Yeah 'I've got phazer set to record' for tomorrow. I see Acho had another good showing. I like that a lot. He's one I'm starting to really like. And although he only had one catch, Bellamy (my personal pick to be the #2 this year after AJ) had a TD. The only WR to score.

Maybe they could look at using Amos at CB and Fuller at Safety?
-
What network is this on? I'm assuming local coverage only. - or should I say contiguous U.S. states only?

Heard rumor Jared Allen on IR for tomorrow....

Looks like the guy known as "Great Scott" here was the one with the insider info. Haven't seen him post in awhile. Wonder if we could track him down. -

Gosh I hope not. Saw that he was excused from the last inter-team practice for a 'veteran day off' (never heard of that before) but wonder if there wasn't something else going on? Who was it here on this site that was related to Allen's wife? Maybe he knows something? -
Yeah, I hear ya. I'm also disappointed in not seeing White play this year. And I'm concerned that we won't see another player (or two) hurt before the season starts. But only time will tell on all fronts. I guess the thing that disturbs me about this particular report is that Cutler was playing against another team's defense and did not so good. I can understand that he would do well against his own defense, 1st team or not but when facing off against another 'unknown' he reverts to his old self. And then to see how well Luck played against our 1st team defense makes it that much more disheartening. I'm not losing faith, not just yet. I have too much trust in Fox that he won't put together something respectable no matter how much Cutler (or anyone) screws up. And in regards to SCS's comment, I don't dislike Pace. I still think he's got great energy and seems to have some great football knowledge. It's still way too early to tell if White turns out to be a dud but some of the other draft picks this year are doing ok. Again, time will tell.

You know this is Terra you're talking to and about right???

Saw your story so I quickly started looking for sources on an update and found this: http://wgnradio.com/2015/08/20/leno-sees-t...g-right-tackle/ In it I found that it looks like McPhee's injury isn't as bad as it could be. And Leno is getting 1st team reps at RT and not because Mills is hurt. But..... The rest of the news wasn't so good.... our two minute drills (on both sides) were deemed a "disaster" and apparently all the picks that Jay hasn't been throwing have caught up to him. Sigh....as MadLith would say; "well at least we have 1985"....

Ah there's the stinger of old we've all come to know and love.... ?

What the heck happened to Mundy? He seemed to have a pretty decent year last year now (pfft) nothing. I figured with he and Rolle being reunited he'd be able to continue if not improve what he was doing last year. Alas... So would Amos play the FS position? Given his past as a CB that would make more sense but with his size perhaps SS? Or does it really matter in a 3-4?

This some degree I would agree to this. In order to have someone(s) like that on the team you have to have someone that can manage them. Trestman could not. And not necessarily because of what Marshall was behind the scenes others followed suit. Briggs was another example. I have no doubt that Fox can manage people like that. I have no doubt that Bennett could potentially be an issue but so far he isn't. Something tells me Fox weighed in to some degree on whether Marshall stayed or not. He probably agreed he had to go. He was a distraction. And as others pointed out, if Forte felt it necessary to speak up he was more than just a distraction.
-
Nah. Bottom line the Bears and Marshall are both better off for his leaving. He's already said the Jets will be his last team. Now he'll be able to do his HBO show without worry. He was good but not THAT good.

Hmm.... That's what I get for looking at the ChicagoBears.com for stats. I guess I should've suspected something was wrong when I saw T. Porter had receiving stats. (Speaking of...where was he?). Still a fan of Bellamy. Lots of time left and need to see how these guys mesh with Cutler before its all done.

Being a Bellamy fan I feel compelled to disagree. Of the three other WRs you mentioned; Merdtith, Cruz and Lawrence, Lawrence was the only to have any WR stats. Cruz had some for PR be outside of that those three didn't impress THAT much more. I like Bellamy for what I saw him doing last year. Granted it may not translate to this year but as many are saying this is only Preseason game 1. Of all the current WRs on the staff though it's looking like Royal is going to be the workhorse of the group, with both White and AJ having injury issues. And one thing I couldn't help but think when watching the D was how young the team has gotten and fast. By the time the season starts how many Rookies and 2nd year players will be starting? So far it looks like it'll be a large number.

