’t think getting rid of Fox is the answer. Still think the fight and toughness we read about from another player on the Saints was in direct line with what we’ve heard about Fox’s teams in the past. Question is, were they talking about defensive players or offensive players? It’s pretty clear to those of us watching from the couch which squad isn’t performing as well as they could...and why.

It unfortunate that Jerrell had to do this again... while wearing the #50. Puts a smear on one of our former HOFers after he entrusted Freeman to carry on the legacy. It’s one thing being caught once...but twice? I’m just glad that Christian Jones is coming along in his development.
