Don't suppose Connor Shaw is available before the season is over? Wouldn't mind seeing him in action again. Even if it isn't until next year.
-
Please just pull the plug on Jay. Start using Barkley from here on out. At least he'll try.
-
I nearly hate to admit it but going into this game I was thinking 'just maybe' that time off (sitting out due to injury and a bye after a great performance) would prove Jay good. Yet again... The Hyde makes his appearance.
-
Another turnover by Jay. This time while in the redzone. And right after we lost Kyle Long quite possibly for the remainder of the season. but...defense is looking spectacular. Especially that first rounder Floyd. Nice work gents.
-
Halfway through the 1st quarter and Bears are down 0-7. Why? Cutler throws his SECOND INT for a pick six!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!!??! Maybe Jay is taking Jason's advice in purposely tanking. Geeez!!!!

If you're a FA most times you go for the money. Ask Jamie Collins (although it was more a trade). He was looking for money that NE wasn't willing to pay and now plays for perennial 1st round picking team Cleveland.

There's plenty of debate. How wrong you are. I'm not going to repeat AGAIN how ludicrous I think this is. (Ok maybe I am). And should t have to say regardless of the record your proposal to simply 'give up' is just plain pathetic. How do you expect to develop this very young team by asking them to roll over and play dead so you can be happy that the Bears might instead get a top 5 draft pick? Sad...sad. A few weeks ago, Jordan Howard was interviewed and said Coach Fox reminded everyone that he had a very poor start with the Panthers several years ago, much like this year with the Bears. Yet they were able to keep focused and made the playoffs despite themselves. That's the kind of inspirational coaching our young players need. Not; "Don't worry guys, there's always next year." Not now. That being said, if we were to have the Bears give up now, how would you explain to them to do that now that Minnesota has lost two in a row and GB is now 4-4? This season is no near way over...not yet. Even if Cutler playing.

I'm not sure how much stock can be put into any QB this early; especially from the so-called experts. Take into consideration that many speculated that the 2016 draft was going to be poor on QBs. Yet we have Prescott starting in Dallas, Wentz starting in Philadelphia and the overall #1 pick, Goff, still waiting to play. Prescott came from an extremely competitive SEC conference but wasn't drafted until the fourth round. Whereas you have Wentz who came from a D2 (Division I FCS - whatever that is) school in North Dakota State. Meanwhile, and as already pointed out the #1 overall pick, who came from California. (the same school Aaron Rodgers was drafted from back in 2005) continues to sit. At best we might have a clearer picture on who our next QB should be probably closer to the draft for next year. In fact about the time of the combine is when I suspect we'll start hearing more solid reports on legitimate QB candidates. Now is way too early to be trying to figure that out.

Well, there goes the season. ?

I don't think we should completely write off Barkley just yet. Assuming he starts next Monday night I'd rather see how he does with a little more than a week prep time in the starter role. Rather than being thrust into a prime time game at Lambeau. If he plays as poorly against Minnesota...in prime time...then maybe he's a lost cause. As a side note; Fox did say in a recent interview that he's looking at signing another QB and didn't quite close the book on Jay...for this year. So there is that.

Some are already asking the team to stop trying at he expense of getting a better draft pick. Others have decided to give up entirely on the season and have chosen to move on. Hence why you may not be seeing much in the way of positive news traffic. Yes you are right. The performance from Floyd was a thing of beauty. (At least the first half and 30 seconds). This image is something I hope we get to see a lot more in the future.

No doubt! Looks like our 1st rounder came to play!!!!
-
Just saw that McPhee was elevated to active. So does that mean he's available to play? Or just that he's off the IR status?
-
If the turnovers result in direct scores for the opposition yes. And since Hoyer hasn't turned it over (yet) can't make that comparison.
-
Draft-wise I think they need to focus more on the offense this next year. Every day and Tuesday I'll say skill players first but BPA especially if that player is a QB. I'll even concede to Jason's wishes of drafting another OLman (or two). Defensively they are REALLY young and need to work on developing what they have before they start drafting on that side again.
-
Statistically its Hoyer that's doing better. And that's 5 games for Rodgers (they've had a bye) to 4(?) for Hoyer. Was going to make the comparison to Rodgers in another thread where people were bemoaning how Hoyer is more of a game manager and can't (or won't) throw the long ball. However comparing both statistically over their careers; Hoyer has a 7.2 yds per throw average to Rodgers' 8.2. So neither is really blowing away the long game. I think the difference here is the people they're throwing to. YAC yardage is what needs to be looked at, not so much the QB.
-
Agreed although I could see Loggains sooner than later. Especially if they fire Gase in Miami. (Haha that is more wishful thinking than anything). Also see that GB picked up Kniles Davis from KC in a trade. He's a decent runner.
-
Well since he's still on the team and the last most recent attempt at a legitimate QB the Bears have tried, that's where you draw comparisons. And wonder 'what if'? Until he's completely gone, he's a topic of discussion. Sorta like Dallas still talking about 'what to do with Romo'? Everybody knows the answer; just no one wants to say it (not in Dallas anyhow).
-
A-freaking-men!!! They're vulnerable after loss to Dallas. And didn't look all that great against Minnesota when they lost. They are beatable no doubt.
-
Agreed. Still love Fox but Loggains is falling out of favor quick.
-
Thank you. I thought the offense was starting to look way too predictable. One thing that I dont like about Hoyer is sometimes he tends to not scan the field entirely. In the loss against Indy he missed a nearly open AJ on the left in the endzone. And yesterday he missed a wide open safety valve play of Howard on the left. Had he thrown to Howard and he caught it there was no doubt it would've at least been a first down. I believe it was either late in the third or during the fourth quarter when we were working towards the endzone. And just inside or out of the redzone. Not sure if he's told to go to one of the first two reads but it seems consistent in the red zone (at least these two plays) that if Hoyer is to throw he's not scanning for all options. At least he's not throwing INTs like you know who would be.
-
So you're saying this was all on Hoyer? There were no other faults that contributed to the loss? I'll agree that Hoyer could have done more had Loggains been able to call a better game. And Porter slipping or not; when you rush nearly 9 players there's almost no excuse to have to even worry about that.
-
Not sure how this can be Hoyers issue entirely. Have to think there is a lot of other holes to fill. One example; Tracy Porter. He does a great job of making a pick and running it out of the endzone (actually should've probably been down in the endzone) then towards the end of the game falls down for the backbreak play to Benn. Benn who hasn't had a TD or played in 5 years(?). The team managed to hold a lead for most of the game until the end when things just started to come apart. This is a coaching issue. Porter is too much a veteran to be making mistakes like that late in a game. Apparently JAX did some film study on Howard so the team tried to use Carey with a hair more success. How many times have we heard that if you have no running game you can't pass? Redzone play relies more of short yardage success which involves more running and intermediate throws. I didn't see a whole lot of trying on the running game, especially in the RZ and the passes that they had Hoyer trying seemed to be more long gain attempts. This whole issue to me is on Loggains and to some extent Fangio.

Jordan had a bit tougher go at it this week. Jags D isn't all that horrible. Lots of good young players on the team. I still want to see more of Howard but think they should pepper in some Joique Bell from time to time. He was a pretty nasty runner in his day. Maybe he doesn't have 'it' anymore but I wouldn't mind see him do another spider man jump on Thursday. Bounding bell