Cutler hasn't thrown any interceptions in training camp

Lololololol... How ironic is that? Where the heck is Terra? He's gonna shart himself! -
Wayne would be a smart signing. 1 year minimum deal. Don't know that White will be a bust, it's not like he has an injury history. Like when they drafted former 1st round OLmen Gabe Carimi and Chris Williams and we all learned Williams had a history of back problems...after he couldn't start his rookie season. Anyhow I don't fault Pace for this. Just real unfortunate. If history repeats itself or the rest of this years rookie class goes bad then maybe I'll have more doubt.
-
Yeah I saw that too. They mentioned it earlier in the week but it didn't make big press. Think it was around the time the Jets story broke. What's troubling is that he was wearing a boot and using crutches...allegedly. This considering our #1 pick can't seem to come back from "shin splints".

Not Bears, but article on always going on 4th...
Alaskan Grizzly replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
I could see him working with the other "Kelley" in Philly at some point. But in the NFL I think they'd have to put more thought and strategy into it than just go for it each and every time. Maybe line up like you're going for it, knowing the D is expecting it then punt or vice versa. To some degree teams are already doing that. See New Orleans a few years ago in the SB and the Seahawks more recently. -
Hear that AJ was hurt in the game. Seen on crutches afterwards. Calf injury they say...bummer
-
Looks like Acho had a decent night with 2 TKLS, a sack and INT. Thats encouraging. S. Perry had a decent night in carries with 10 for 89 with an 8.9 avg. no passing TDs despite what looked like Bennett having a decent night too. Sorry to hear the first team offense didn't fare so well. Ah, it's week one of the preseason. Probably other things to be more concerned about.

Just curious if anyone is watching the game right now? I've seen some stats flash over my Bears app on the phone. Doesn't appear to be a very exciting game. And for what its worth Cutler still hasn't had any turnovers...so far. But his yardage looks short so I'm guessing they're employing more a dink and dunk approach, which I like. Noticed that Miami scored in the first 7 minutes of Q1. I have it set to record tomorrow when it replays on NFL Network. Just thought I'd ask if anyone is watching now and overall thoughts of the performance.

Guard depth - from what I recall aren't both Montgomery and Grasu also able to play Guard (or have the experience?) WR - I'm still hoping that Bellamy somehow finds a way onto the roster. He showed flashes of potential last year. Like what I saw. Porter - I was hoping he'd make the cut for first string let alone the team. But heard he's nursing a hamstring which could prove to be a lingering problem for him.

He's saving them all for the regular season, especially game 1. Seriously, I was just thinking about this today and how it could be more the defense having issues than it is Cutler doing that well. Isn't he still practicing against #2? And have to agree that if Cutler screws up, it's more than likely on him. Not the OL. -
Sadly it sounds as though things aren't working out for Young and he could more a casualty of money than anything (and he's still trying to recover from a pretty major injury). Houston could prove to still be a big piece to the puzzle, provided he doesn't act like a ding a ling. And Jared Allen could prove to be a very strong situation player (like AZ said) where if he manages to get back to double digit sacks then he's more than worth the money. And besides I'm still convinced he's going to have a renaissance (ala Peppers) after going from three to two point stances.
-
So now he could be "missing games"? I'm beginning to wonder if it's only shin splints and not something else? Usually they don't last this long. Something's not adding up. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/25343...n=chicago-bears https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_splints Found this too from Hub Arkush. Although he makes some intriguing points, I'm not quite to the level of pessimism about White as he appears to be: http://chicagofootball.com/2015/08/06/hub-...oncern/aop8528/
