Bears trade a 6th round pick for Khari Lee (Texans TE)
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
This smells of that last TE project we had from the last regime. He was supposed to be some possible prodigy bball player with very little football experience. Can't recall his name and remember it being an unusual name but have to ask "where is he now?" I also want to say Lemon liked him because he was tall. -
As an aside, according to another article I was reading said G Andy Levitre (currently of the Titans) could become available after this last preseason game. Tennessee paid him big bucks a few years ago and he currently is on the second string.

Too bad it wasn't Osweiller. Oh well, this makes sense.
-
Heh...well whattyaknow? I heard some live broadcast this morning that specifically said "Slauson" but you're right, it was Clausen. (That's two in two years for him - not far behind Cutler and his 5 or 6(?)). Of course its possible having been concussed a few times in my life that I misunderstood what I heard...or thought I heard.
-
I'd be interested to see what he has to offer. Young kid with a fair amount of upside. Although I'd be willing to see what comes of the cuts closer to the teams' required 53.
-
Coming into this year the team had two former probowlers (Bushrod and Long), Slauson (who is no slouch) and a bevy of unproven youngsters (Ola, Leno and Grasu to name a few) that I don't think OLine was much a concern. Hell just two years ago we had a pretty stellar line who played pretty much the whole season together. Last year things unraveled a little where injures started to take their toll. Fast forward to this year and they bring in revered Oline Coach Dave Magazu and return 4 of the 5 starters from two years ago. Who knew that things would look even messier going into the regular season? What with Mills suddenly forgetting how to play tackle, Slauson just recently diagnosed with a concussion and Leno not living up to his potential. I don't see how drafting another two-three more oline would have helped. They did that in the third round with Grasu. And as Cracker pointed out the reasons, they had to entertain other options at the skill positions.
-
Agreed. I really like your signature pick. The Kansas Comet and Papa Bear! That is sweet!
-
At WR just about anyone would be good with all the injuries right now. Watching the game replay right now and man Leno is a hot mess. Almost every play he's being pushed back into Cutlers face or losing inside leverage. Man it's just plain awful.
-
I would be willing to bet some of those pickups will be along the Oline. Maybe tackle...or two. Heck at the rate we're going, probably WR too.
-
He's kinda fallen off since signing that new deal. Can't say we didn't see it coming.
-
After seeing tonight's game do you think it'll matter?
-
Agree with most. Not sure why you'd think Foster should start. SMC and Jones seem to be doing fine. Agree wholeheartedly with Acho (by the by probably off tonight to rest - he's not exactly a spring chicken and he's more than proven himself so far). Cutler rolls out and nearly gets his head lopped off. Only to be called back by and Oline penalty... Trying to figure out this Langford phenom. Keep hearing he looks great but I must be missing something. He looks average. Rodgers looks to me more like the change of pace back as he handles the N/S running better.
-
I wasn't going to either until I started thinking about it and considering he has a relative injury free career until now I couldn't help but think it. Besides being a retired Navy sailor we're told we're naturally superstitious so it seemed necessary to point out. Might I suggest #15? It's available.
-
I'll give you credit for needing quality players in backup roles along the Oline but I will not agree with Cutlers success or failure directly correlating with how they perform. I have to look no farther than Aaron Rodgers to know that to be the case.
-
Call me superstitious but when I saw that KW couldn't wear his college number '11' (because Bellamy had it) then chose 13 I hoped some sort of Madden like curse wouldn't befall him. The first name that popped in my head when I saw that was Johnny Knox who also had issues wearing that number. Not for nothing but I hope Kevin will choose a new number.

'Yeah but'.... hasn't he been struggling with the RT position? Why would you want to put him in the most important spot on the line if you can't handle one of 'lesser value'? Between he and Mills, neither has impressed so far. I don't really like the idea personally but maybe its time to consider moving Long to one of the Tackle positions(?) Bushrod probably can manage through this year but obviously can't be counted on after that.

Apparently a recently chronic problem and now out of practice. Something to take note of. "Now to you Jason..." http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...-a-back-problem

To me there isn't a lot of substance here. Just Martellus shooting off his mouth, which he's pretty good at doing. We all know that Cutler isn't 'leader material'. And after hearing from a few other players that they 'wanted to punch Cutler' (in response to the Geno Smith incident) you have to think he's not the most popular guy in the locker room. That being said, if somehow...someway he (Cutler) actually plays up to his potential (and the contract he's under) this will all be water under the bridge. Bennett will be a pro-bowler, maybe with Cutler, and bygones will be bygones. If not...Cutler will be gone and they'll have extra money to pay Bennett for his new contract.

Was it the beer or did Cutler look different?
Alaskan Grizzly replied to Chitownhustla's topic in Bearstalk
I'll believe it when I see it. Not only after 60 minutes of a "regular " season game against the opponents 1st team defense AND stays the course for at least the majority of the season... Then maybe I'll be a believer. -
Yeah, I've had some dealings with disciplinary processes for people 'protected' by unions and as a rule criminal process usually trumps civil process. And if there was a delay in Ratliffs sentencing (or whatever) it would make sense that the NFL had to wait for their 'sentence'. And with Brady his didn't involve a criminal act, per se, so they are able to carry out the ruling sooner. But it does seem odd without considering that. I'm still of the opinion that I too hope Brady pushes it and insists on actually going to court. He'd run the risk of perjuring himself especially since he's already flat out lied and deceited the public and the process. Either way, I'm ready for the season to move on and this to be over with.

I actually agree with Cracker to an extent. Although I don't celebrate any players injury, even the Packers, I'm glad that they aren't going to be as dangerous as they would have if Nelson was playing. Those of you naysaying would have to admit a little cheer came out when SMC took Rodgers out of the game. I know I cheered when Correy "Purple People Eater" Wooton planted Favre a few years back.

Cutler has been known to do things like you mentioned. If you remember that game against Detroit a few years ago: http://www.simpliesports.com/wp-content/up...oit-268x201.png He's been known to go all out from time to time, this seemed pretty "routine" for him. Maybe that look you saw was your beer goggles playing tricks on you. -
Id also like to add that I think Jenkins could be this years Willie Young. Relative low purchase FA but lots of upside. He and McPhee look real nice together on the left side.
-
So you're giving credence to Terra's disgust with the pick? ? I still think it's a bit early to think he's a bust, maybe but not certainly. Could be many reasons he's lagging right now that we're not aware of. I'm sure Fangio and Fox are taking copious notes.

Looks like his injury was nothing to worry too much about. Which is good. Looks like we're in the market for a RT or RG if Long moves.
