Had a pretty good team when he coached up in Minneapolis. Although this was probably my most favorite memory of him.
-
Maybe, like his retirement, they plan on doing it several times over. Until they get it right.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. Another factor to consider is how well White does. If he performs "lights out" AND manages to play all or most of the season that could potentially relegate AJ to a #2 receiver status. Sure he might manage to become a #1 elsewhere; provided he did well and played the whole season, but his bargaining power with the Bears certainly lessens if White comes through. I sure hope AJ figures it out at some point and becomes a team player. I can see Megatron like ability written all over him.
-
He did limit Cutler, there's no denying that. Or at the very least expect him to play within a certain confine. While still playing to Fox' preferred run first and often style. Whatever the case. Gase managed to get a HC gig out of it.

I would make a comment about how the team was concerned with WHO was throwing the ball and they hesitated in those losing situations so as to avoid getting blown out. But that would be too obvious and perhaps perceived as mean spirited.

So the conspirisist (sp?) in me wonders; what gives? Did someone in the Saints org "unintentionally" tip off Pace? What were their plans for Shaw? Are the Bears now thinking of using him as a trade piece to NO? Loggains apparently saw something in him. And lastly; who the heck is Connor Shaw? Edit: got to thinking about this and remembered that AJ played at SC. Guess what? http://www.thestate.com/sports/college/uni...le87220717.html . AJ won the MVP of this game despite being ejected.

Yes to both, especially Long. With AJ it will need to be incentive laden in order to better assure we get more than 6 games a year out of him.

Wouldn't qualify it as a screw up as much as a bad move and more related to bad timing. Marshall going away has had more affect than first realized. First and most obvious was something the management could not have predicted but drafting White and then having BM leave didn't work out how the had hoped. The hope obviously being that there would be more a seamless transition. The other factor is how AJ has reacted to BMs leaving. If not coincidence then AJ has always been a pouting, injury prone player. I don't recall seeing that before by perhpas I missed it? Sure BM hasn't played on a playoff team but whose he had throwing to him in that time? Go ahead and answer that, it's more rhetorical. Hell if he can almost make the playoffs with Fitzpatrick throwing to him then he must be doing something right. He unquestionablly made the Jets offense better... And now they have Forte. Will that come back to haunt us? We shall see. I was pretty good with the move of Bennett. Granted he's a pretty solid player but he's got too much attitude for a team like who the Bears are now. I'm fairly sure should be make the team he'll be in the playoffs later this year. I haven't lost faith in our current management team...not yet . I have too much respect for Fox to do that . But I am taking notes.

I like it. Nothing wrong at all with the militaristic approach. A lot of the times it's much more productive getting people to do things. Helps weed out those that won't or can't do it. I have a feeling White will flourish because of it. I appreciate the perspective Faulk mentions where this could be a make or break year for AJ. Couldn't agree more.

Ouch. This does kinda make the release of Slausen more of a head scratcher. Especially given the benefit of hindsight. There aren't a lot of options currently on the roster for center other than maybe Ted Larsen. His write up says he played some DT in college but played Center his last year or two. Was drafted by NE as one(?). I suspect they'll kick the tires on some retreads from other teams or currently who are FAs.

All things considered this is only the first Pace draftee that hasn't worked out right? I know it's only year two but from the same draft as Teyo came starters in Amos, Goldman and Langford and potential starters in White and Grasu. And here's a look back at what others thought of the draft Teyo was a part of. For where he was picked it was graded as an A-. http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/grizzly-de...-302311581.html

Ha ha!!! That's a good knee slapper!!! ???? Sorry just had to say something...
-
Well now I'm even more intrigued. I didn't realize that this knee issue may be chronic. In my reading up on it they said he had a "clean up" process both last offseason and this year. That's troubling.

Right now no ones getting reps ahead of anyone else. It's all conditioning for the most part. I dunno but I'm Wondering just how well McPhee will do this year. Of the three OLBs that are he, Young and Houston the latter two improved where McPhee sort of faded. With there talk of Young maybe getting traded, or possibly wanting to at some point what's to say Jones doesn't find himself in the rotation?
-
Here's some history of Jones at OLB at FSU. I stand corrected that his relatives (dad and brother) both played DE. Not really all that different. Conceptually the same. And in case anyone's wondering FSU runs a 3-4 D. At least currently they do. http://www.seminoles.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209587974

Disagree on Jones. I think this actually might fit him better. I believe I did some write up on him actually having experince there some in college(?) and that he had either a brother and an uncle or cousin that played the position too. Not that that means anything just that there are people in his family who have experience in the role. The way I see it is that Jones no doubt has raw speed and pretty good tackling ability. He's probably not the best instinctively but compared to Floyd perhaps would be a bit more durable for the first year in the edge rushing role? At least until Floyd gets some more bulk on him and playing time.
-
Aside from that meaningless sack dance when he got injured I've never had an issue with Houston. He seems to just be on the fringe when it comes to potential. In fact based on that and what I've seen so far this year I'm goin g to hazard a guess and that he's gonna be the #1 or #2 performing OLB behind Floyd. Yes even better that McPhee. But if for nothing else that personal note you added puts him up a few notches in my book as an overall good guy.

In disappointed once again (according to what is written) that AJ seems to be not getting with the program. Even more concerned that our high valued FA acquisitions (Trevathan)doesn't appear to be taking care of himself. Kudos to Jay for continuing to display strong leadership qualities.
-
What about Goldman? Gotta think he and Bullard rate out similarly?
-
According to this he was 297: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/hro...rasu?id=2552245 Just seems huge. He definitely doesn't look all that big. So if he is 300 he's not a whole lot larger.
-
And he's younger and less road miles. Agree that of the two I'd rather much prefer see Carey make the team over Rodgers.
-
AKIEM HICKS!!!! Bring back the Fridge 2.0!!! I kid.

Amos, to me, proved last year he earned a starting spot. Whether it be SS or FS will be up to Fangio. With his ability to hit id lean towards SS. With Bush, I agree he has potential. But wasn't there some discussion that most of his highlights were from two years ago? And that last year he played hurt? Looking at him he's a wisp of a man and I wonder how well he'll stand up to the NFL grind. Are there any lagging concerns? The fact they have a few others from UDFAs tells me they're still looking.

If only you could find a player with Timu's instincts and judgement and Jones' quickness and athleticism we'd be sitting pretty with a long term LB. But presuming the team keeps 4 ILBs(?) I don't know where Cherry will fit in, especially with this new guy. Butkus, Urlacher, KIWATIOWSKI. It just sounds right.
